State or local. Here they are trying to say that just on those dates stakes of this, there is no legal cry. I am not expecting it to be particularly successful, alex. There is a lot to go. Go. Some decades in prison, you know, it would depend on the exact nature of the conviction here, there are five charges here. One of them is a conspiracy charge, that can be quite broad but the other thing i want to note is this is one of multiple investigations into the adams administration. We dont know to what extent the mayor himself is a target of the other investigations, or if they solely focused on City Hall officials and others in his campaign world, to the extent that the mayor himself is facing additional charges, that obviously would add to that time, were he convicted. And one of the things i would focus on are allegations of S Obstruction of justice, even in this indictment for which hes not facing an Obstruction Of Justice charge, but, the feds are clearly signaling hey, if you and others dont play ball with us, this could be whats coming next. I saw that as a shot at potential cooperators, but that doesnt mean the Mayor Couldnt Face that charge as well, alex. Its sobering, all of this. Open invitation any time you want to come on and talk things legal with me. Is going to benefit most from the Vice President ial debate, next. Debate, next good day to all of you from Msnbc World headquarters, welcome everyone to Alex Witt reports, we begin with decision 2024, and 37 days until Election Day and right now, former President Donald Trump is speaking, hes in the Swing State of pennsylvania and in a few hours, Vice President harris will make an appearance in Las Vegas and among the hot topics on the Sunday Talk shows that Vice President s trip to the Border Town of douglas, arizona. Do we believe her now, after shes had almost 4 years to solve the Border Crisis and all she did was make sure that it was wide open. Finally, under Joe Biden got Senator Langford and a total of 75 senators behind of Border Security Bill and you know who torpedoed that, Donald Trump. So weve got to pay attention to the fact that Kamala Harris is actually trying to solve problems, Donald Trump, hes been all about Donald Trump and his election efforts. And heres a look right now at the view from here in new York City were in just todays Vice President ial Running Mates will square off in their only debate and a new Nbc News Poll of latino voters shows Vice President harris with a significantly over trump but when it comes to the issues, it gets a little complicated. Whats the most important issue we asked in this poll, Abortion Clocking in there, and Kamala Harris, big advantage, we see that, being competent and effective, Kamala Harris is leading but these are the ones that hispanic voters are saying are the most important to them, economy, small vantage for trump, inflation, nine point advantage, and border and immigration, Donald Trump with a doubledigit advantage. And for those still clamoring for more details on the Harris Campaign Policy positions, a former Attorney General and longtime friend of Vp Harris said shes done a ready, Pencil Job of telling voters what shes about. The notion of we need to know more about her its befuddling, in the sense that she has laid out detailed plans on a variety of things. Shes a compassionate person, shes a person whos unafraid to use her convictions to come up with good policies, shes not afraid to take on the powers that be. We have reporters and analysts in place covering all the new development and we will start with Nbcs David Noriega in Las Vegas with the Vice President holding her Rally Tonight and the new poll we showed, it shows that harris may have some work to do with latino voters. How is she planning on targeting that key Voting Group . Yeah, definitely, first to break down the pole a little bit. This is a new poll of latino voters, the more interesting Data Point is how the lead has been shrinking for democrats over the course of the last several President Ial election cycles, so they are losing ground, the latino support for democrats is eroding. Now, another thing that the poll showed was that far and away the most important thing for hispanic voters are pocketbook issues, jobs and the Economy And Top of the list, inflation and the cost of living. Other issues like threats to Democrats Democracy and, in terms of how the Harris Campaign will reach the voters, its trying to reach them on that message specifically. Even this rally is a good example, we were just inside the Convention Center Space and its plastered with very big signs in spanish, this visit to Las Vegas is clearly an effort to reach the hispanic demographic, and the electric. But on the economy they will be swimming against the current because the Trump Campaign has an advantage on that Playing Field because largely people are nostalgic for the pre Pandemic Economy that they associate with trumps time in office. Thats what i heard talking to latino voters where i spent some time yesterday. I vote for trump just because you know the four years he was in office we were doing