What i am proposing is basically what we will do is allow medicare to cover inhome Health Care. They want to stay in their home, they dont want to go somewhere else. For the family to send them to a residential care facility, to hire somebody, that is so expensive. Heres the other thing about it. People say how are you going to pay for it . Heres the thing, here is how we pay for it. Part of what i also intend to do is allow medicare to continue to negotiate Drug Prices against these big pharmaceutical companies, which means we will save medicare the money because we are not going to be paying these high prices and the resources are best then put in a way that helps the family like the one you are describing, which we have already done with insulin. Health Care Policy experts in Government And Outside of government have known for decades now that the most offensive place to deliver Health Care is in the hospital. The least expensive place to deliver Health Care can be, in many instances, at home. Vice president harriss new proposal recognizes the new realities of the way we live and the way we die. And, the idea that somebody would be playing political games for the sake of himself. This is so consistent about Donald Trump. He puts himself before the needs of others. I fear that he really lacks empathy. Very basic level, to care about the suffering of other people and understand the role of a leader is not to beat people down, it is to lift people up. Absolutely. During Donald Trumps first president Ial Campaign, we saw him publicly asked for Vladimir Putins help in that campaign, when He Sat on a Camping Stage into a microphone, russia, if youre listening, please help us out and help us campaign against Hillary Clinton. Russia was listening, russia did help out. Here is the same person picking up the phone, having the door closed, him alone on that phone with Vladimir Putin in the middle of a president Ial Campaign. What might he be asking for . We know from the department of justice, from criminal indictments and other actions they have taken, that there is russian interference in our election going on, in very significant ways, far more significant than what we investigated in 2016 and proved up in the 2016 election. That certainly could be one subject. The other is, of course, again, as doj has documented, is that Vladimir Putin has a strong interest in seeing Donald Trump elected because he wants the war in ukraine to be over, with russia winning. So, is this mutual interest that it is compelling on both sides here. One of the interesting things that i think is obviously Donald Trump needs to be asked about it and he may lie about it. It would be quite interesting, though because the Intelligence Community, while i dont think they are in any way tapping the american side of that Phone Call, i wouldnt be surprised if they actually know about these calls because it wouldnt be shocking at all that they would be able to intercept it. If they didnt, you can imagine other foreign intelligence services are doing that. There probably is some record of what happened. Yes, but the Intelligence Community in this country would be prohibited from disclosing what they might know about that call. Absolutely. Im just saying it may be something that is perilous for Donald Trump at this stage to like about. You are correct there would be all sorts of reasons that the united States Wouldnt want to reveal exactly who they are wiretapping or how they are able to do that. It may not be the case with other foreign allies who may be doing similar things. We know Donald Trump wanted, solicited russian help in his first president Ial Campaign. The Mueller Investigation proved he got it in his campaign. Donald trump wanting russian help in his campaign and asking for Vladimir Putin for that help is not a difficult thing to imagine, especially with him on the phone to Vladimir Putin this year. Prior to that, when he was also a president ial candidate. Absolutely. Donald trump is transactional. The issue of whether it is legal or illegal does not seem to be anything that prevents his taking action. You just have to take a look at the criminal Jury Verdict in New York to understand that. From a transactional point of view, he is fine with getting the vote of anyone. It doesnt matter if they are racist, sexist, xenophobic, he is unwilling to say that the proud boats are bad, hes unwilling to say that Vladimir Putin is bad. It is all a transactional interest on his part with no principles involved. At least that is the record that we have. So, it would be, there would be very little reason for him to change his stripes from what we saw in 2016, especially when you consider that if he loses this election, he will have one, if not two federal cases that he has to deal with. Im talking about criminal cases. He has a strong, strong interest not just for the upside but this huge downside in losing this election. I think we have every right to suspect that vladimir Putin Wasnt asking for more Covid19 Tests at this point. When i did, brett put his hand over my mouth. This is what terrified me the most and assent the most lasting impact on my life. It was hard for me to breeze and i thought that brett was