I know that. I know that regardless of someones background, race, gender, geographic location, i know that people are deeply troubled. By what is happening to that community in springfield, ohio. And its got to stop. Youve got to say that you cannot be entrusted with standing behind the seal of the president of the united states of america engaging in that hateful rhetoric that as usual is designed to divide us as a country. Is designed to have people pointing fingers at Each Other. Its designed to do that. I think most people in this country regardless of their race are starting to see through this nonsense. And to say you know what, lets turn the page on this. This is exhausting and harmful and its hateful. And grounded in some age old stuff that we should not have the tolerance for so lets turn the Page And Chart a new way forward and say you cant have that microphone again. Im switching gears again. I want to talk to you about gun control. So you said you support an assault Weapons Ban and universal Background Checks and we learned during the debate youre a Gun Owner. But in cities like philadelphia, handguns are responsible for most homicides and violent crime. The most recent fbi data shows handguns were involved in 59 of murders in our country. How will you address the issue of the use of handguns because a push for an assault Weapons Ban only addresses a significant but small part of the problem. So, first of all, yes, i am a Gun Owner and Tim Walz is a Gun Owner and were not trying to take anybodys guns away from them, but we do need an assault Weapons Ban. Assault weapons are designed to kill a lot of Human Beings quickly. Assault Weapons Ban and have no place. Im going to get to it. Yes. And have no place on the streets of a civil society. We need universal Background Checks. Which to your point about handguns, is about saying that it is just reasonable to want reasonable Gun Safety laws that say we should do Background Checks that we ought to know. Its just reasonable. You might want to know before someone can buy a lethal weapon if theyve been found by a court to be a danger to themselves or others. Respectfully, we do understand that. Youre asking about specifically about handguns. Because many of those handguns arent purchased in places universal Background Checks apply to handguns. But in many instances, they are not even bought lawfully. Yes. Which is why ive been adamant for years. In fact, i protested at a Gun Show probably ten, 15 years about the Gun Show loophole and why we need to close that. Because what ends up happening is that Gun Shows at flee markets, gun dealers, are not under existing law in the past, required to register their sales. And so you are exactly right. That a lot of homicides, for example, a good number of them. I dont have the statistic in front of my mind, are committed with illegally purchased guns. Thats why we need to address each Entry Point in the issue, including universal Background Checks, closing the Gun Show loophole, and what we need to do as a general matter to focus not only on reaction to crime, but prevention of crime. So youre raising a very important issue that has many facets including what we need to do in terms of reasonable Gun Safety laws and what we need to do around crime prevention. What we need to do around crime deterrence. But listen. I have personally prosecuted homicide cases. I have held the hands of mothers who have come to me crying who have said i only want to talk to kamala because they knew when they sat down i would treat them with the Dignity And Respect that they were entitled and due, about the loss of their child. Often their son, to Gun Violence and the need to take it seriously and we must take it seriously. In every way understanding its not just about a sound bite. Its about a comprehensive approach that deals with the tragedy of, to your point, every day Gun Violence in america. Its real. It has had a profound impact in terms of trauma that for the most part has gone undiagnosed and untreated. The trauma that exists in communities around the violence of losing their children, losing a brother, a father, an uncle. We have to have a holistic response to it. Are there things we havent thought about yet because every time we bring up this issue of Gun Violence, universal Background Checks comes up and ban on assault weapons. Are there other solutions that youre also thinking about that will get at this issue . Absolutely. For example, part of what we did with, so we, as Vice President with the president , we were able to pass the first meaningful Gun Safety legislation in 30 years. And part of what that involved was millions and millions of dollars to put more Mental Health counselors in public schools. Right. Because we know that there is an aspect of this that is about treating the trauma. And dealing with it at its source before it ends up manifesting itself in a problem. There is the work that we need to do that is about putting resources into communities around violence prevention. Ive been a big advocate for that for years which includes what we need to do around putting resources into community based intervention that is not just requiring on the good people in the community to volunteer to do the intervention, but actually paying people to do it because its a fulltime job. Its about understanding what we need to do to again understand that to your point, we have to have a holistic response to this issue and prioritize it. Instead of reacting to the tragedy that sadly they are too predictable. Lets all agree. Enough of that. There are very few solutions that we havent thought of. We need put the resources into them. We want to move to the top of the