Its a familiar playbook that has served him well with his maga base, but its done no favors for his president ial bid. Just minutes ago he got off the Campaign Rally Stage in North Carolina where the states republican gubernatorial Candidate Mark Thompson who he has endorsed but was nowhere to be found a few days after his salacious comments on a pornographic website resurfaced. Before we get into the situation in springfield, ohio, i want to get to the controversy surrounding North Carolinas Mark Robinson who is facing calls from some republicans to drop out of the race after provocative comments he made on Adult Website over a decade ago. He refers to himself as black nazi, calls for return to slavery, and said he enjoys transgender pornography. He denies he made the post. Former President Trump has stood by his endorsement and yet he did not appear with him at his rally in wilmington, North Carolina, just hours ago. What is your reaction . I think him and trump have a lot of things in common. Its really a shame that the republican party is allowing people like him to be running with that kind of background. If you look at it really closely, you see he aligns with the hateful politics, hateful rhetoric and the divide and conquer strategy. Theres no room in our democracy to have anyone, even somebody as a Governor President who has these beliefs. A black nazi . I cant believe we would be looking at a candidate who calls himself a black nazi who said he enjoyed watching homosexual encounters but then tries to condemn and team if i the community. It shows they will Go To any length to convince people to vote for them for a complete Dichter Shape Dictatorship and not one where they are living a life of dignity within economic standard all americans should have access to. Lets turn to the situation in springfield, ohio. Trump has said he would visit within two weeks after his comments at the debate earlier this month when he claimed without evidence that haitian migrants in the community were eating cats and dogs. Springfields Republican Mayor has said he hopes the Visit Wont happen. Ohios Republican Governor Mike Dewine wrote an Opinion Piece for the New York Times defending springfield. The haitians who he points out are in the country legally. As the cochair of the congressional Caucus And Daughter of haitian parents, what is your reaction to what has been happening . I am outraged and angry. More importantly, i cannot believe that we are living in this day and time where this is actually playing out. Donald trump is playing a dangerous game of divide and conquer. It is predicated on fear and intimidation. For him to win he has to blow the whistle to make sure these Hate Groups are activated. I think thats why we see an increasing amount of hateful rhetoric. They are coming in illegally. They are coming to kidnap your pets. They are coming to do this and that to your family. This is the fear mongering, but what is so dangerous is it is bringing us back to a time where Haitian Americans all over the country are feeling fear. When he blows that whistle its not just for ohio. It is for all those White Supremacist groups and Hate Groups around the country so now you have the threats to anybody whos reporting on it and anyone who actually identifies as haitianamerican. Being the only haitianamerican in congress and the first haitian democrat, being haitian american or a black migrant we have to shoulder two crosses. The first is the presumption of illegality. We always have to explain that we are here illegally through the proper paperwork. Even at this moment as a member of congress there are people that i have to explain to that i was born in the united states and my parents are legal. To believe we are living in this moment is crazy to me. The second burden we have to shoulder is being black. There is a criminality they always try to place on black migrants. We are here to steal, kill and do all kinds of thing. The truth is that Haitian Americans are very hardworking. When we enter the country its through a very intense Scrutiny And Vetting process. Before they came to the country they had to have a sponsor. The sponsor had to show they were financially capable of taking care of them through their stay. They had a Background Check to be sure there were no national security risks and an economic check. If you look at the criteria they place on Haitian Americans before they come to the country Donald Trump would not be admitted based on the criteria. For them to turn around and say we are here to harm when we have been rebuilding the city in ohio and the entire united states. I might add even the republican governor talked about how the haitian migrants in springfield, ohio have helped to rebuild and do jobs and started businesses there. The government has to agree on a Spending Bill. It has been reported that speaker Mike Johnson is expected to put forward a clean Spending Bill that can attract democratic support next week. After a republican backed bill with a provision requiring proof of citizenship failed a few days ago. Can you tell us what you have heard, congresswoman . The game he has been playing from the beginning is a political stunt. They have a storyline they are trying to sell of illegal immigrants coming in to do illegal activity. Theyve been trying to push the narrative about now they are voting illegally. He put it up knowing there is no evidence of immigrants voting illegally trying to get a political point with Donald Trump. The truth is they have ever since we started the session. I presume he will put forth and hopefully will put forth a clean bill because the american people need a clean bill but we need to identify what policies they have been doing and why they are risking our veterans and american lives to play this game. There is no place in politics for this