You know, in the midst of this moment where there are people trying to divide us as a nation, trying to make people feel small, these are moments that remind All Of Us that we are all in this together. We need a President Of The United States who works for all the american people. [ applause ] just stop with all the trying to divide us. People are exhausted with that stuff. [ laughter ] chairman, welcome to the table. I am get a pay for that later, folks. Look, i think we are all kind of curious and excited about this new Way Forward, the battleground tore. I think it is smart politics to get out on The Street and push your in space with real people. It has her having a direct conversation with the american people about her plans and so we gives her a chance to, again, drill down on the economic issues that are front and center for a lot of voters. But, of course, in the backdrop, there is this noise. I will play it for you, Donald Trump on friday in las vegas. Talking about the debate and what he thought happened. She Cant Talk about it, getting the answers, what is the story about that . Did you get the questions . Yes so i hear she got the questions and i also heard she had something in the ear, something in the ear. No, kamala, do this. Okay, kamala, be quiet. So, i play that because, to the Vice President s point, this man is unserious. Yes. So the fact he is running close in this race, to me, is offensive, because it says a lot about us as americans. If you believe this guy, number one, but you still got to run the campaigns through that noise. What is your pathway from a political standpoint . Running her plays, the dnc is doing the blocking and tackling on the ground, you are getting on the bus tour, a lot of Moving Parts out there. How does this all come together over the next 52 days . I think you hit the nail on the head, he is unserious, he is unhitched, he is a diminished man. He really, he got his due on that Debate Stage from the moment the vp walked onto the stage and said, hello. She walked into his face and said, hello, i am Kamala Harris. I like that. That was impressive. What we are doing at the dnc is what we are doing the last three and half years, focusing on the infrastructure of the party to win a close race. You know, better than anybody, that infrastructure is so core, making sure that your State Parties have the resources to run strong core campaigns. We have done all of these, we have come into the door and if you dont have an infrastructure to handle the volunteers, that is wasted energy, time and resources. Guess what . We got the infrastructure. We didnt tear down our infrastructure. We build up on top of what we had in the midterms. So right now, we got, what, 300 offices, over 2000 and we are adding staff every single day on the battleground states. Look at the other influenced states. I feel good where we are. We are getting those people now, they are knocking on doors, making Phone Calls and sending postcards. You are seeing the crowds. You dont build crowds like you saw in greensboro and in charlotte without having the staff on the ground to recruit all those People In, to vet some of the people who are coming to be part of it. That means you have to have some infrastructure so people need to know what they are doing and we got that right now. I am proud of that. Talking about people who know what they are doing, mr. Chairman, one of the big pieces of news this week with the Harris Campaign ramping up their outreach, including hiring four new hispanic seasoned operatives in the field, big ad buys. How is the work we are seeing from the Harris Campaign to speak to voters being amplified at the dnc . It is so, so core and so important. You know, about a year and a half ago i started having these conversations with Latino Men. Some of the dynamics we see with black men, in terms of just, you know, not being as enthusiastic about the democratic party or the democratic Party Brand and, you know, in essence thinking the party sometimes is soft on certain things. Some of those same trends i saw with black men i am seeing with black latino and Latino Men. We start to have these conversations on how we engage, what are the pressure points, what are the things Latino Men want to hear from the democratic party to ease the issues they have in their communities . How can they provide for their families . We are learning the economic pressures were unique to them they are facing. Those conversations have continued with our campaign staff. I feel really good about how we are leaning in. Right now what we are seeing, not only with Latino Men but also black men, we see it in the republican party, they cant help themselves, the Mag A republican party, look at how they go after the venezuelans, how they go after haitians. As a result of them doing all the craziness, they are just helping me prove my point that dont sleep on florida, right . These are communities does take 300,000. 