reproductive access. Something that you have worked and leading on for the administration, democrats and now the top of the ticket. You said as president , you would want to codify roe if it came to your desk, you would sign a bill that did that. Roe protected access until fetal viability, which also says is quote about seven months but may occur earlier even at 24 weeks. So do you similarly support also codifying roes restrictions which allowed states to Ban Abortion in the third trimester of pregnancy unless necessary to save the Mothers Life . We need to put the protections of roe v. Wade back into law and when that bill gets passed by congress, i will proudly sign it into law. Understand what is happening in our country. Over 20 states have passed what i call Trump Abortion bans because to understand how we got here, the former President Hand picked three members of the United States Supreme Court with the intention they would undo the protections of roe v. Wade. They did as he intended and in state after state, laws have been passed criminalizing Healthcare Providers. I dont know if anyone here has heard the stories out of georgia. Tragic story. About a young woman who died because it appears the people who should have given her healthcare were afraid they would be criminalized after the Dobbs Decision came down. Laws that make no exception for Rape Or Incest which is youre telling a survivor of a crime of a violation to their body that they have no right to make a decision about what happens to their body next. Which is immoral. An approach that doesnt take into account that most people i think agree you dont have to abandon your faith or deeply held believes to agree the government should not be telling her what to do with her body. If she chooses, she will talk with her pastor, priest, rabbi, or imam, but it should not be the government of Donald Trump telling her what to do about her body and life. Thats where i stand. We need to put back into place the protection of roe v. Wade. End those restrictions that are also we need to put back into place the protections of roe v. Wade and let an individual in consultation with her doctor make the decision based on what she can determine because shes smart enough to know. Whats in her best interest instead of having her government tell her what to do. Especially a bunch of people in these State Capitals who think theyre in a better position to tell her what to do. Before we conclude, Joyful Warrior has been used to describe didnt see that a minute ago. Your opponent and republicans have at times weaponized you laughing in Campaign Ads for example. Why is joy important to you to insert into this election and what do you make of republicans using that as a way to suggest youre not a Series Candidate . Well, sometimes i think and ill say to whoever the young people are who are watching this. Theres sometimes when your adversaries will try to turn your strength into a weakness. Dont you let them. I find joy in The American people. I find joy and optimism in what i see to be our future and our ability to invest in it. I find joy in the ambitious of the people. I find joy in the dreams of the people. I find joy in building community. I find joy in building coalitions. I find joy in believing that the true measure of the strength of a leader is not based on who you beat down, but who you lift up. I think we should all find joy and have a sense of optimism about who we are as americans and what we mean to Each Other an what we can do to lift Each Other up. Did you, President Biden spoke to President Trump after the attempt on his life this weekend. Have you spoken to him . I have. And earlier today, i assume. Yes. How did that go . Sure. I checked on him to see if he was okay. And i told him what i have said publicly. Theres no place for political violence in our country. I am in this election in this race for many reasons including to fight for our democracy. And in a democracy, there is no place for political violence. We can and should have healthy debates. And discussion and disagreements. But not resort to violence to resolve those issues. On january 6th, your vehicle was allowed to kind of pass a viable pipe bomb. I was in the building. Weve seen whats happened from former President Trump. Do you have full confidence in the Secret Service to protect you . Do you feel feel safe, you and your family . I do. You can go back to ohio. Not everybody has Secret Service. And there are far too many people in our country right now who are not feeling safe. I look at project 2025 and i look at you know, the dont say gay laws coming out of florida. Members of the Lgbtq Community dont feel safe right now. Immigrants, people with an immigrant background dont feel safe right now. Women dont feel safe right now. So yes, i feel safe. I have secret Service Protection. But that doesnt change my perspective on the importance of fighting for the safety of everybody in our country. And doing everything we can to again lift people up and not beat people down so they feel alone and are made to feel small and made to feel like theyre somehow not a part of it or us. Thank you so much for your time. Thank you. Ive appreciated this. Thank you. Pleasure. Good to be with you. Im Katy Tur here in New York. It is 3 14. Joining us now, Aaron Gillcrist to talk about what we saw there. Vice president harris speaking to the national association of black journalists. This is in philadelphia where you are. It comes a few weeks after Donald Trump spoke to the same organization. This is where he questioned Kamala Harris racial identity. Its also where he said immigrants are stealing black jobs. What did she say today . Was there