Time flooding the zone with a flurry of Campaign Events across the Battleground States using this Labor Day to make their case to Union Voters and organized labor. Vice president harris kicked things off in detroit, Shawn Fain of the united auto workers, and randi weingarten. Unions help build america, and help build americas Middle Class. It is true across our nation, and it is true here in detroit. For generations in detroit and across our nation, the Brothers And Sisters Of Labor Have stood together to Righteously Demand fair pay, better benefits, and safe working conditions. And let me say, every person in our nation has benefitted from that work. Everywhere i go, i tell people, look, you may not be a Union Member, you better thank a Union Member for the fiveday workweek. You better thank a Union Worker for sick leave. You better thank a Union Member for paid leave. You better thank a Union Member for vacation time. Because what we know is when Union Wages go up, everybodys wages go up. When Union Workplaces are safer, every workplace is safer. When unions are strong, america is strong. So what we know is as we fight to move our nation forward, Donald Trump intends to pull us back to the past. Were not going back. We are not going back. Meanwhile, governor tim walz is taking the very same message to Union Workers and labor leaders in minnesota and wisconsin today. Well show you some of his remarks when they happen. And this is just part one, the start of their Battleground Blitz on this Labor Day because at this hour, Vice PresidentKamala Harris is on route to pittsburgh where she and president Joe Biden, a native son of pennsylvania and a staunch supporter of Labor Unions will join forces on the Campaign Trail for the very first time since president Joe Bidens History Making Decision and endorse his Vice President , Kamala Harris. They will be joined today by Pennsylvanias Power House governor josh shapiro. Well bring you those remarks later in the program when they get underway live. Make no mistake, this orchestrated Power Play for Blue Collar voters, a play that involves calling on some f the most talented voices in the Democratic Party stands in stark contrast to whats happening on The Other Side, the events of the disgraced, twice impeached, four times indicted expresident. He has decided to spend his Labor Day at maralago, and notably as the New York times reports, trumps Campaign Calendar is not clear, end quote. 64 days until the election, mr. Trump. Tictoc. Its where we start the day with experts and friends, former republican congressman, msnbc political analyst, David Jolly is here. Also joining us, professor of history at nyu, ruth is back, and with me at the table for the hour, professor at princeton university, eddie glaude. We watched two minutes. She is strong and getting stronger. I have always been a fan of her retail political skill set. I thought when she launched her event and political historians will write their own history of her sort of Life Span as a candidate, but i have always been impressed by her political talents. She gets stronger every day. And ive seen her give this stump speech. It sort of always happens to be when im On The Air. The benefit of getting to watch a lot of her events live. Shes just very good at this. Shes getting better and better. It has a lot to do with what it feels like to be unscripted. The more she gives the stump speech, the more comfortable she is with the content, with what shes saying. Shes improvising in and around the hit lines. You can feel the emotion that shes bringing to the table. So its really really wonderful to see a political figure evolve as weve had a chance to witness from 2010 to ive known her even when she was ag of california to now. Its really really powerful to witness. You know, and this is, i mean, David Jolly, since this campaign started, the Harris Campaign, she is a campaign within a political phenomenon. We can cover the polls, as though its some clinical exercise, but the reason shes up every week is because Theres Something happening in the country, and you see it in your normal life, and then i think especially i was away last week, and so i sort of saw it in my regular life. People who dont necessarily watch what i do every day, but i know in my normal life, we have these people in our lives, are only mildly interested in what we do 24 7, election year, not election year, have questions about whats going on. They have heard about this Harris Walz ticket. I think when you then zoom in and watch an event, you can see why. Theres something happening on this democratic side. Thats right. Vice president harris finds herself leading a political unit. Theyre doing it because of her message about optimism and looking forward and not going back. Theyre doing it because they feel confident in a vessel in someone that can beat Donald Trump, perhaps when they looked at Joe Biden previously, they couldnt. I also think they see today is a perfect example, a remarkable contrast between candidates. I love this kind of holiday