JENSEN BEACH — The phone rang, it was 3 a.m. and a sheriff's deputy told George Hart a fire erupted at his restaurant.
"I quickly got dressed came down over the hill to see 15 firetrucks, 10 police cars, ambulance, thought maybe the building was a total loss," Hart said Monday.
But despite the fire melting the chairs and singeing off the paint outside the restaurant early Monday, Hart's restaurant, Mulligan's Beach House Bar and Grill, 2019 Northeast Jensen Beach Blvd., opened for business.
No injuries were reported, Alex said. The fire happened when the restaurant was closed.
The fire burned the outside seating area and exterior part of the restaurant, said Martin County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Bethany Alex.