any, did she make any distinguishing points between what she wants to do if shes elected president and what the current administration has done in regards to any major policy . Reporter i think we heard the Vice President say many of the things she has said on the campaign trail. We heard in interviews shes done in the past as well as on the debate stage, this was an interview that lasted just under 45 minutes by my count with these three journalists. Two of whom are White House correspondents. One a long time npr journalists. They talked about Gun Violence and gun control. Gaza. The situation unfolding in springfield over the last week or so. Springfield, ohio. She talked about secret Service Protection and reproductive freedom. Again, many of these are topics weve heard her speak on before and she rearticulated some of her Policy Ideas around those things as well as her Opportunity Economy that she has said she would put in place were she to win the election. So i think we got a setting where there wasnt a written script, or this wasnt a campaign rally. This was a point when the Vice President was questioned about these things. On some of those topics, particularly on gaza, she was pressed several times by the journalist on that panel about her policies that she would want to see in place as a president , saying that she was asked whether there would be a Policy Change under a Harris Administration and she said that she believes the best way to create change in the Middle East is to get a Hostage And Cease Fire Deal done as soon as possible and then all other things that could happen in terms of a Twostate Solution with israel and the palestinian territory, those things are conversations that could happen, but only, she suggested only if a deal is done for the Hostage Release and Cease Fire in the Middle East. So i think again, a lot of the topics we heard addressed today were topics that people have been asking about and many of the answers we got from the Vice President were answers we had heard before for the most part. I was reading our Nbc News reporting from inside the room and one of our reporters said there was a frustration among the journalists there when she was asked specifically on reparations and the answer that she gave on that. Reporter yeah. She was asked whether she thought a reparations commission, a commission to study the experience of Black Americans in this country and whether there should be reparations for some of the inequities over the course of our time in this country. There are states around the country that have set up Task Forces to look at reparations and her answer essentially was that she didnt believe it would be necessary for Executive Action on that. That she believed congress would ultimately be able to set up a commission as an effort has come up over the years to do that. She believes that ultimately its something that congress would be able to do and start addressing these issues. She also noted there was a necessity to speak truth about history in this country. That there are people, and she did not name Donald Trump i dont think one time in the course of this interview, but she referenced things that she has said about him in the past. This being one of them. That instead of denying history, there should be an effort to speak truth to history. All right. Thank you very much. Joining us now, Staff Writer at the New Yorker, Susan Glasser and mark. Lets talk about guns. She says she spoke with Donald Trump after this most recent apparent attempted assassination, mark. Donald Trump And Jd vance are blaming the democrats for whats happening. Theyre blaming the rhetoric the democrats are using. Im going to sidestep guns and talk about rhetoric. Harris and biden have called Donald Trump a threat. Trump is saying that because they call him a threat to democracy, its essentially open season on him to try to take his life. Can you try to straighten this out for us . Is it fair to call Donald Trump a threat to democracy . Yes, of course, its totally appropriate for a candidate or a non candidate to say this. It doesnt mean theyre putting a bounty on his head by any stretch of the imagination. Its kind of a weird attempt to try to win points out of what is a very scary situation. You know, whats interesting is that when you contrast this to the first attempt on President Trumps life, which was deeply unfortunate which happened in i guess july, at least there was a nod for a few days to some kind of unity, some kind of ramping down the rhetoric and so forth. Today, it sort of the went from zero to 100 in a matter of 24 hours. I cant imagine its going to win much sympathy. Not sympathy, but its going to be a political winner in any stretch. Its also a very unpleasant Background Music to a campaign at this point. She was asked if she feels safe with the Secret Service and says yes, i do, but then said that not everybody has secret Service Protection. Certainly the people in springfield dont and yet they are still under threat. The town is getting bomb threats. Schools have had to evacuate. Classes have been canceled. Theres been a lot of disruption to life in springfield, illinois, yet Trump And Vance continue to talk about these unsubstantiated evidence free allegations against migrants and what theyre doing to local wildlife and pets out there. Even though mike dewine, the governor of ohio, said Theres Nothing there. Even though the mayor has said Theres Nothing there. Theres no evident to support what theyre doing but theyre continuing to go out and say that and theyre creating a Threat Environment for the town of springfield. Yeah. I thought that was one of Vice President s harris most impassioned answers