good, absolutely good. You know,, shes already in office and aint be done. You know, i mean, there was more work, to and we were able to afford things. That voter, is committed to trump, she told me theres nothing that will change your vote but there are many people in the electorate who are persuadable and there also some of the hardest to reach, just for the campaigns just to find them. Harris campaign is spending a lot of resources trying to find those voters where they are, alex . Thank you very much, i appreciate your time. Lets bring in nnamdi egwuonwu. How are things shaping up for the big clash in new york . One thing is for certain, those two candidates have been preparing for this debate which will take on more significance than the debates normally do. The former president not agreeing to another matchup with Vice President harris, this debate will be the last opportunity that these campaigns have to sell their agendas before an audience of millions ahead of the election, so for Governor Walz, that has meant not only trying to figure out how to introduce himself but also working alongside Pete Buttigieg whose been playing Jd Vance to contrast their vision of the united states. Jd vance has been working with minnesotas Tom Emmer whos been playing the role of Governor Walz, they are focused on not only selling the agenda but redefining Tim Walz in the public eye. They see Coach Walls means, so for them its a way to cast him as a leftist and dig into his time as governor of minnesota. Ahead of the debate, neither of these two candidates have met Each Other and on top of that we have a clear idea of how Governor Walz attacks Jd Vance but not the other way around, fans also often goes at harris, so itll be interesting to see how vance articulates those attacks against Tim Walz. My opponent senator vance, had a quote that you read it and you hear it and you gloss over it. But think about how deeply disturbing this is. He said that when they get power, and they will use project 2025, they need to be ruthless when it comes to the exercise of power. No one is a bad person for thinking that Kamala Harris should have done her job and shut down The American southern border. No one is a bad person for being test off that somebody in their community died of a Sentinel Overdose when the poison should have never been here to begin with. Alex, we know after the date we will see Jd Vance head to michigan for a couple of events there meanwhile, Governor Walz will join Vice President harris for a Bus Tour in central pennsylvania. Thank you for all of that. Joining me now we have my award, she covers the Harris Campaign and sophia chai, she covers the elections for axios. Glad to have you both here. Tuesday the attention turns to the Running Mates, what can you tell us about how Tim Walz and Jd Vance have been preparing for this debate . Yeah, theres definitely not as much anticipation as there was with Harris And Trump but this could be one of the last big events this cycle, especially if we dont see wod Tim Walz, theres definitely little bit of anxiety about the debate. He doesnt have that Lawyer Type Background that has proven beneficial in these types of settings. Its not necessarily his sweet spot but we will have to see how he actually performs. Hes been working on Debate Prep with Pete Buttigieg whos been playing Jd Vance, they were just in minneapolis holding another session, and as for vance, congressman Tom Emmer, is playing Tim Walz. We also have this piece in political Judgment Politico talking to danny oconnor, out of columbus, ohio who played vance in the Tim Ryan Debate and appoint that he made about vance is that hes very disciplined. Hes going to stick to the message that the Trump Campaign wants him to there may be dishonesty in the attacks but he will be very consistent. Sophia, theres a new report suggesting that Governor Walz is fighting nerves, Senator Klobuchar said hes just not a lawyer debater type. Are democrats lowering expectations . Absolutely. I mean walz, you heard him say, im going to be up against a Yale Law School grad and i think for walz, this is his first national appearance, his first and perhaps his only chance to define himself against someone like Jd Vance. So his goal is really going to be able to show that hes able to fend off you know, attacks from this Attack Dog like vance and also not get flustered. We know that he is prone to you know, turn red, hes prone to some of these fumbles in terms of the facts, and he really needs to not do that and as well, he wants to show other pieces of him like the coach walz, like the schoolteacher and those are parts of his stories that make him a good candidate for vp in the first place. You think anyone is telling him look here is the deal, you are more popular than Jd Vance is across the country, and if you are just yourself when youre out there, thats the authentic you, but do you think he is hearing that from anyone . Absolutely. My Colleague Tori and minnesota has been talking to a lot of walz allies, and they really want him to be himself. They want him to stay above the fray, to stay away from those