Businesses in the Eastern Cape have welcomed the upgrading of the Mthatha Airport to a category 5 licence, and hope that this will result in more flights to Mthatha and increased economic activity in the region.
Vuyisile Ntlabati, president of the Eastern Cape Chamber of Business, said they hoped there would be more competition and more flights using Mthatha and connecting to other big cities such as Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
