An extremely high death toll. More than A Thousand wounded. There are Traffic Jams in southern lebanon, and The Valley where some of the strikes hit, there were concerned parents picking up kids from school, saying theyre not going to take chances with children, leaving them out in the open. Of course the Big Question now is how will hezbollah respond to this onslaught, it has much more in its Military And Arsenal weapons than it has used so far. About 175 hezbollah projectiles have made it into israel. If this becomes an allout conflict, chris, we are looking at much more long range missiles potentially going deeper into israel, and the kind of war that we could see between israel and hezbollah, if, indeed, it does devolve into an allout conflagration, could be a lot deadlier and messier, and certainly a lot more damaging in terms of civilian life and civilian infrastructure on both sides of the border, chris. Theyre literally calling him a chicken. Tell us more, though. I mean, theyve had a lot of fun with some of this stuff. What do we know about how its landing . Right. Kamala harris and the democrats clearly want another debate. They felt good coming out of the debate last month against Donald Trump, and they would like another stab at having tens of millions of americans be able to watch the two square off. Donald trump has not agreed to the Cnn Debate that the Harris Campaign said just over the course of this weekend that they wanted to partake in. Ill let you listen to what this digital ad thats going on billboards, but also on mobile billboards. I want to let you listen to a little bit of it. Now for his part, Donald Trump just this weekend at a Campaign Rally in North Carolina was saying that he wanted to debate at one point on fox, but that Kamala Harris wouldnt agree to it, so at this point in time, it appears to be a standstill, but we should note when were looking at this here for Donald Trump, this comes at a moment in which he sees Nbc News polling down by 5 percentage points nationally. He sees Sun Belt Battleground states in North Carolina, georgia, and arizona, all that show him in the lead in the key Battleground States. For him, this is going to be a really important part of all of this. Also, though, i want to let you listen to another bite from Donald Trump over this weekend, in an interview, which at the forefront of republicans minds if Donald Trump to lose this november, what would be his plans going toward 2028, take a listen. If youre not successful this time, do you see yourself running again in four years . No, i dont. That would be it. I dont see that at all. I think that hopefully were going to be successful. Hopefully well be successful. Of course Donald Trump is 43 days away from this election, and he has already laid the foundation saying this has been interfered with. Theres a lot of republicans with political ambitions, and those that are simply activists that may be looking for a new future for the republican party after trump, who take note of that answer in regards to how he could potentially play a role in 2028, saying he does not intend to run for president again himself, chris. Not a great candidate. Not a lot of enthusiasm behind him. Not a surprise now that a bunch of his staffers are quitting and people continue to suggest to former President Trump that he rescind his endorsement or at least try to create more of a distance and disavow this candidate that could prove to be problematic in a Swing State that is as critical as North Carolina. For former President Trump, if he doesnt win North Carolina, he could lose the whole thing, and his team knows that. Strategically, theres a tough line to walk there for former President Trump, chris. Have you gotten any indication from anyone close to the former president that hes thinking about Disavowing Robinson . Reporter as of now, it doesnt seem like hes going to take that advice, including that advice coming from the two senators from North Carolina. Ted Bud And Thom tillis who have basically said, look, if youre claiming, robinson, that this isnt true, you need to provide some evidence and have conversations with your god about this. Look, the former president typically even when there is a scandal has not rescinded endorsements in the past. Hes worried it might make him look weak. These allegations are really something else as we have been talking about for days now, chris. Dasha burns, thank you for that. In alabama, an intense Man Hunt is underway for multiple gunman behind a deadly Mass Shooting in birmingham. Nbcs Marissa Parra is following this for us. Investigators believe the shooting was not random. What are they saying . Correct. They believe that this was targeted. No word on a motive yet. And they also believe there were multiple people involved in this, chris. I want to take you to the people that were either injured or killed as a result of this. We talked about how at least 17 people were injured. Four people lost their lives. Youre looking at some of the ones were learning about. 21yearold anethra holman, 27yearold taj booker, 27yearold carlos mccain, and 26yearold Roger lynn patterson. We talked about how at least 17 others were injured. We know 12 victims have been released from the hospital. Five still remain. And weve talked about this investigation. Theyre combing through video. They have surveillance video. Cell phone videos of the chaos theyre currently working through, and they have upped the reward money, upwards of 100,000. Thats between the fbi and crime stoppers. The largest reward they have offered. All of this in a plea. This is what we heard this morning from the police chief. Some of the individuals that work here have extensive criminal histories. Because of that, theres oftentimes motivation from others, and there are people who are willing to pay to have them killed. There were some innocent victims we know that were injured at the Mass Shooting. But the crux of the people who were targeted had criminal histories. And, chris, i will add quickly here, we know roughly 100 Shell Casings were discovered. They do believe an automatic weapon was used here. Bottom