extremely personal attacks, and just be the person that he was as he has come through his career because the Vance Campaign and ive been talking to the Vance Team as well, and they know that walz his moderate image is going to be the thing that is most potent, and that moderate image is exactly what Jd Vance is going to want to cut into on tuesday. So myah, there will be no live audience and the microphones will remain open the entire time. Who do you think these conditions might favor, does Jd Vance run the risk of being too much of an Attack Dog if hes not careful . Its hard to say. The Microphone Situation is a little bit different than with Harris And Trump because with trump, you know, he had a tendency to interrupt and continue going on attacks that would have benefited harris, so its difficult to say. Okay, what about Vp Harris, sophia, who is attacking Donald Trump for not wanting another debate. What are the odds that we are going to see the Vice President and trump in one more President Ial debate. Is there anything about this debate, if it goes well that would give the Trump Campaign the confidence to tackle another one . Yeah, look, trump is not someone who likes to give somebody else the last word, even if its someone on his team. So that will be especially the case if jd doesnt do as well as he hopes to. I was in wilmington, North Carolina when i heard Trump Respond in realtime to harris accepting another Debate Invitation and you know, he kind of set the stage for not committing and he said look, people have already started voting, its too late to have another debate but i think hes a little bit sore from the previous debate, even if hes not going to admit it. So i think the prospects of another debate are about 5050. I thought the Head Scratcher for me was when he said he has to be in the mood. We have the latest polling which shows Vp Harris with a Sit To Test Mac significant lead over trump with latino voters. But democrats appeared to be losing ground with latinos over all. What are you hearing about how the Harris Campaign is approaching this Voting Group . This is a Voting Group that democrats continue to be concerned about. To your point, she has improved her standing to where biden was. They are feeling better about that but she still not at his 2020 numbers and theres a little bit of time left to make up the ground. I will say Theres Campaign has really been investing and targeting this group. There has been this recognition that there are concerns here and they cant just go out and target the group in the final stretch of the campaign. Its been interesting seeing what her message has been focused on, their messaging on the economy, high drug prices, crime, you know, issues that voters across the board are really concerned about and so arent latino voters in particular. So the question now, is that going to be enough. We have breaking news, President Biden is speaking at Dover AirForce Base just a short time ago. Gary, what did the president say . Reporter alex, yeah, President Biden leaving Rehobeth Beach earlier than scheduled after monitoring these domestic and international events. Heres what he said just a few minutes ago. Are you going to talk to prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, anything to say . Yes, i will be talking with him. Can an All Out War In The Middle East be avoided . It has to be. Weve already taking taken precautions relative to our embassies and personnel but we are not there yet. Would you intervene in a Coworkers Strike if they strike on tuesday . No. Its collective bargaining. Reporter so starting with the Middle East, President Biden made a little bit of news saying he is going to be talking on the phone with the israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that is the first time he will be doing that since August 21st. So they will certainly have a lot to talk about. Top of mind is ensuring that theres not a regional all out war. Issothing that is very important for not just the united states but all of the united states allies. There was a statement that came out from germany, france, england, all making sure that things stay as cool as they can in the region. As it relates to what is left of Hurricane Helene across the southeast, he said his Fema Administrator is in florida and working as hard as she can to coordinate efforts from there but as weve seen and as George Salinas and others have been showing us all afternoon, the absolute devastation across western North Carolina, nothing is on the schedule yet for President Biden in terms of a visit but i would be surprised if he didnt try to make a stop in some of the affected areas. I agree with you on that. Its devastating to see all the destruction. A new turn in the israel hezbollah escalation. A key question about one particular Bomb Hitting one particular target. Dell ai. Lawmakers as tensions rise in the Middle East after an israeli strike killed the bola leader. Its good that Hassan Nasrallah is dead. Hes a terrorist, hes killed so many innocent people. So i think the message has been sent, and my hope is that theres not further conflict