accidentally going to kill me. The details about that night that bring me here today are the ones i will never forget. They have been seared into my memory and have haunted me episodically as an adult. Another woman, deborah ramirez, a classmate of Brett Kavanaughs at yale university, came forward with an allegation of Sexual Misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, accusing him of exposing himself to her at a college party. In a dramatic move, two senators, Republican Jeff Flake and Democrat Chris managed to get the Kavanaugh Vote delayed for one week so that the fbi could investigate both accusations. Today the Washington Post reports that after a sixyear inquiry, democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse out that the trump White House hampered the Fbi Investigation, including preventing them from interviewing relevant witnesses and following up on tips. Our next guest, senator whitehouse, said his Report Today shows that the investigation was acm controlled by the trump White House for political cover to senate republicans to put Judge Kavanaugh on track to confirmation. Joining us now is Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of rhode island, member of the senate judiciary committee, chair of the subcommittee on federal courts. Hes also the author of the scheme, how the right when you start money to capture the supreme court. Senator whitehouse, thank you for joining us and for doing this work. I have to say, i wasnt The Only One who suspected, at the time, that in this extended week or so, there was a very little the fbi would be able to accomplish in that amount of time. What i couldnt know is how little they tried. The four key conclusions of our report, first when Donald Trump told america that the fbi has free reign to run down these accusations, what he said was false. They had nothing of any kind. They were told exactly what to do by his White House lawyers. The second thing we were assured of, this was an investigation done by the book. That they were following their procedures, we could be assured they were following the proper, regular procedures. We discovered that in a supplemental, there was redirection all the way. One of the White House directions was dont look for corroborating evidence. When so many Days Senator says there is no corroboration, that was deliberate. The fbi was steered away from corroboration and evidence. The last finding was that the Tip Line they set up was a fake. No tip was investigated by the fbi. They were separated out from the general Tip Line traffic. Everything related to kavanaugh and sent up to the White House, where the White House political people buried them. Or worse, used them to steer the fbi away from witnesses. So, the Tip Line was set up in a way that could have worked. What came in on the Tip Line was then steered away from any productive investigation. Yes, there is a procedure when tips come in where they are sorted for importance, relevancy, credibility. You can imagine some of the calls that come into the fbi Tip Line are a little eccentric. So, they sort through it. But, there is a process and that process ends with credible tips being reviewed and investigated. There were plenty of credible tips that came in the fbi Tip Line. There were tips that were so credible that the fbi agents flagged them for the White House, sitting hey, you might want to look at this one. Then they waited for the signal from the White House that they could investigate and they got nothing but dead silent. And result, Zero Tips ever investigated. What could have been accomplished in the time that was allotted, if it was an honest investigation . The fbi is a big organization. It has thousands of agents. If they had wanted to do this right, they could have done it right. The fbi does a lot of things fast when it matters. In this case, they had no authority to follow their own procedures because of the peculiarity of this to being a supplemental background investigation. So, they did only what the trump White House told them to and they told them find any corroborating evidence, dont pursue leads, only interview these people, only ask these questions, and dont bother us. And, at the same time, senior officials from the fbi, the department of justice, the trump White House, and the president himself were saying this is all fine. They have free reign, they are following their regular procedures, you can trust what they will come up with. It was a complete smokescreen. Why did it take 60 years for you to be able to tell this full story . Well, the trump administration, obviously, put up a complete brick wall. We couldnt even get things like the fbi policies for how they run their Tip Line. We ended up finding that on the internet. They wouldnt provide it to us. Which, by the way, was extremely aggravating. At the same time that they were giving us nothing, they were delivering Box Loads of sensitive information about the crossfire hurricane investigation, the Trumprussia Investigation to senate republicans. I sat there in front of my Back Wall watching the traffic by in the republican fast lane. It was a very frustrating. After that, it was a slow slogging through the biden administration.