Labor Day setup that were watching at between harris and trump. First the optics of Donald Trump sit Like Ritchie rich. Hes sitting there by himself, ringing his bell for diet coke. Vice president harris is out there with Raucous Crowds of Working Class voters across the country, and the other contrast that we seem to often lose in the trump years is that there actually are policies that matter. Right . Donald trump says ill be the most pro Union President you have seen, while also knifing unions in the back because he doesnt understand the policy. The truth is republicans of the path could at least articulate their reasoning for what you call right to work laws, which dont allow compulsory Union Membership to get a job. You see higher income and lower wages. You see higher executive pay, more payout to shareholders. Vice president harris they support the right to organize. If youre going to participate in a trade economy, often you are going to join the union, and those unions are going to protect your benefits and give you higher wages. Youre going to see higher wages. Vice president harris and Joe Biden can have those Policy Conversations where Donald Trump doesnt, and the reason it matters, not just for the opportunities for Working Class voters there with Vice President harris, but despite all of the movement and the enthusiasm behind Vice President harris, the fundamental foundational Strategy Today that will decide the election is the blue Wall Strategy in pennsylvania, michigan and wisconsin. Even though we have seen the numbers continue to grow for Vice President harris, those states are still up for grabs, and without them, the Vice President doesnt win the White House. Shes putting in the work today, Donald Trump is sitting at his golf course. You know, ruth, theres been something thats reoriented and you said something that became a North Star for me this summer. We talked about despair as a tool of the autocrat, and i think that harris is the anecdote to despair of this moment of a flood of disinformation. If you spend 90 seconds on the social Media Platform owned by elon musk. I think its called x now. I still call them tweets. I dont know what you call xs, it was a wash in despair, and i think this Harris Campaign has Reoriented American Politics around the idea of humility. I mean Theres Humility in the Workhorse Strategy to campaigning. Theres arrogance in what trumps doing down there. Sort of gorging on screen time, and whatever else hes doing with his day, angrily tweeting things that arent rooted in truth. Theres humility in the Workhorse Nature of this candidacy. Shes out there on route from one event to a second event. That walz is spanning out, working for the vote, asking people to vote for them, presenting a policy difference. I want to play some of the way she contrasts herself to Donald Trump. This, too is from detroit. But ill tell you, i think that there has been a certain backward Thinking Approach over the last several years. Which is to suggest some folks, them folks to suggest that the measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you beat down instead of what we know, the true measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up. Who you lift up. Thats the measure of the strength of a leader. Lets stop with the nonsense. I just, i love how she puts the autocratic message back down where it belongs. Its nonsense. And im going to take this fight to him, but lets call it what it is. I love that. Its very moving. One of the reasons people are thronging to the events in record numbers is that we were ready for this. I think that we havent quite taken the measure of how much we have been affected, also psychologically, and socially by being assaulted by trumps messages that he doesnt care about americans. Remember in iowa, he said to the caucus attendees, you know, you should come out even though its very cold and even if youre sick. And if you vote and then you pass away, it will be worth it. You know, worth it to who . Worth it to him. So we were ready for some leadership, real leadership, that is based on empowerment of others, that is based on care, and thats what you see with them. You know, Harris And Walz out there every day, working hard to connect with others to have a positive message that the togetherness is very important. The autocrat, its all about, you know, dominating the crowd, the individual and the crowd. And we have talked about how the core of authoritarianism is taking away the rights of many, and making the many feel abject and humiliated and giving more empowerment to the few, to the elites, to the billionaires. And the Harris Walz Formula turns that on its head, and its really moving to see. And it doesnt work unless people respond to them, and let me play some more of how i think shes connecting. This is Vice President harris again in detroit talking about her childhood. Many of you know my parents met while they were active in the civil rights movement. When i was young, my parents and i see some young leaders here today when i was