in the northern part of israel. Itll be up to the iranians to decide what they will do but i will tell you i believe they will find themselves in a precarious situation if in fact they do escalate this on their part. Nbc news is reporting that israel used in americanmade 2000 Pound Palm to kill the hezbollah leader. Does that drag the usa to this conflict in ways that the administration says that its trying to avoid . I dont think so, the reality is that Middle East conflicts are international conflicts because of the complexity of the region and the players involved. We know that hezbollah is number 1 and number 2. And we also know that hezbollah is a terrorist organization bigger and stronger than hamas but we also have to look at the larger theater that is at play, they have friends like china, russia, iran, they have started to reengage, they control the red sea, which is a Core Door responsible for 1 Trillion in trade. They just downed an american plane. So we have to be looking at justice, which was the death of nasrallah but also how to De Escalate continued and further tensions. Is there any blame to be laid on the biden administration for not leveraging its influence to at least mitigate the escalation of this conflict. The fears are rising that the u. S. Could get dragged into another war in the Middle East. Doesnt have leverage to inspire Benjamin Netanyahu to listen, biden just said he will be speaking with him later today. Yes, i wont be on that call, but if Theres Anyone that i trust in this situation, its President Biden who has served for decades on the senate foreign Relations Committee and understands what diplomacy is, how to use it and how to leave the door open at all times so you can reengage. The reality is that this theater is very large, as i mentioned, and with all of the activity that is happening, we have to ask this real question, what are the honest incentives for a resolution, and i can tell you there are a lot of players in the region that have something to gain with the further escalation in war and those actors that want that do not include the united states. So Kamala Harris made her first trip to the border in three years on friday as Donald Trump repeatedly using immigration as a Attack Line against the Vice President. And has promised to extend bidens executive actions that restrict asylum and said that she will increase prosecutions of those who cross illegally. Do you support her tougher on Immigration Approach and how important was it for her to go to the border . I absolutely support Vice President harris and her proposal. It was great to go to the border, its good optics but addressing the sources of immigration, that the substance that matters and theres only one person running for president that understands that immigration does not start at the border. That person is Kamala Harris, whos been working on the root causes of immigration and thats what i cofounded the noble Migration Conference in caucus. People are fleeing their countries because of dysfunction and because of eco disasters and because of acute poverty, sexual violence, persecutions, and dictatorships. It was democrats who pushed for a bipartisan bill that got tanked by Speaker Johnson and trump. Its Kamala Harris who is pushing for the renewed energy for one of those plans and also understands that engagement includes development and diplomacy. The Vice President told Wisconsin Public Radio that she would support eliminating the filibuster to restore abortion rights. Senate Minority Leader mcconnell opposes the idea saying it will break the senate. Do you think its a good idea and what if democrats dont have the majority after the November Election . We are going to work to make sure that we keep the majority come november, mcconnell also said that if we got rid of the filibuster we would look like california and in the words of Kamala Harris, mitch mcconnell, say it to my face. You elect people to senate and they cannot effectuate change because there are Stenosis Mother places who are running the clock on important issues that matter the most like and safety, abortion rights, voting rights, the majority of americans support those issues and they have been held up because of the filibuster, which dilutes representation, and it stalls action, its a Power Grab for certain senators and its a relic of the past that was not helpful in 2024. The Harris Campaign aired this new Ad Yesterday Trolling trump for not agreeing to another debate. Should they let it go or do you think americans want to see Trump And Harris faceoff again . I dont think anyone once to see Donald Trump anymore, she had told him completely. They should continue to troll him. Hes the biggest bully in the united states right now. So troll away and ask him to show up and debate. He does not know the issues and american people. Thank you so much. What its like to come home and see your neighborhood destroyed by a hurricane. [music playing] breaking news, desperate efforts, Search And Rescue, take taking place right now in North Carolina after Hurricane HeleneUnleashed Catastrophic flooding and