when she sort of pivoted from the question of her own personal safety and her protection by the Secret Service, that of Donald Trump, to the broader question of trump and not only the division that he sewed in society, but the specific targeting of vulnerable groups in society. This was really where you heard harris talking repeatedly with i thought great kind of passion in our voice about this is kind of one of the Signal Threats posed by Donald Trump in this election. So i think youre right to underscore that. I thought it was interesting that she made a point of reaching out to trump and speaking with him by telephone today. You know, she and President Biden and democratic leaders on Capitol Hill have all quickly put out statements decrying political violence in the wake of the two attempted assassinations against President Trump but i think its part of a broader sense probably across the political spectrum now that people feel that this incredibly divisive campaign is leading to a Me Tas Sizing threat of political violence in various manifestations. To your original question to mark, i would point out that Donald Trump was considered and called a threat to the country and a threat to democracy in the 2020 election and the 2016 election as well. Weve only seen these incidents occur in 2024. But its hard to draw straight line certainly from anything that biden is saying or harris is saying to these terrible incidents. Its one thing to say you think the rhetoric is too hot and needs too cool down, but you have to do it yourself. Hes still calling harris a threat to democracy. Calling her comrade kamala. Hes still using the same language. So it doesnt ring so true when youre blaming the other side for doing the very thing that youre doing and more, susan. Yeah. I mean, im anticipating unfortunately more and more escalation as we enter the final 50 days of this campaign. Trump in 2024 is playing the same playbook he played in 2016 and 2020. He only knows how to run one kind of election. Thats a base election. That requires him i think by the logic of his campaign, to escalate and escalate his rhetoric to be looking for more and more opportunities to demonize immigrants. Thats been at the core of who he is as a politician since he started his campaign in 2015. And you know, hes going to be looking for more divisive issues to play on us. I do think in that sense that while it may not get him a lot of sympathy or new votes to talk about these assassination attempts, i think its probably effective in rallying his own supporters around him and increasing their perception that Donald Trump and they themselves are under a threat from the dangerous liberals in blue america. So 49 days until the election and were talking about just a few voters who are going to decide, look to beat the ones who will decide which way this thing is going. A few undecided folks out there and there are folks who say they want to hear a little more from harris about what her policies are, who she is, and what she believes. In watching her with the journalists there a moment ago, mark, do you think she delivered on that . I mean, somewhat. I do think that given the fairly short amount of time and the fairly short campaign shes had to sort of make herself known, shes been pretty deft at putting forward some pretty core believes. Whether its on bringing back roe v. Wade and all of the tenants around it. Being for universal Background Checks and so forth. Shes not spending a lot of time going into the policy. Going back to the earlier question. Its important she and biden reached out to Donald Trump. Not because they were providing such comfort to him under these circumstances, but because its the kind of thing that leaders do. Its the kind of thing that we expect in a country that is not in a civil war. We certainly dont want it to be in a civil war. One thing that Vice President harris said before we came on was you know, she had a really i think compelling spiel on how words matter. How when you have power, people pay attention to your words. You move markets. That kind of thing. That is an extremely important message and one thats been lost during many of the trump years. She is proving herself very mindful of that in a way that i think benefits her campaign. Thank you guys very much. Still ahead, we have a lot of News Today so you have to hold on tight. Rapper Sean Combs was arraigned in manhattan accused of truly horrendous Sex Crimes and violence. He pleaded not guilty. The indictment is gross. The allegations contained within it and then theres the Detention Letter. Just walk me through what hes been accused of doing. Sean combs is accused of being the head of whats called a Racketeering Conspiracy but the center of that is Sean Combs victimizing countless women for his own pleasure and that includes plying them with drugs and forcing them to participate in whats called a freak off, which are elaborate Sex Performances which he made them participate in Sex Acts and film them without their consent and using those tapes as blackmail material. It also allegations as part of that, he did a number of things to keep his victims silent and to keep his crimes from the general public. His employees silent as well. Correct. And other people around him who might have witnessed it who werent under his control. That includes other crimes ranging from kidnapping to arson to threatened Gun Violence. Is that why we didnt see that Hotel Video for so long . That video of him chasing cassie down and kicking her and throwing a Glass Or Crystal vase at her head. Why that took so many years to come out. Yes, because there was an attempted bribery of the Hotel Staff who owned that video and