water tax.
Over 10,000 residents of DSK Vishwa, an upscale township in Dhayari, are struggling with water woes that are turning from bad to worse тАФ all thanks to a 16-year-old agreement between the society and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Residents have been dealing with a shortage of water supply for years now. But for the last couple of days, they are even receiving mud in the name of water that no purifier can treat or make usable. Even boiling, as PMC stresses, wonтАЩt help.
Before this, for 15 days, they had absolutely no water. Despite paying double water tax to the civic body, they end up spending lakhs of rupees on water tankers and bottled water, owing to that contentious agreement. They had hoped that the area being brought under PMC in 2017 would better the situation for them, but that remains a distant dream.