line, the defenses request, not met. The Governments Request was. Ryan ruth will remain behind bars. That is according to a u. S. Federal judge. We were in there under three hours. A couple of notable things i want to flag. Previously he has been referred to as a suspect whos facing Weapons Charges from the same incident that is being investigated as an Assassination Attempt. The prosecutor bluntly said that prosecutors believe ruth was at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach last sunday, eight days ago with the explicit attempt of killing former president Donald Trump. The prosecutor said that while there is not a charge on the books with that right now, that they are planning to present evidence to a Grand Jury in the days ahead, and that is one of the charges that prosecutors will be pursuing. Another thing that i want to note, Defense Attorneys Cross examined a Special Agent who was on the stand about the evidence found so far, as i go through my notes here, and a couple of things i want to flag that the prosecutors apparently do not have evidence of at this point. According to the Special Agent, he was not aware of footage of Ruth Holding the rifle found at the scene. Theres not footage of roof at the fence line. Theres no footage of Ruth Crossing The Street from the Golf Club or footage of ruth at the scene at all. We know our team had been looking for Surveillance Footage from the area as well, and it appears according to authorities so far, the footage they have found does not show ruth at the scene as of yet. So that is some more information we learned about evidence. We also are learning more about other incidents. Were trying to track down some facts around that as well. But, you know, a lot of new information coming out. I think the thing that stands out, at this point, prosecutors are saying, they think Ruths Intent being in florida, and in the area around three weeks leading up to the incident, the intention, according to prosecutors, was to assassinate the former president , and i can tell you ruth, having been in court with him for about three hours now. He was in a blue prison uniform, a white shirt underneath. His hands and feet were shackled the entire time. He had his blond hair swept back. White fascial hair. He was largely not reacting to what was going on. He did appear to be nodding at times when his work or efforts around Ukraine And Taiwan were mentioned. Those seemed to be the only times i saw him reacting. Prosecutors are now referring to a letter that they say that ruth apparently gave to someone in a box months ago. And in that letter, you could see it on screen right there right now. Im going to read a portion of that to you. Bear with me, weve got a lot of different paperwork out here. The letter, which was allegedly addressed to quote the world said in part, this was an Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump, but i failed you. I ride any best and gave it all the gumption i could muster. The prosecution made the argument, making one argument why ruth should be kept behind bars, argued the person who gave the box with the letter to authorities is someone that ruth would know, and would now be in danger. I believe i have seen ruth shaking his head no in response to that, as if he wasnt a danger to the individual. We know the defense in making the request to be released said his sister, Ruths Sister was willing to house him in North Carolina and support that bond. So a lot of new information coming out. Bottom line, ruth is being held behind bars. Not being offered an opportunity for bond, and the prosecution is saying we will see a charge in the days ahead directly accusing him of trying to kill the former president , chris. Going before a Grand Jury, Jesse Kirsch, a lot going on. Thank you so much for the update. The more voters know about Kamala Harris, the more they like her. Our new Nbc Poll shows harriss favorability nationally has jumped 16 points as i said july. Does that match the feelings in the counties that could determine the outcome of this election in november . Nbcs Shaquille Brewster is reporting from sturgeon bay, wisconsin, and shaq, you are in a closely divided swing county, but they voted for every president ial winner since Bill Clinton back in 96. What are they telling you now in 24 . Reporter chris, that historic rise in favorability that You Saw in our Nbc News poll is being reflected in a lot of the conversations i have been having here, and thats even the case among those who say theyre still waiting to make that final decision on who to support in this president ial election. A lot of people explaining they didnt have a strong opinion of Vice President harris when she was not at the top of the ticket. I want you to listen to some of the conversations i have been having. Has your opinion of Kamala Harris changed . Mine has changed favorably because i was negative about it. Shes done a reasonably good Job Of marketing. Im surprised at how strong she is. I honestly kind of didnt know she was there for a few years, because i didnt feel like she did a whole lot. I would much rather have her than to be frightened of having trump in the office for another four years. I like her positive attitude, that were going to go forward. Were not going to go backwards. I definitely have come to the conclusion that shes capable. And shes proved that in the debate, and shes proved that since then. Reporter that last couple says theyre still undecided, though theyre traditionally republican voters. Something we also saw in the poll, Vice President harris had an advantage on the question of which candidate best reflects change. One word of caution there. One lady that i spoke to her. She says shes planning to back former President Trump in this election. She said harris represents the most change for her, but for her, she said it was the wrong kind of change in this election, chris. So interesting, shaq, thank you so much for that. I want to bring in mark mckinnon, former adviser to george w. Bush. Megan meghan hays, is with me on set. I found that to be interesting. When you go out, especially in cities