MTA hires new executive to push for accessibility in New York mass transit

Quemuel Arroyo, the former head of accessibility at the city Department of Transportation, will start as the agency’s Chief Accessibility Officer. His job entails working with disability advocates — and pushing ahead with new features like elevators and ramps that are woefully absent from most of the city’s transit systems.