mudslides. At least 66 deaths have been confirmed across five states and down in florida, Governor Desantis reported 190 people have been rescued as teams are working around the clock to search homes that were in complete obliteration. How are Relief Efforts going down there . Reporter minutes ago we began moving north of Treasure Island and we have now entered another community, a different city thats right next to it, this is the city of indian rocks beach, two of the deaths have and reported here. I want to show you one of the businesses where We Saw the owner come in. They are now clearing it up, so this is what it looks like when people come back to these properties after they were flooded. Now the problem here was the storm surge. They had about two feet of water in these properties. They are about 2 to 300 yards away from the golf. You can see the lining, Everything Inside was damage, tables, appliances and people are helping to clear out some of the stuff and this is just one of the buildings. When you look at these buildings from the outside, they look fine but then you look inside and this is what was left by the storm. Now, we came here with fema, this area has been closed for the General Public. They are allowing residents to come back or Business Owners to begin the cleanup and as you mentioned, we are still seeing some of the Search And Rescue missions take lace just down the road from us. Earlier we spoke with a representative with the state of florida said this about what theyve seen. Water is the number 1 killer you know, thats why the Evacuation Orders exist, you know, and so our mission when we first get here is to see where the heaviest Hit Areas are and see if Theres Anybody that needs to be rescued. There was reports not in this county, specifically, but in this part of the state where floodwaters push people into their addicts just like We Saw with hurricane katrina. Now, we spoke with her earlier today as we started making our way up the barrier islands, that was just south of us. Weve moved into an area where there are reports of two individuals who were found this weekend. It looks like construction behind me but this is the sand that was pushed onto the street, with that storm surge. You can see what looks like a beach or an area where they are doing construction but thats the sand that they are clearing up. When you walk through this area, its hard to believe theres a street under there and we are going to get out of the way because they are trying to clear this street, to put it over here, while as you can see, youve got traffic from some of the residence. Again, this is only open to residents and Business Owners who were coming in to clean their property and assess the damage, not to the General Public because they are worried that individuals can come up here and they are worried about losing, other situations that happen when people come into the areas that shouldnt be here, i also want to show you what it looks like over on the side, these are all the appliances that were in the restaurant, its the Cookie Coconut thats what its called and the owners tell us that shes been working on Cleaning Things up and she started yesterday when she was allowed back in but essentially this is what Business Owners and residents are coming back to, alex. That is just terrible but weve gotten word about all the hundreds of road closures, you my friend, are showing us exactly why the roads have been closed. Okay, guad , things for your time. We will focus on politics next and Fight Night for the Vice President ial candidates when minnesota nights nice meets make a meets make a maga. We will take a look. New today, predictions from both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris surrogates as Vp NomineesTim Walz and Jd Vance gear up to take the Debate Stage tuesday and what could be the final debate before the President Ial election. Tim has been a complete disaster in minnesota, and whats happened is, hes so good at being this folksy nice, down to Earth Guy and tell people get to know him and his policies. He is not wellliked because once you get to know the real Tim Walz, hes like Avenue Summon a flannel shirt. Thats who Jd Vance is, hes a phony and opposer. What tim Walz Need to do is do what he does every day which is to show up and be himself and hes also a coach, im sure, you know, hes ready for game day. Girls, welcome back, lets get into it. Jd vance, look, hes more of a skilled speaker then Donald Trump is, but does that mean that his weird views as Tim Walz puts it and likely would say it on tuesday are easier to hit back against . I think something we have to watch out for with Jd Vance is the fact that he does something that you know, he is good at taking the Crazy Trump Policies and making them sound intelligent and something we should be excited about. So that is something that Tim Walz will have to counter, but i think this is mostly upside for the harris walz campaign. This is an opportunity for Tim Walz to focus on the policies of of their campaign because most people dont decide who they are going to vote for president based on the