in many other instances, he, according to this indictment, was successful in intimidating people to conceal his crimes. Hiding them away in his residences or hotels to make sure they werent seen when they had visible signs of his abuse and assault. What did the Detention Letter say . It details even further violence but also sort of the wide breath of the evidence that prosecutors have at their disposal. They say they sent 300 Grand Jury subpoenas, interviewed over 50 witnesses. They have 90 devices like phones and laptops and 30 more like hard drives or thumb drives. They found a lot of guns. Including assault rifles. Two ar15s in his bedroom closet. And also in establishing that he is a violent and dangerous person to the community. Thats a factor they want to establish in order to show that he needs to be detained pretrial. They say for example he kidnapped somebody and forced that person at gunpoint to break into a third Persons Home and then approximately two weeks later, had his co conspirators throw a Molotov Cocktail into that Individuals Car and later bragged to multiple people who would be witnesses here that he lit that Persons Car on fire. I think they found 1,000 bottles of baby oil. Allegations that in order to cover it up, he would have his staff come into these rooms to clean things up to hide the evidence of what was happening in these socalled Freak Offs. That women would have to stay inside the Hotel Room or whatever place for days in order for their wounds, if they had wounds, to heal so that when they left, they would have no more apparent physical evidence on their bodies of what was happening. Is there any indication that anybody else might be charged along with Sean Diddy combs . We dont have an official indication that someone will but today, u. S. Attorney williams left that open at a press conference. Said he did not act alone. Im really glad that you raised the allegations about cleaning up after the Freak Offs because one of the things that i think distinguishes this case from some of the other major sexual predation cases is that it puts the focus on the conspiracy. While combs was the Beneficiary And King pen of that, it took the cooperation of many people to allow this to happen. I am surprised that it was able to go on for so long. They say this first started to happen in 2009 . 2008 or 09. And is it going to come to light later or possibly that the cops got tipped off that something was going on before then . I mean, it feels like a whole lot of time and a whole lot of people for nobody to come out with these allegations until cassie did. Right. Theres a difference between a Seng L Incident of what looks like intermittent Partner Violence and a wide ranging Sex Trafficking and Prostitution Conspiracy as alleged in this instrument. But one thing that i think has allowed this to come to light is New York passed a law called the adult survivors act that allowed women a Oneyear Window to file civil suits. It was within that year that cassie and the victim in the tape filed a 35 Million lawsuit against him last year. It was settled promptly the next day. It seems like those allegations are what kick started the federal governments investigation. So he pleaded not guilty. Can he leave . Right now, from what i understand and ive been monitoring twitter that arraignment is still going on. What theyre arguing about now is whether he should be detained pretrial. Wouldnt there be evidence, how much access he has to private planes, et cetera. The argument to let him go is that combs came to New York voluntarily, has been living here voluntarily for weeks even understanding an indictment was likely to happen this fall. Based on his lawyers conversations with supervisors. They say because hes been here of his own, that will show them along with other things hes promised in his bail package, this he can stay here. The government is buying none of that despite the 50 Million bail over on his behalf. Quite a bit of money. Lisa rubin, thank you very much. It is worth reading the indictment and the Detention Letter to get a better picture. Im sure more evidence if this goes to trial will come to light more and more disturbing evidence that the prosecutors may have including specific stories of what happened. Lisa, thank you. Thank you. Joining us now, Nbc News Capitol Hill correspondent, sahil. Whats happening on the floor right now . Reporter well, the bill is on track to fail much as we expected. The Gavel Hasnt dropped but senate republicans have put up more than 41 votes which is what they need to filibuster it. In other words, it will not get the 60 votes it needs to move forward. Its called the right to ivf act. It would establish broad protections for ivf for individuals who seek to access it and for Healthcare Providers who seek to offer it without restrictions. It was brought up by Senator Duckworth who used it to grow her own family. Republicans argue this was a politically motivated show boat, that its not necessary. That ivf is not illegal. Democrats came back and said it could be if states decide life begins at Conception And Treat fertilized embryos as children. Thats the debate right now. The only two republicans who have, who are voting for it at this moment are collins and murkowski. It needs to get to 60 votes. This is not a 5050 vote. This is a 60 vote for threshold. Reporter correct. I just spoke to Senator Duckworth about the path forward. She said the way this bill can pass is if democrats win the trifek ta. She told me she believes democrats would lift the filibuster, pierce the filibuster essentially to pass this with 50 votes. Thats a bold prediction but the only path this bill appears to have. Republicans