young, my parents would take me to the meetings. I see our young leaders, and take me to the marches. I was in stroller. And from a very young age, i learned that when people stand together, when we join voices, knowing that the vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us, when we join those voices, we can drive extraordinary change, which is why i believe in my heart and soul, No One should ever be made to fight alone. We are all in this together. Were all in this together. Whats amazing when you listen to that and when you sort of pull that up and lift that up as her message, is how much Success Trump had in making us feel like we were in this fight alone, and we werent. I mean, even just here, you and david and i had a lot of these conversations over the last nine years, and ruth is newer to the table, figuratively speaking. When you hear that message of fight together, and you lift that up, you realize how far trump traveled in gaslighting us. Right . I mean, that message feels like an epiphany. You know, i think trump entered into an environment, nicolle, where folks were working hard, busting their behinds and they werent making ends meet. He entered in an environment, a lot of folks felt alienated. There was a sense in which we want to say, trump is all of this stuff, but he was exploiting what ordinary people were feeling, and so what does it mean for Vice President harris to step into this environment and just say no, if were going to address the conditions under which we live, were going to do it together. We Cant Outsource or responsibility. What she does so brilliantly, pulls the narrative of Ellis Island through her parents and takes the 20th Century revolutions of the 1960s and pulls it through her biography and gives it to us. Not as a moment of alienation. Not as a moment when big government put his thumb on the scale, but as a moment when democracy morphed for all of us, it began to expand for all of us, women, black folk, Theres Something, i was thinking about the comment you made with ruth about despair being the kind of language, or the material, the money of the autocrat. And detocqueville talks about the strange melancholy that defines this place, the gap between who we say we are and who we actually are. Politicians can come in repeatedly and exploit that melancholy. Donald trump did it in his own unique way, its something in the soil. And that until he faced Kamala Harris, he had the ability to sort of cloak our politics in it. There is some spell that she has broken. I think so. Because, you know, she represents possibility. Right . That hopy thing. Right. That hope thing. This is who we can be if we decide to. Right . She doesnt have to announce that shes a woman of color. She doesnt have to announce that shes a black candidate. All that, been there, done that. With Hillary Clinton and obama. Every time she walks into a room, thats already ignited. Right . And so now the we question is will she give it content, and shes beginning to do that. Theres flooding. Flooding us with content, if we care to sort of, i think, take it, and thats why well continue to dive into her speech. I want to show all of you more of what she had to say. Again, we are waiting on governor walzs event. And were in this wonderful time slot. Shes landing in pittsburgh, and as soon as her Pennsylvania Event gets underway, we will show you all of that live as it happens. No one is going anywhere. Theres so much more to talk about. Still ahead for us, following the very public rebukes of Donald Trumps Visit To Arlington National Cemetery from the u. S. Army. They never do that, but they have done that. Thats how bad he is. Well look closely at the expresident s long time contempt for the american military and the men and women in it, with someone who saw it firsthand, as he grew up in his home. Donald trumps nephew, Fred Trump, will join us on set with what he wrote on his book on that topic. Later in the broadcast, as we mentioned, president Joe Biden will make his first joint Campaign Appearance with his Vice President since stepping away from the ticket. Well bring that to you and much more when deadline White House continues after a quick break. Dont go anywhere. Dont go anywhere. Its time to grow your business. Create a website. How . Godaddy. Look, if your most famous line is, youre fired, you sure as hell dont understand workers, right . The words i want our next president to say to workers whomever she might be is, i got your back. This guy just doesnt get you or your life at all. I dont think he could tell us what the difference is between a flat head and a phillips head screwdriver, you know what im saying. You think hes ever swung a hammer or used a Power Tool in his life . Oh, hell no. You think hes ever scanned a coupon at the score to save money as hes checking out . You think he ever sat down with a number of family bills, knowing he could only afford to pay some of them . Hes never struggled. He doesnt know what the average Persons Life is like in this country. Were back, David Jolly, what