gamesmanship. We have to serve the people first. Even looking at what he was putting forth, cutting 12 Billion from veterans is ridiculous. This is not the country people have sacrificed for and we have to put our veterans first. We hope you will come to his senses and stop trying to placate Donald Trump and the maga republicans. The truth is he does not want another debate because he does not want to be whupped again on national tv but i think we need to see more of it because he has no real mission going into the presidency. He keeps saying the rhetoric over and over again but what we need to hear from him is to hear more from our president ial nominee Kamala Harris. Shes been excellent. Shes been poised and able to articulate what she will do for the economy, how she will help the people of the united states and how she will unify the united states. To be honest with you the more time she speaks and the more time we see them debating im getting more hopeful. The people in my community are getting more hopeful. I hear from everybody not just haitian people that they are ready to vote. They are ready for a change in democracy where they actually have peace in the democracy and a unified country and we are no longer listening to this ridiculous concept and these fallacies and these fixations on all these people who are coming to get us. Former President Trump has said everyone supported leaving Abortion Rights to the state. Was this what she or her family wanted . Nobody deserves to be denied access to care because some politician has decided what kind of healthcare they can get and when they are able to get it. This young mother died of sepsis. Infection overtook her body because she was unable to get access to the care that could easily have saved her life. It is just a way for sanders to try to divide us. Juanita, lets turn to georgia where the controversial protrump state Election Board voted this week to require ballots to be handcounted in november. It is a move that could drastically lengthen the amount of time needed to tally results in the critical Battleground State of georgia. People have been warning of possible trouble from this. Is this the Opening Salvo of mischief from them in this make or break state . When i read this news the first thing that came to my mind was it just got a whole lot easier for Donald Trump to call an Election Official in georgia and ask them to find 11,780 vote like he did in 2020. Thats what it feels like. The fact that it is happening a month and a half before the election raises a lot of questions about the intention here to expect that the state has capacity to hand count nearly 10 Million votes is ridiculous. Im thinking about at the County Level what is the staffing plan. Im also thinking about security for the volunteers who we have seen threatened in the past when the results were released and then the delay about those results and having that impact the election outcome. I have a lot of concerns and if people dont have concerns about this i have to say, florida 2000. Remember the hanging chad. Remember the white men pounding on doors at Election Offices . It seems like a scary place to return to and i hope this is challenged in court because the only purpose is to create chaos. I remember 2000. I led marches and protests during that time. I think the number one thing no matter where you are talking to voters is around affordability. Many of our residents are priced out on many different levels whether we are talking about childcare, rent, mortgage, Prescription Drugs are just going to the Grocery Store to get food. They cannot afford it. They are hurting. Their pockets are hurting. They are paying more than 60 of their income to rent and mortgage. Thats the number one thing i want to focus on his affordability and put my dollars back into peoples pockets. Lets talk about black women who according to the 2021 census make up about 7 of New Jerseys population. Recent win makes you right now only the second black congresswoman ever to represent the garden state. Between that and the possibility of two black women serving in the u. S. Senate if angela and lisa are successful, and of course, the multiple ceilings Kamala Harris could break in november, what are your thoughts . I think it is amazing. I think lack women have always been the Back Bone to many campaigns. Theyve been the backbone to the household, the communities, now we are taking a step forward and going to represent in the seats we have not had the opportunity to do. It has always been about black women. It is just now we are stepping forward and getting those Front Row seats. I think the entire world is excited and thats why theres so much energy around Kamala Harris and why we are so dedicated to making sure she gets elected along with black women up and down the ticket on this nation. Several black Voter Outreach and civil rights groups mine included marked yesterday national black Voter Day by calling for voters to make sure they are registered. A lot has been written about how young black voters were torn between President Biden when he was still the nominee with Donald Trump able to make gains with young black men this election cycle. Vice president harris has been able to make some of that ground, but how would you advise her on courting young black voters with six weeks left . The one thing that the Harris Campaign has to do is focus on the issues of young black voters especially young men. Start talking directly to their issues. Start addressing their issues headon. We Cant Talk above voters. We have to talk to them. Meeting them where ever they are. I think if the campaign can focus on that it would help turned some undecided especially Men Voters her way. The campaign just needs to keep talking to them about their issues especially around affordability, jobs, student debt.