have a narrower bill of their own that would cut off medicaid funding for states that prohibit ivf. Republicans have insisted they support it. Theyre not opposed to it. This comes after a recent debate after Harris And Trump where this issue came up. Harris said that under trumps abortion ban, states can enact restrictions that threaten ivf. Trump came back and called himself a leader in fertilization, in ivf. Insisted that he supports the procedure, but of course the policy details, how its actually protected, thats still a partisan fight between democrats and republicans. A leader in fertilization. Thank you very much. And in 2018, ireland became one of the last developed countries to legalize abortion. The Catholic Island has been staunchly against it for its history and while advocates had been trying for decades, the constitution was not successfully changed until the shocking death of a 31yearold Dentist of indian origin who was experiencing a late miscarriage at 18 weeks pregnant. Because abortion was illegal in ireland, doctors opted out of medically treated her miscarriage. Days later, she developed sepsis then died of a Heart Attack. Her story was so horrific to ireland that the deeply catholic nation decided the law just had to be changed with voters overwhelmingly choosing to amend the constitution to legalize abortion. That was back in 2018. Six years later, the supreme court of the united states would overturn roe v. Wade with 22 states deciding to then either Ban Abortion outright or to severely restrict the procedure. Georgia was one of those States Institutes a Sixweek Ban on abortion and leaving any woman who needed to get one to go out of state or seek alternate methods. One of those women was amber nicole thurman. A healthy 28yearold and a single mother already to a 6yearold boy. Thurman is now dead from preventable complications in her attempt to get an abortion much like savida in ireland and she is being label as possibly the first linked death to the overturning of roe v. Wade. You uncovered this. You did this investigation. Tell me about this mother. What happened to her . Yes. Amber thurman as you said was a 28yearold Mother who became pregnant last summer and decided to end the Pregnancy But Couldnt do that in georgia. Georgia had just outlawed abortion. So it took her weeks to figure out how to go out of state and take abortion pills. It should be said abortion pills, major medical studies and organizations have found theyre extremely safe and effective when taken in the first trimester but complications can develop and then patients should go to the hospital where a dnc will empty the uterus. What we know is that Amber Developed Complications and by the time she did go to the hospital, she was developing a serious infection. Instead of providing a dnc right away, the records show it took 20 hours before doctors intervened. They talked about it multiple times and her condition worsened. By the time they tried to operate an save her life, it was too late. Why did the Doctors Delay . Weve reached out to the doctors in the hospital. We dont know for sure what was going through their head. They didnt respond. What we do know is a lot of lawmakers that have passed these bans not just georgias, have promised they have exceptions for the life of the mother for medical emergencies but these laws are written in ways that experts say are confusing, not rooted in science. They threaten prison time if a prosecutor decides theyre not followed correctly, and doctors have told me this is change the dynamics of how they interact with patients. They can no longer say im going to follow my oath. Whats in the best interest of the patient. Now they have to also consider how does this look on the outside if a prosecutor decided to put this under a microscope. Would they agree this abortion was necessary. Even if they feel they can go ahead, they sometimes have to convince nurses and other colleagues to participate and those other colleagues have the right to decline in states like georgia. So even if a law has some exceptions when theres a threat of criminal charges and no clarity, it doesnt always mean patients dw et the care they need. When we say she died because of the overturning of roe v. Wade, whos making that determination . Well, what we do know is that a committee of experts, every state has a maternal Mortality Review Committee that reviews the deaths of people who were pregnant within the last year. And they reviewed this case and they specifically said that the delay in care providing a dnc is had a large impact on her death, that if she had been provided it, there was a good chance she would survive. We dont know again if the doctors were specifically responding to the ban. All right. Thank you very much. And i understand you have another investigation. Theres another woman that youre going to report on soon. Is that right . Were continuing to report on this. These cases are both from 2022. Committees are just looking at these cases two years later. So we are still continuing to report on this topic and if you have information, please reach out to us. Thank you very much. Joining us now, center for repr nancy northrop. All right. So, people were warning about this. This is what would happen in response to the overturning of roe v. Wade, when states were able to decide legally where abortion must be cut off or whether abortion should be allowed at all. Taking that Decision Making Power from doctors and making it a political thing. A legal thing. That the ultimate consequence would be that women would suffer and some women would die. Is this just the first of many stories to come . Absolutely. I mean, it is an outrage