the Harris Campaign and all of the sort of political luminaries who make up the democratic bench right now have done for the first time since 2016 is turn the narrative about Trumps Story against him. I remember folks covering trump in the primaries in 15, and 16, when the helicopter landed in iowa. It was a novelty. The Iowa State Fair were so enamored with trumps celebrity and wealth. They had turned those things into a liability, and theres a whole body of fantastic reporting i think that has helped arm these democratic luminaries and politicians with the goods. But i think he is and i dont know that he knows this i have no idea what his state of awareness is about his political vulnerabilities. I think what he has been deprived of, and in part with the lawsuits in New York, finding that his whole business was a fraud, but these politicians have also turned this into being out of touch and turned it into a political liability. Oh, nicolle, this is exactly right. I dont think this part, this narrative of the campaign is fully developed, and this is where i think we could see the greatest expansion of Vice President harriss string. Voters, people, everyone understands the difference between humility and arrogance. They understand the difference between hard work and cheating. And there is an interesting opportunity here for the Vice President that she has to be careful with, and so im going to tiptoe through it a little bit myself. But the contrast with a former president whose most famous words were, i alone can fix it, you need Donald Trump, hes the only person who can fix it. With a Vice President who is surrounded by, you cant even call it a democratic bench because theyre all leaders in their own right, start with tim walz. Gretchen whitmer, josh shpiro. Roy cooper, go through the list that todays Democratic Party offer the country as a buoy to Vice President harris. In the words of your former boss, its not as though Vice President harris herself is not capable of leading the nation with Strength And Clarity of her own positions. The reality is no One Person is really fully capable of being President Of The United States without the team around them, the national security team, the cabinet, the senior staff team, whomever those people are. And Vice President harris, you see the ethos she models, she is going to be the leader for the country today, and part of her being a leader is bringing in the strongest voices. Voices of diversity, shared experience, and voices for the united states of america against an arrogant fraud, who is a criminal nominee on The Other Side because he cheated. That ethos of a president willing to build a team to lead the Nation Or Someone arrogant enough to tell you hes the only one who knows how to do it, man, thats a powerful narrative. And, ruth, i want to come back to the sort of frame of level setting. Before trump when the only stories about his cabinet were whether the 25th Amendment was or was not actually talked about, which was first reported in a book that was anonymous for years, and then corroborated and then Kevin Mccarthy talks again about the 25th Amendment. That was the only story about trumps cabinet that was deeply reported during his presidency. The autocratic model has the president Making Fools of everyone around him, the only right thing was yes, dear leader, where they had to go around and praise him. This, again, is everything David Jolly said. Its also normal. Its normal to have smart, talented people around you. Trump made that not normal when he made fools out of everyone that worked for him. Yeah, this is the pathology of autocratic rule, and one of the biggest secrets about autocrats that i didnt myself know until i wrote strongmen is how much of a thing this is, is that theyre incompetent because theyre not interested in governing. Theyre interested in making money out of office, privately, theyre interested in dominating people. Theyre sadists and so this leads them to surround themselves with sycophants who are not fair because the Professionalism And Competency that are there because theyre loyal, and they will say things on tv today. We have tv, right . But its always been like this. And so, you know, you can school this out in terms of policies that have been disastrous for nations, and because there is no ethos of collaboration, indeed, authoritarian history is full of stories of People Who became too competent and too popular because of their competency, and had to be exiled by mussolini, by the whole, you know, history of these people. Thats the very big narrative, collaboration, empowerment, professionalism, ethics, these are very good narratives for the Harris Campaign. Let me show you Something Else the campaign is filling out because you mentioned it. This is a Union Worker talking about what life was like under Donald Trump. Let me tell you what its like being a Union Member under Donald Trump. He told us he wouldnt allow factories to shut down, and then guess what happened, factories across michigan closed their doors. Trump