or in places that seem to have a very strong political identity, there is shock that people have not made up their minds yet or dont follow it as closely as a lot of people do who may be in our circle. That suggests to me that people are listening, didnt though, are still making up their minds, but what do you take away from the small sampling in the very key county. I think its exactly right. Someone said that she was relatively unknown to them. We know meets with World Leaders. For normal people, the president takes the oxygen. She was relatively unknown, and they had the convention. She gave an incredible speech. She has been out talking about womens rights, and reproductive freedom, and laying out the policies for the commit. People are learning her story and seeing that she can be a leader, and thats what were seeing here is people now believe she can be a leader. She can be the president , and she does perform strongly and has leadership capabilities, which i think is what was unknown before those major events. The poll shows key Voting Blocs have moved in harriss favor. The biggest change is among voters, 18 to 34. Black voters, female voters, but still not quite enough to see a clear path to victory. So what are you watching for in the coming weeks . The key here is at least to this point today, harris has won a narrative war. This campaign was about one thing, to fill in the blanks of Kamala Harris. She wanted to do it one way, Donald Trump another way. I cant remember a time a president ial candidate 40, 50 days from an election had a positive rating. Thats remarkable. Whats more remarkable is that the incumbent Vice President is seen as the candidate of change in an election when people really have an appetite for change. Thats quite a Messaging Trick to be an incumbent and become the candidate of change. Thats just really key. All of those demographics blocks are important. Shes killing it with women, younger women. Shes stabilized and brought up the level of older voters and hispanic voters. I think the real key is not so much on undecided voters. I dont think there are that many of them. The key is unregistered voters, and how many are going to be newly voting and i think theres a lot of that going on in the radar. Were going to do a segment later in the show. Some of the numbers of new registrations are pretty impressive and, in fact, record setting, but if you look, meghan, at the new fec filings over the weekend. Kamala harris raised four times as much as Donald Trump. 257 Million just in august. How do you spin that to get to that small, one, two, whatever you think the percentage is, and how do you message. I think the campaign has been on the ground for a lot of the year. The Biden Campaign put together an impressive operation before the Vice President took over the top of the ticket. Its a lot about boots on the ground. Obviously its about being on air and on radio, getting the message out. A lot of it is being on the ground, knocking on doors, and talking to voters. Thats one of the things thats going to decide, North Carolina and georgia. Its getting those voters to turn out for the democrats. For north carolinians, may prompt some democrats to turn out. All of these things help when you are winning in the coffers and not having to pay legal fees. Its helpful for her. Democrats feel they have a chance to flip trumps home state of florida. Do you see anything that suggests that part of the money shes taking in, and again, it is significantly more than Donald Trump, should be spent in florida, that it would be money well spent. Zero. Hes acutely aware of obviously not only what has happened here in the united states with Donald Trump, but also whats happened globally. Hes been briefed on that. The other thing is hes going to lean on the new York City police department, which he knows has a lot of experience doing this. And thats why i think at this point he feels like, look, we can weve go to try our best to keep people out. Weve got to do our best to keep protesters out and, basically run safe lanes to get all of these Heads Of State to and from the u. N. Safely. Thats his vision. I covered this for year, i lived in New York for 26 years. There were three years that i was a correspondent at the white house, and i saw this from the inside. You realize the enormity of it. There are World Leaders, top assistants, again, there are spouses. New York Citys Midtown East is chaos. I dont even i cant wrap my brain around it except stay on the west side. Thats as far as i get now. Yeah, i mean, this is arguably the most complicated Security Operation anywhere in the world. Right . And it happens every year. But you also, chris, have to look at whats going on right now around the world, and Law Enforcement is talking about this year being particularly unique in that regard. It was less than a year ago that October 7th took place. This is the first General Assembly since the Israelhamas War kicked off. There have been thousands of protests in new York City as a result of that. You have the ongoing incursion into ukraine. What are we seeing here . Its just like traffic just parked, wherever you are. Im sorry. Thats okay. It is a morass down there, right . You also have, of course, the uptick in domestic violence, the failed Assassination Attempts and just general instability. All of that combined to create a different Threat Level for this General Assembly, and that is something that makes it more complicated. Yet, what were hearing is a high level of confidence, that if anybody can do it, the people who are in charge here know what theyre doing. I think their Thought Process coming from them is, look, we not only have the experience of having done this before, but to the point was touching on a little bit is that were going to shut off the airspace. I think the feeling is if you isolate the u. N. And isolate the potential issues, we have a decent chance of success. Theyre going through this process for the first time. We dont rely on them to come to us. We reach young voters where they are through social media, campuses, brands they shop with, and where they work, but