Vice President , so i think people want to get to know him more but i think he has an opportunity to talk about their economic policies but on the other side, Jd Vance, Donald Trump is really old, so when voters are looking at this debate to see, can Jd Vance step into the presidency, hes going to have to make the case to them but the thing that i think that hes going to have to juggle is sounding like someone who can be president on Day One but also, he will be performing for an audience of one, Donald Trump. So i think itll be hard for him to make both groups of people happy. Ashley, Walz And Vance will speak at podiums. The microphones will only be muted at the discretion of the moderators. What kind of effect do you think the smaller procedural details are going to have on the mental game and how voters interpret the debate . So, i think a couple of things there. I think as shaniqua said theres only an upside for Governor Walz here, and Theres Room for embarrassment for Jd Vance, since getting into the race, his favorables have gone down Wheres Walz has gone up, and with both gentlemen being in a race where they are both pretty much widely still unknown at the national level according to the polling, theres a real opportunity here i think, to relate to voters and that is where the related ability really comes into play for Governor Walz, and i think its been talked about it i think this format will set him up well. You know, shaniqua reference that he was a coach prior, he has gametime capabilities to be able to turn on the magic and lets also remember that he came up with the weird term for the republican ticket which caught fire. He has a way to socialize things in a way that is relatable to all americans. I think voters will look at this and compare and contrast and again, the numbers dont lie. Vance and his favorables have continued to plummet and as shaniqua mentioned, this is for an audience of one when it comes to his performance and im surprised that trump has not fired him yet because of it. Shaniqua, the Vice President role doesnt afford lots of power, but after january 6th, their role in certifying the election results, its far more prevalent than it used to be. Will vance be questioned on the 2020 election and what would he do in 2028, and can that be an effective opening for walz . Absolutely. And i think the moderators have to ask the question. Hes been asked that question before, he said if he was in Mike Pence position on 2021, he would not have certified the election, so i think we already know the answer but having him say that on national television in front of a bunch of voters who are trying to decide which campaign they want to support will be really important. You know, he is dangerous, he is someone who has been able to use his higher education credentials, his career credentials, to present himself as someone who is going to do good by the country but he has a lot of dangerous views that they are coming up and all of these Podcast Interviews that he has done and hopefully more of The American public will be able to see that during the debate. Ashley, i want to get your reaction from what we heard from Trump Last Night AboutVice President harris. , mentally impaired. Joe biden became mentally impaired, was born that way. And if you think about it only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country. Anybody would know this. Look, his team tries to get him to focus on the issues but theres 37 days to go. Is he even capable of mounting anything but personal attacks . No, this is his playbook, unfortunately, and its something that is quite insulting that he just degrades and insults and this is acceptable and that hes even allowed a second term or trying for a second term at the white house, given the amount of attacks that hes lost on just about every type of person that can be out there, which is just again, its just the divisiveness of his rhetoric and it shows that hes not going to be a president for all americans. Its quite frankly, disturbing. And you mentioned his strategists can even get him to align when it comes to talking about policy which, he would have a real opportunity to do but instead he just has to stick to the same old trump talking points which is, to be as ridiculing as he can. So i hope that voters see this and take it into account on Election Day. This is not somebody who is fit for office. Ashley and shaniqua, i look forward to seeing you guys lets try for this next Sunday Night so we can go over what happens on tuesday night. Tuesdt another free. Today we are hearing from voters as the President Ial and vp Nominees Storm critical Swing States where the polls are razor thin. Julie, pennsylvania is certainly front and center for both sides of the President Ial contest. What are voters telling you . Reporter alex, we are in allegheny county. This is one of the two counties that actually decided President Bidens victory in pennsylvania, a key Battleground State not only for biden but of course for Kamala Harris and her opponent Donald Trump back in 2020, i talked to voters around here and get this, i found one