said he was going to including more than 30,000 of these manufacturing jobs. And then with the project 2025 agenda, it would give him the power to go after the right to organize, and try to dismantle our unions, and make life even more expensive for us. Again, i have worked on campaigns, eddie, and i worked on good campaigns and not so good campaigns. It is something very impressive to watch the most credible voices deliver these messages that are incredibly strategic. I mean, calling Trump A Liar and pointing to what he would actually do to unions because we have it on paper this time is just another really important Building Block for this campaign, and project 2025 is such a liability, youve got Trump Running as fast as weve ever seen him run away from anything. These attacks on 2025 hurt him. I was thinking about the pace of all of this. We have so much in the nine years we have been together. I mean, so much, and you just think about Life Styles of the rich and famous had a period where everyone was watching. Yeah. And then if you played it just a decade later. Its gross. Its gross, yeah, theres a moment that a helicopter can land in iowa, and people go, aww and now its gross. Things are happening so much faster now, and then the idea that wealth signals competence, when every day ordinary folk are working and busting their behinds to put their children through college, and you have to deal with mean spiritedness that comes with socalled wealth, and i think the tides have turned or shifted or swelled, whatever the metaphor is. Its happened quickly. I love your point about pace. The other difference, for nine years, trump drove the pace, and it was a tactic. Bannon said flood the zone with crap. Shes driving the pace, and hes having to respond. I think shes driving the pace by way of emphasizing topics and emphasizing the future. And so one of the things that i really want to hear more is not just simply the Middle Class. Theyve got a wonderful language of expanding the Middle Class from the bottom up. The Middle Class, thats one way of talking about it. Hard working people. We were Middle Class, i guess. I come from a union household, the national association of letter carriers. Theres a sense in talking about Working Families, talking about the working poor, opens up the door of how we think about this future, and so we dont we can leave behind other baggage as well that we can only talk about the Middle Class. I got you. Youre sticking around. David jolly, ruth, thank you so much for starting off with us today. Coming up for us from Bone Spurs to suckers and losers to mocking photo ops, well look at Donald Trumps, perhaps one of the his greatest disgraces, the continuing desecration of that which is sacred, the u. S. Military. Fred trump will be our guest next. Fred trump will be O Guest next for a total value of Twelve Hundred And Fifty dollars. Only on verizon. Six digestive symptoms. The power of nature. Iberogast. Thing to say this, but it is a genuine disgrace a repulsive maneuver that Donald Trump continues to shamefully employ in every single one of his political campaigns. That is dragging our nations veterans and their families into the muck with him to be used as political props. After days of trying to deflect and redirect outrage associated with his performative trip to arlington national cemetery during which he posed with Gold Star families in an area where photos are traditionally prohibited, the Trump Campaign now insists President Biden and Vice President harris are the ones who ignored invitations to attend. Theres one problem, the White House insists no such invitation exists or was extended. The Vice President this weekend accused Donald Trump of Disrespecting Sacred Ground all for the sake of a political stunt. She goes on, quote, if there is one thing on which we as americans can all agree is that is our veterans, our military families and Service Members should be honored, never disparaged and treated with nothing less than our highest respect and gratitude. But this is mr. Suckers and losers were talking about here. His words, not ours, whose personal history is painted Wall To wall with not just moments but true beliefs that dishonor the military. Consider how Fred Trump, the disgraced expresident s nephew described the way his uncle dodged the draft, i have an idea Fred Trump sr. Said, the move involved a podiatrist who rented space on the Ground Floor of a Fred Trump building. After a call from my grandfather, dr. Larry bronstein wrote a letter saying Donald Trump suffered from Bone Spurs, an ailment so severe that this otherwise healthy 24yearold Man could not possibly serve in the united states military. Bone spurs . No one in the family had ever heard of Donalds Bone spurs. No one had ever seen him hobbling. No one had ever heard him complain. About other things, sure, but not about Bone Spurs. Joining us at the table, nephew of Donald Trump and author of all in the family, the trumps and how we all got here. I was off last week, but this story, of course, guts me. Every