what happened to amber and it is just the tip of the iceberg. The Center For Reproductive Rights warned when the Dobbs Case was pending that women would die if roe v. Wade was overturned. Weve been suing in texas, idaho, and tennessee of woman who were at Deaths Door because doctors were afraid to provide life saving Abortion Care when they had Pregnancy Complications and we see that again here in this georgia case. Also part of a lawsuit against georgias Sixweek Ban, saying that it is inadequate, the Emergency Exception in the state of georgia. So this is what happens when healthcare is criminalized and tragically, this is not going to be the last case we hear of. Politicians, i dont know you dont want this is i believe Jd Vance talking about wanting to prioritize womens health. I would like to learn a little bit more about this case and understand the details a little bit better, but its an unspeakable tragedy it should never happen in this country and why we believe on the pro Life Side in the life of the mother exception. Okay. So hes talking about Amber Thurman in georgia and talking about the life of the mother exception. If theres an exception for the life of the mother, why is Amber Thurman not alive . Why is she dead . What were seeing in state after state that has banned abortion, when you are a Health Care Provider and staring down a long criminal sentence, if a Jury Or Prosecutor makes a different decision than you did, about this being lifesaving care, it is very hard to put your patients interests first in those circumstances. That is not the Way Medicine should be practiced. Medicine should be practiced with the patient at the center of the care. The standard of care should be given. It was so clear here that the moment she arrived at the hospital she needed to have a dnc. We started this segment talking about the story of saveeta the woman from ireland who died of sepsis and a Heart Attack after she was not helped with the miscarriage she was having at 17 weeks because ireland banned abortion. Catholic nation, banned abortion. It changed ireland and made abortion legal in ireland. Is this going to have the same effect here in the united states . Is this going to change peoples minds about the laws that are currently on the books . I think peoples minds have been changing since the reversal of roe v. Wade, even before r the majority of The American publ supports access to legal abortion. But then seeing the consequences of what happens when you Ban Abortion in a state it makes it dangerous for anyone to be pregnant in the state. You dont know if youre going to be the person who has Pregnancy Complications. It is very similar to what we are seeing anywhere in the world, where abortion is criminalized, that you see the kind of Health Impacts on women and people realize they dont want to have doctors having to provide Health Care with a criminal potential prosecution over their heads. Yeah. I wouldnt want to be pregnant in the state of georgia. Ill tell you that. Thank you very much, nancy. Appreciate it. At least eight have died and more than 2700 injured according to the countrys health ministry. The group is blaming israel for the explosions, though they have not provided any evidence. Israel did not respond to requests for comment on the accusations. Joining us from Tel Aviv is Nbc News international correspondent raf sanchez. Raf, this is a truly weird story. What happened . Katy, like something out of a spy thriller. Around 3 30 p. M. Beirut time according to hezbollah the pagers used by hundreds of its members detonated simultaneously and you are now seeing lebanese hospitals absolutely flooded with wounded people and, katy, many of them have identical injuries. They have wounds at the Waist Level where those pagers were either attached to the belts, where they were being kept in a pocket, where they were being kept in a side bag, and this happened all at once. Youre seeing hezbollah members some of them walking down the street, Others Shopping in a supermarket like the man on the cctv in front of you. Others on the backs of motorcycles. All of them simultaneously suffering these injuries from these Exploding Pagers as you mentioned, a number of civilians appear to have been killed including some children. Hezbollah is saying they have no doubt that israel was responsible for this, and they are now vowing retaliation earlier tonight. Israels top military leaders got together to prepare for a potential hezbollah attack. Now israel is refusing to comment one way or another, whether it was involved in what appears to be, katy, an Intelligence Operation on an unprecedented scale. I spoke a little earlier to former Cia Director John Brennan and asked him have you ever seen anything like this. He said, no, not in the pantheon of israeli Intelligence Operations has ever anything gone at this level. While israel is refusing to say whether it was involved, this did come several hours after israel announced that it had foiled a hezbollah attempted Assassination Plot here in israeli territory. Apparently using a land mine. The Deep Fear in israel in lebanon and across the region this may be another step bringing us closer to allout war between israel and the powerful hezbollah military. It is pagers and this is a Communication Effort that hezbollah was using postoctober 7th, so again, who knows. Im sure well get to the bottom of it at some point. Raf sanchez, thank you very much. That is going to do it for me today. Deadline White House starts right now. Hi, everyone. Its 4 00 in New York. What bigger symptom could there be of the rot that has hollowed out the republican party than its Leaders Pattern of treating the real threat