also through the Culture Touch points, the wnba, Last Night in a playoff game, fans were reminded that you could register or check your Voter Registration straus. Were breaking down the steps to voting starting with registration because that is the first barrier for these new voters. But also leaning into the issues that matter to them. We know that Gen Z is very passionate about the future of this country, and about the issues at stake. Colyn, wh do you do between now and Election Day . We know that a number of these states, it will be too late to register, although a few do obviously have same day Voter Registration, but what do you do from now to then . Yeah, so, its not just about Voter Registration. Its about walking them through the Process Step by step to cast their ballot. Andrea, we all know that there was a little bit of a surge when Taylor Swift decided that she wanted to get people to link, frankly, to your team at vote. Org, encouraging people to register. What do you folks have going . The knock on a lot of young voters has been they just done show up on Election Day. What do you do with all of those new people who have registered to vote . I think the real important thing is registration is only as good as actually getting someone to the ballot box. For us, we really focus in on once somebody is registered, how are we communicating with them, telling them when early voting is started, what their Polling Locations are. How they can participate, when they can vote by mail. That sort of thing. So people have all the information they need to actually show up and vote ahead of or on Election Day. So we also will partner with students on campuses all across the country to make sure they are spreading information to their peers for national Voter Registration day. We partnered with celebrities to get information about registration and get out the vote this year. We think its really important, once someone is registered that they commit to registering at least three other people. Really all of us, you see the Big Influencers like Taylor Swift. We are going to be the best people to communicate directly with our friends, family and loved ones. This Year Everybody has to do their part by registering themselves and also getting everyone else to participate as well. Mark, if Record Registration turns into Record Turnout, and we also know and both of these fine women have talked about misinformation, and how that, you know, has been a disincentive for some people to even register to vote, does Record Turnout increase the likelihood that challenge legal challenges could delay the outcome. Best Case Scenario is Record Registration means Record Turnout. Does it make it more likely that we might not know who is president on Election Night or for some time after . Yes is the answer. I think anytime you have something new in the equation, it gives ammunition to say, hey, something different is going on here. I think the really story of the election is not going to be undecided voters. I think its going to be unregistered voters who newly register and vote for the first time that these organizations are doing such a great Job Of. Were just hearing about massive numbers of newly registered voters and i think theres a conventional wisdom that a lot of that may be helping harris. I have seen videos of Charlie Perk in turning point usa, young conservatives, massive rallies on campuses. Theres lots of stuff happening. The polling looks at history. It models things with a mirror, but not a Per Scope looking ahead. Its looking at models from 2020 when people werent really very excited about that election, theres a lot of excitement about this election, so i think that its very hard to predict because of these newly registered voters and i think we will look back at this election, and say they are the ones that made the difference. It shows a herd of eight Bulls Pommelling through their pen and using the Event Entrance as an exit. Charging through the Parking Lot and jumping over a fence in a bid for freedom. It wasnt long before they hit the town. A man on his porch captured six of the bulls just per using a residential area, 40 miles outside of boston. Cowboys eventually came to the rescue. I have never said that on the air before. Wrangling seven of the bulls, some of them stuck behind a fence in someones backyard, but one of them is still out there somewhere. The rodeo is currently under investigation. Some serious stuff now, because five Tufts University Lacrosse players remain hospitalized following a workout, led by a School Alum who recently completed u. S. Navy seal training. So you think of exercise as building up your muscles, well, if you exercise and you do it too much, its excessive exercise. It can actually break down your muscles. And when that happens, it creates a condition called rabdomyealisis, and what happens is when the muscles break down, they release contents into the blood, particularly a protein that can damage your kidney. It can cause kidney failure, and it can even lead to death, and thats apparently what happened with the Tufts Lacrosse Team a week ago. 50 players took part in what the school is calling a voluntary workout. 12 of them came down with rabdo. Five of them remain hospitalized. What condition they are in, we do not know. The school is not telling us. Why did this happen other than they went through this grueling exercise, 45 minutes . Were not sure about that either. Only 45 minutes, though, because these are pretty, i would think, well conditioned athletes at that level. Oh, yeah, theyre division 3 ncaa champions, so they are in very good condition, you assume. But i think what happens is if theyre not properly hydrated, if they are exercising in these extreme way, their bodies just, their muscles break down, and this protein goes into their blood, and suddenly they have serious issues and its happened before. There are about 26,000 cases of rabdo every year. In the past, its happened to the University Of Iowa football team, the texas womens university volleyball team, and most recently to a couple members of the university of oregons football team.