time and im mad at myself for still being able to feel pain at things that trump does, that your uncle does. I was pained reading about arlington, and the first thing i emailed and said to my team is i want to talk to Fred Trump when hes back because we, at the very end of our conversation about your book, you brought me into this room that you remember being in. Just tell me the story about his commitment. He worked hard to not serve. Yeah, both he and thank you for having me back, and a pleasure to meet you, professor. This all happened in what my grandparents call the library, which is funny because the only books in there were the yellow pages and white pages. Many of your audience doesnt know what those are, but it was a very serious thing, and yeah, i was young, but i certainly remember the atmosphere around donald had a deferment at fordham, then when my father helped him get into U Penn where my daughter andrea graduated from. Shes out here right now. He had two more. And when he graduated, as i try to eloquently say, is get ready to pack your bags, pal, because youre heading overseas, and thats when the reality really set in. My grandfather, who was a very powerful guy in the democratic machine in brooklyn and queens came up with this, the only word you can use is scheme, and this podiatrist bought into it, and donald went from 1a, which is front of the line, to 1y, i believe it was. Which was youre safe for now. Then of course in The End of 1969, when the Nixon Administration was getting a lot of flak for just having minorities basically serving in the military, you know, the numbers were coming up, and donald was very lucky to have a high number 360 something, in fact, his younger brother, any Brother Robert had his number called before, and they was going to boston university. As i mention in the book, two things really trouble me about it. Several years ago after this episode when it was clear that he was not going to be serving, i it wont a little Prep School in queens, where donald went also. He never made it to graduation. Thats why he got sent to new York Military academy, but i met this young woman who was selling p. O. W. M. I. A. Bumper stickers, and i didnt understand why. The reason why, her father was m. I. A. So even at a young age, i was probably 10 or 11 at the time, like wait a second, her father, she may never see him again, yet my uncle through the moxie of my Grandfather And Donald did not serve. The other thing, who was that person that took his place to serve in vietnam . And what became of that person . Well never know. We wont know his Name Or Anything like that. But what is amazing to me about what you tell is that i remember when the atlantic story broke, and i think they were the first to report that your uncle described the men and women who serve and die as suckers and losers, and then the further reporting about Him Standing at arlington with general john kelly, and not understanding why his son would serve his country. And then the reporting that came out down the road, that general milley at a ceremony had to defend the decision to have someone who was wounded serving the country as part of the ceremony because your uncle said, quote, No One wants to see that, is that its a continuum. It starts he believes theyre suckers and losers when hes 24 and that what he said 50 years later wasnt an anomaly, it was a scoop journalistically, but its who he always was. How else did that reveal itself to you . First, let me just say, my father, donalds older brother was in Lehigh University and voluntarily went into the air national guard. The only one in the Trump Family to ever serve. In fact, i had the honor of using his trunk, his Army Trunk throughout my Summer Camp days. Everything about him, and you could we spoke the last time we were here about how i had the honor of meeting senator mccain, no word that has been cheapened over the years, i said to my kids, andrea, christopher, and my wife lisa, this is a genuine hero. Lets make no mistake about it. The fact that donald called him, in essence, a loser, i dont get it, but anyone who is disabled or anyone who he deems lesser than him is a loser, which, okay, thats just the way he is. That aint going to change. Why do you think people in the military support him . I have no idea. And i know many People Who are in the military, and i had the pleasure of speaking on an interview with national defense radio, which goes out to the armed services, and i told the truth. I basically told this story, and i said that he just doesnt give a shit about them. He just doesnt. Its the great God Father ii, one of the last scenes when sonny says, country aint your blood, kid. And Michael Coralino says, no, i dont believe that. Donald believes in donald. I want to bring eddie in on all of this, too. Dont go anywhere. Well all be right back. And just lived with the damage that was left behind. But even after all this time your Thyroid Eye Disease could still change. Restoration is still possible. Refusing to salute the fallen of World