ROXAND TWP. — Kyle Myers came into this world a fighter.
The 33-year-old father of three was born six weeks early and spent the first days of his life in the neonatal unit at Sparrow Hospital, his mom, Brenda Blanchard, said.
His lungs weren't fully developed and he had a hole in his heart.
But he battled through it and survived, Myers' older brother, Justin Morris, said.
"He was always a fighter, from day one," Morris said. "One way or another, he found a way to overcome his obstacles. It's just sad he couldn't fight through this one."
Myers died Friday night after a fire broke out in his home in the 4800 block of West Mount Hope Highway in Roxand Township, which he shared with his girlfriend, Kelly Sammon, his three children and her two sons. None of the children were in the home at the time of the fire.