300,000 asians. Dont sleep on florida, folks. Florida, florida, florida. Every time they go after one of these communities, they are in these very crucial states. We are going to engage and talk with folks, my phone has been blowing up with Hispanic Americans and haitians calling me saying what are we going to do about these republicans coming through our community . We see that across the board in the black community, in the latino community, in the Aip Ac communities. It is really important at this point. We talk a lot about, i think, in general, not us, but the Media Apparatus about these persuadable voters in the middle and the scary small subset of folks who are there and they do exist but when it comes to the average, youre talking about the specific black men, Latino Men, um across the board, young people. It seems to me that you all are , which we have long seen, you are trending based on that. We still have to be persuasive. They have to be persuaded to come out and energize to come out and informed on why they should come out. That is the job of the party. The party has to play the key role. Having the resources that we see coming in from the Harris Campaign, along with what we are raising at the dnc, that allows us to do things we have not done in the past. Right now, i am engaging with some of our allies folks and groups and actually being able to bring real resources to the table. Okay, go out, do your various things, Micro Grants in communities because it is not just the grassroots, it is some of the folks in the grassroots, that person on the corner that everybody goes to. How should i vote . Who are you against . What are the issues . We all have those folks we know are in our communities. Now the dnc has the resources to provide those Micro Grants to those folks to say, okay, have folks over. You know, here is the money for food and all this other stuff. Educate them about what is going on and what is important and who is best for them and their communities. Those resources, the New York Times reported on thursday that 47 Million flowed into the Harris Coffers 24 hours after the debate. That tally, share by the Harris Campaign with the New York Times included donations from 600,000 individual donors. I want to stop there and put a pin on it. She raised 81 Million in the first days of july that number, the 47 Million is impressive. That is a lot of money. The most important number to me is the 600,000 who gave her money. Now, a couple things, as you know, one, a lot of those donors are going to be repeat donors, number one. More importantly, number two, this is something that is an important strategy, in any election cycle, you see this. You are seeing that kind of energy where your volunteers, 300,000, 400,000 people are volunteering, 600,000 people are donating. Resources will not be a problem for the dnc. It will not be a problem. Resources are not. When you have 40,000 new volunteers signing up in florida, you have 40,000 new volunteers signing up in pennsylvania. You have Tens Of Thousands of volunteers in North Carolina. I want to be on the Record Right here, we are going to win North Carolina. I dont know if yall saw those forums, i have spent, in the last six months, four trips to eastern North Carolina, not to charlotte, not to raleigh, not to durum but to poor black folks in rural counties and talking to those folks. We are going to win North Carolina this election cycle. You know, it is partly because the energy is on the ground. People want to do this. As Michelle Obama said, they want to do something. They are ready and fired up. The vp said it. They are tired of all of this anguish and this Vitriol And Division they are getting from Donald Trump. They are ready for a little bit of hope. The lie appears to have originated from a third hand in a doe posted on a private facebook group chat. The woman who made that post now tells Nbc News she never meant to spread false rumors. But it only took a matter of days for that Line to go from the darkest corners of the internet to the office of the former President Of The United States. Angela, after the debate, we were all on the set together and we said this is what is going to happen, this rhetoric is dangerous. We have seen this before, this is one of those times. Yeah, i think that is the part that is more striking. You saw that sort of, you get someone in that Facebook Post and that gets picked up by a bunch of neonazi groups. Telegram, gab and other places try to push this story over and over again. You sort of lose the original thread. Now they just conjure up other pieces to this story. And then it starts to make its way over to to x and it picks up Trash Can and takes off in early september in the days leading up to the debate, which i dont think is a coincidence. There is more and more chatter about it so you start to see a 100 increase and then it makes its way into the feet of j. D. Vance and from tenders September 6 to september 9, 4000 increase On X in discussions and conversations about this and then you have somebody like Laura Loomer, a preacher of the right Wing Fever media squad. Certainly, he reposted it more than 800 times alone on truth social or he is getting it directly from Laura Loomer as they are chatting on the way over to the debate. Either way, this manufactured thing gets ginned up, juiced up by Extremist Organizations and gets amplified and picked up by the candidate himself because he knows this is organizing power on the fringes and they are not backing away from it even though it is widely debunked. They are siding random things and trying to legitimize and validate it, the focus on the bogus lie in the beginning. This is the cycle we will face in the coming weeks as we get closer and closer to election day. This is, um, it is so dangerous. It is affecting other elected officials. Jd vance is the united states sitting senator. Is not like he cant get information. He knows better. The Attorney General of ohio is one of the main perpetrators of this racist why, this conspiracy. You have the Clark County Commission president who talked about the impact of this on springfield on tuesday. She said after the election is over, we got the soundbite, just play that. After the election is over and everyone is still