NCP president Sharad Pawar on Tuesday had a lengthy discussion with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray amid speculation in state political circles over differences in ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government. The meeting comes ahead of the two-day monsoon session of the state legislature, slated from July 5. For the second consecutive year, the Maharashtra government restricted the height of the idols to up to 4-feet at public marquees and 2-feet for home worship for the upcoming 10-day Ganeshotsav festival starting September 10. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 746 cases and 12 deaths, raising the cumulative caseload to 7,21,526 and the death toll to 15,426.