War i because he doesnt understand what was in it for him. Because he was afraid his Dye Job would run in The World comparing his sexploitations to the likes of jeffrey epstein, and turning a military visit to a political stunt with cameras in tow. I wasnt here last week when that happened, but i think its a remarkable story, and i think theres still so much we dont know. One of the most disturbing things about that story is that the people involved didnt want to attach their names to what had transpired because they were afraid of trump. You invoked the godfather, this is another disturbing sign of acting like mobsters, when the person working on the side of angels, is uninterested in being part of holding this person accountable . Didnt want to press charges because they probably didnt want to invite harm to themselves or threats to themselves or the people they love. It makes sense. And we have tolerated this over all the years he has entered into the political scene. One thing that has become clear and this story makes clearer is he has no idea what sacrifice is, no idea what service is. And it seems to me if the presidency requires a certain kind of character, a certain kind of sense of virtue, that allows you to at least be open to stepping into statesmanship, we know that Donald Trump doesnt have that. But this, as youve said, this is about us. Always. This is how do we tolerate someone who and ive always felt that the men and women who decide to serve are better than me. I could speak all afternoon about the person that i am standing on this stage with. Folks, i have an incredible partner. Progress weve made. Shes going to make one hell of a president. Hi, again, everyone. Its 4 00 in New York. You dont see that all the time in politics. Affection that genuine. President biden and Vice President harris are today doing it again, hitting the Campaign Trail together. In just a little bit, we expect to hear from them later in the hour as they mark Labor Day in pittsburgh. Both of them will be speaking at an event at a town hall. Well see them alongside Senator Bob Casey and governor shapiro. Well bring you those remarks. The New York times writes this, quote the New York times writes this, quote the location of Todays Event for President Biden holds significance as Mike Memoli reports, Labor Day in pittsburgh has been one of the hallmarks of President Bidens recent political life. In 2018, he used the citys Labor Day parade as a kickoff for his Midterm Campaign Blitz for Down Ballot democratic candidates which was a soft launch of his eventual 2020 campaign. Today is the first stop of three followed later by michigan and wisconsin. Vice president harris was in michigan earlier today speaking at another union focused event in detroit. The Labor Movement has always understood the power of the collective. And the power of unity. The power of unity. And while we are fighting so much, nonsense that is about trying to divide our country, trying to pull us apart, look to what the history and the president of labor tells us about the power of the collective and unity. The spirit of that work. As much as the product of that work. Its very telling and gives us really good lessons about what creates strength. Lets listen to governor walz. It doesnt help with our ability to collectively bargain and to fight with the dignity of work we know every person in america deserves. So look. Were running for something. Were running to run forward to the future and i dont think its always great to run against something but i think its important to be informed. If you think those guys were bad the last time he was in the White House, just wait if he gets another shot at it. And again, they have told us exactly what theyre going to do. The goals in project 2025 are clear. It should be subtitled how to screw the working people. Thats how it should be listed. When you make it harder to unionize, you make it harder on all workers. Project 2025 is even going after the 40hour Workweek. Lets be very clear. Its the folks standing here and those whose shoulders we stand on gave us the 40hour Workweek and the weekend. So thank you, labor. Whats next, Child Labor . You see states doing that. Putting our children at risk. Theyll go after things like social Security And Medicare. I keep saying this. Repeal the affordable care act. Go back to no preexisting conditions protections. Even if youre not on the aca, you know somebody who relies on it. They dont think a damn about Social Security because if youve got A Billion dollars, you dont care if the check shows up but ill tell you who does. My mom. She pays the heat, buys the food with it and she worked for it and earned it. Thats how it worked. Look, i know this is preaching to the Choir but we got about 64 days to sing, Choir. 