Mt. Sterling Y opens cooling center

MOUNT STERLING — Mount Sterling Community Center YMCA is opening as a cooling center through Thursday.
Guests are asked to check in, but can use the game area, gym, study room and toddler zone.
Cooling center hours will be until 9 p.m. today and 5:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
A heat wave is expected to linger in west-central Illinois through Thursday, with heat indices reaching 100 to 107 degrees.
