The big warning i want people to understand is what Donald Trump says something, stop saying what he intends to do and when he turns around and says the head of this network or other people who are critics he intends to use. Smearing someone who has not been charged and never was charged by saying is a criminal investigation when the person has no ability to defend themselves at that point. Fema and the biden administration and not choosing migrants over disaster victims. Trump has purposely inflating two different programs funded by two different sources. Lets be clear about whats happening. Trump is trying to exploit the victims of a Natural Disaster to demonize migrants. Even many republicans are begging people to stop pushing this information. Will you all stop this Conspiracy Theory Junk that is floating all over. Its a distraction to people trying to do their job. How damaging has the misinformation been and what impacts are you seeing in terms of the recovery and people are trying to find Loved Ones and get accurate information . It can have a real cost for people on the ground who are already dealing with so much. Its right up There with making sure people have access to transportation, making sure they get their power back on, making sure communications come back. Also making sure you can get good, accurate and useful information. Unfortunately, that has become more difficult in the digital environment. Its become more important to have trusted and reliable sources. Weve worked to make sure information that gets to users is good. State 511 systems and for responders we set up a hotline so if youre involved in an emergency operation, you can call and get our data about where a road may be open and available or if a bridge is taken out. A lot of it seems to be driven by politics. That is actively harming and disrupting the process of getting back to normal for so many people whose lives were upended by this awful storm. And the recovery is continuing. I saw this and im sure a lot of people saw this. You pushed back from misinformation about Hurricane Relief in exchange with Elon Musk on twitter. We are showing it. Telling him that he can call you if he was confused. He publicly thanked you and said youre on the ball which is something he doesnt do. Did you speak with them or that he take your word for it online . He took me up on that. We had a conversation. What was happening was the faa was the closing down any airspace but There was an issue with pilots helping to get started Link Equipment to where it needed to be. Having the right information. We work that with local authorities and took care of it. To me its an example what the best thing to do is pick up the phone. I dont want to get too much in the weeds but since it has been Confusion And Misinformation about the fias temporary flight restrictions. This is a process in place for decades. If you have a Disaster Area and Theres a lot of Rescue Operations going on, a local Airport Or Fire Department Or Coast guard flying helicopters can request whats called a tfr. When you hear that term, thats whats going on. I dont mean to get that technical but have been amazed how little detail gets blown up on the internet into something its not. A lot of good samaritans and civilians helping because theyve Pilots Licenses and thats a great thing. Its important they coordinate and make sure its safe. Sometimes the weedy details are essential for accurate information. Lets talk about the port strike. If this had not been resolved and it was resolved quickly. It would have had a huge impact on the economy. With everything going on, i dont know if everyone understands the depth of the crisis that was averted. Im sure you did Scenario Planning and thought about this internally. What would have happened if the strike continue for weeks or months . This was a major, major concern for transportation systems. If it were not for the fact There was so much else going on that same week, it would have been the number one thing on americans minds. It has caused issues. The ports and Supply Chains are working through. They will catch up. Theres a big difference between a short stoppage and long stoppage. In three days, There was a deal where the parties agreed to higher wages for these dockworkers who are very deserving. These are folks who come to work in tough conditions. They didnt get much of a raise under the last contract. Many of them were going to work during the toughest days of covid. Dozens of them lost their lives and they are trying to participate in profitability that the Shipping Sector has experienced in recent years. What happened was an agreement to get back to Work And Agreement provisionally on increased wages and get back to the Table And Work through other things like what to do about Technology And Automation and issues around other paid loyalties and benefits that go along with their work. The Bottom Line is we really count on our ports. We experienced this with issues on the West Coast ports in 2021. We were able to work through those. You could really feel the pinch and in order to make sure our economy is running smoothly, Theres no substitute for having all of our Freight Systems whether its trains, ports or highways and bridges. After i got out of class, i found out from another students their professor showed it in class. I had people coming to me saying didnt i see on tv. Its been interesting and very fine. There has to be more Fact Check Spirit Weve got 30 days left. I watched people like marcus. I work in politics for more than 20 years. Incredibly inspiring putting that in my veins. I loved it. Its a reminder how important young people like him are in this election. What you wish people in michigan, young people who may say my vote doesnt matter. Im not excited about this. What you wish they would know but the stakes in this election . Here seems to know. You can get the facts, get the information. There are ways to do research and learn who these candidates are.