using springfield, ohio as a Talking Point and immigration reform, we are the ones that will be left to live out the challenges and find the solutions. I urge my family low Clark County inns to stop feeding the fear and use your energy to be part of the solution. The rumors of this information are circulating nationwide and are detracting from the real issues we face. The County Commissioners said this hours before Donald Trump would make this claim on the Debate Stage where it was amplified to 67 Million people. Mr. Chairman, i just, i just wonder, the dnc has put out statements, democrats have been forcefully, you know, beating back this conspiracy theory, this racist lie, the rhetoric but what else can they do . These people are connected through Social Media. It is getting amplified through political figures. The purpose is actually to create the conditions for the Bias Or Violence and the vehicle for political power. That is all it is about. There are people who really believe it, they are hopped up on misinformation. Some people dont believe it but dont care, either. Like ted cruz, those of the world are doing it solely because i think it is a political strategy to get power. That is disgusting and more dangerous. They are doing it for power. They are not fighting. Johnsons proposal includes a measure that would require proof of register to vote with citizenship in it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote. The added measure means even if johnson somehow gets approval in the house the Bill Is Doa on the senate. The clock is ticking. Congress must pass the Spending Bill by October 1 to keep the government running. Democratic congressman Joe Neguse joins us now. He is trying to get, Speaker Johnson is basically trying to get his caucus onboard. Donald trump, um, specifically posted on truth social for republicans not to support any piece of legislation that theres not have Voter Id attached to it, Voter Id is proof of citizenship. That is what alicia was talking about. This is a major point of contention for democrats, like myself. Talk about where things are with this bill on the hill. At the end of the day, Government Funding will run out. Yes, look, this is largely a smokescreen for republicans true intention. They would like to shut down the government. President trump has been very clear about that. As has his sycophants in the united states congress. It is a crisis of their own making. It is important to know how we got here. Year and a half ago, there was a bipartisan agreement with President Biden of the fiscal Responsibility Act that Set Funding Levels for 2024 and 2025. That is the agreement they are seeking to breach. As you mentioned, they have an extreme partisan resolution that includes the Voting Measure you just described, which is that the project 2025 trump inspired provision and other provisions that unfortunately would put our country in a negative way. They couldnt even get the votes on that hyper partisan resolution a few days ago. The time for games is over. Alicia he said it well, the clock is ticking. They need to work with House Democrats on a bipartisan path forward as we have done in the past. You know, the past is prolonged. It will take a while to get to the conclusion, which will be funding the government, as we must do. The interesting part about that is that u. S. Senator, now Vice President ial nominee Jd Vance has perspective on this. This is what the senator said as he tried to explain his support for a Government Shutdown. Why shouldnt we be trying to force this Government Shutdown fight to get something out of it that is good for the american people, like why have a government if it is not a functioning government . So the interesting thing about that little tidbit was, you know, Jd Vance is on the record as saying before he doesnt like continuing resolutions, which he is now advocating for. You are, quote, rubberstamping more money for organizations like the taliban and an open border. This is the harebrained thinking that has infected republican leadership, which is feckless on a good day. How do you, do you just let this Play Out, as House Democrats . You just go, all right, yall go ahead and yall got the majority, do your thing and let us know when yall are calling this, call us for the vote because we will be ready for what is your strategy, besides making, you know, weve got to pay the nations bills. We have to put money in the coffers going forward, which you are being reasonable and rational about, working with unreasonable, irrational people. A couple of things. House democrats will show leadership, as we have through the duration of congress, notwithstanding we are the minority. We have, in effect, had to serve as if we are in the majority so there is some semblance of governance in the u. S. House. That is, in large part, because of Leader Jeffries and his strong and remarkable leadership over the last 20 months. We will continue to extend the hand of partnership but let me just say, the quote you just showed up Senator Vance, deeply dangerous in my view. It reflects this myopically nihilistic view of government of the Core Functions of government. It may not matter much to Jd Vance but i assure you, it matters a great deal to his constituents. The readiness of the veterans, supporting Core Functions of the federal government is at risk once again, just so republicans can play politics. It is reckless. I dont think people will stand for it. I am sorry, congressman, they are willing to shut down the government in service of a problem that does not exist. This is from the brennan center.