that is a first time voter, a young person, somebody who is independent, register that way, fully undecided when he was heading into these last critical month and this is what he had to tell me, watch this. Before harris got into the Race And Biden was still in the race, were you deciding to go for President Biden . Not at all. I was like, ive been saying this whole time, i do not like trump, i dont agree with a lot of his values, personal values, and with Joe Biden, watching the first debate, it was like, he was not all there and i was like thats not someone who i want running the country. So harris stepping into the race made it an easier choice . It made it easier, so that someone on the democratic side is strong. Reporter alex, voters like Seth Klein that you saw on your screen are exactly the kind of people that harris is hoping to turn out when biden made the decision to step out of the race, letting her step in, especially as she tries to clinch the Battleground States. Shes up in a lot of the key states including pennsylvania but its within the margin of error, and definitely by the likes of seeing trump here later today in erie, pennsylvania and the others, storming the state. Itll be pivotal as we close in on this last election. You got the jackpot voter, hes also a frat guy. Thank you, julie. Breaking news just now, a short time ago President Biden said he will be speaking with the israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu soon. This is as idf said it has launched new Strikes Today against hezbollah and the leaders in lebanon, two days after israel killed israels hezbollahs leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Weve been concerned almost since the beginning of this conflict about it broadening, widening, becoming a regional war. We will certainly make sure that we have the capability to not only defend our troops and our facilities, diplomats and military as well as israel itself if it comes to that. Hopefully it wont. Give me a sense of what you think this conversation could look like at this point between biden and Benjamin Netanyahu, what should it look like, and are you at all surprised as our correspondent reported earlier that they have not spoken since August 21st . Not surprised about the delay in speaking, biden has typically been very diplomatic, upfront in his support for israel, and israel being allowed to determine what Self Defense means, privately, there have been tough conversations but clearly, Benjamin Netanyahu particularly with the war in gaza has been engaging in a way that he feels is necessary. He lost not only his minister of defense, people from the war council, but what has really shifted now, with this war on hezbollah, is that number 1, hezbollah, and issuing the targeted strikes and number 2, that was the opportunity for Benjamin Netanyahu to talk about a Ground Invasion, getting rid of hezbollah, once and for all. That is something that has gained the support of some of the people who had left Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition and suddenly Benjamin Netanyahu is in a much more powerful position in israel which also means that united states has to navigate not just the challenge of Benjamin Netanyahu, but the entire israeli electorate. So iran has vowed that the strike that killed nasrallah will not go unanswered. What are the rest and worst case scenarios on how iran might respond and is there a scenario where iran responds directly . So lets start with you ron is not interested in a direct confrontation with israel and the united states. Ultimately, thats what it would be, given the united states and their extensive support for israels military capabilities and defense capabilities but iran does still want to be able to operate and protect its interests, thats essentially what they were doing on behalf of the iranian regime. We saw that iran did launch strikes into tel aviv, the Iron Dome System has a phenomenal way that the usn is really, protecting the citizens of israel but that was a direct strike on the targets. That may be an option that iran pursues. We are still waiting for what irans tactical response will be to the killing of the Hamas Leader on their ground in iran, and now, we are starting to see another one of their Proxy Leaders was killed in this attack in beirut. Iran has a lot they need to answer for to stand as if they still have power in the Region But Itll be tricky because we dont want to see the united states ultimately in that direct confrontation. John kirby this morning said we need to see efforts to De Escalate, is it too late for that . Benjamin netanyahu has to be willing to deescalate and that has to be something that the united states is accepting within the definition. Clearly others in europe and the Middle East see israel as unnecessarily escalatory, the united states has not necessarily said that. So a Ground Invasion of beirut which many are advocating for, that may be the problem the united states has to wrestle with. Thank you so much for that and that will do it for Alex Witt reports, we will be back next saturday and sunday 1 00 eastern