64 days to get to our relatives, to talk to them, to tell them whats out here. Look, this guy has made it clear how he stands. Hes sitting down at maralago after he got elected president and this was his exact quote. Hes talking to a bunch of folks at maralago. Youre rich as hell and were going to give you a tax cut. At the same time, he was telling workers they get paid too much already. Thats who this guy is. You tell me who in wisconsin is sitting around saying damn, i wish they would give me tax cuts and screw me over, underfund my public school, make my job more dangerous and make me work until im 75 years old. No ones saying that. What theyre asking for is to be treated fairly with dignity. When republicans talked about things like freedom, they meant it but thats not these guys. Trump and vance, when they talk about freedom means government should have to be the freedom to invade every corner of your life. They talk about small government. Small enough to be in your bedroom, exam room, in your library, telling you the things you should make decisions about. Lets be very clear. Where i come from and where you come from as neighbors, we respect differences. Thats your opinion. Look, were sitting here together. Brewers and twins fans, vikings and patriots. We respect it but on things like healthcare and what books i read and democracy, we all live by that golden rule. Mind your own damn business. Mind your own business. Look, i agree with this. We have a responsibility to tell people not just what were against but what were for. So let me just take a second here to tell you exactly what Vice President harris and i will do. As president , Vice President harris will sign the proact. Make it easier to form unions, period. And you know what comes out of that . You can collectively bargain. Do the work to get fair wages, safer working conditions, good healthcare and a good pension. I saw last week the Wall Street Journal was saying to say they did a story that apparently, im the poorest person to ever run for Vice President. So then, but then they did another story that said oh, hes actually richer than his statement says because he has and i quote, like this is an evil thing, a defined benefit pension plan. That is my wish for every american to have a defined benefit pension plan. So, look. Well lower taxes on Working Families and we can make corporations pay their fair share. Look, theyre doing really well. They can pay their fair share because guess what. We have a saying in minnesota. When everybody does better, everybody does better. Its not that difficult. Its not that difficult. You can be sure well keep fighting for social Security And Medicare and were not going to fight taxes on the wealthy and raise taxes on medicare and Social Security. That will not happen. So look, we got it in minnesota. And we want it for everybody. Were going to fight for paid family and medical leave for everybody in this country. Shouldnt be asking so much spend a little time with your child after theyre born or if youve got Chemo Therapy treatments to not lose their house. We want to make sure you dont just get by, but that you can get ahead and thrive. And be clear. Weve been listening to governor tim walz. He is at a rally in milwaukee. Joining our coverage, host of bull work podcast, Tim Miller is here. Also joining us, Washington Bureau chief, april ryan. Author of the book, black women will save The World. Amen. And with us from the Harris Rally coming up in just a few moments in pittsburgh, my friend and colleague, Mike Memoli. We came On The Air with coverage of Kamala Harris event with governor whitmer, Randy Weingarten in detroit. She is on her way. Shes probably in the building in which you are standing. Governor walz in milwaukee. Just the, this is what campaigns look like on Labor Day. It has to be stated that trumps hunkering down in maralago while his vp is getting booed at events that i saw while i was off last week. That in and of itself is an unbelievable contrast in the state of these two campaigns. Yeah, it really is striking because one of the things that made democrats nervous is that while we have seen Union Leaders make a clear show of force in the democratic ticket, it was the biden campaign, now the Harris Campaign. Throughout this campaign, you had this question of did the Rank And FileUnion Members align with their leadership and the Trump Campaign has been somewhat strategic throughout the last year in trying to make a play for some of those Union Voters. The teamsters in particular. The former president said yeah, the leadership may be for biden but im going for the Rank And File. So to see Donald Trump or frankly to not see Donald Trump on the Campaign Trail seems like a real unforced error. Something you know, if you want to stand with labor, you show up on Labor Day. You contrast that with what were seeing from the Harris Campaign, which is a very intentional rollout for the first time together in this new formulation with harris at the top of the Ticket And Biden no longer on it. Is the president and the Vice President as a Ticket Showing Up for a Campaign Event here. My history with President Biden in this city on this day in particular goes back a long way. 2008. I was with then Senator Biden when he made his first solo Campaign Appearance as barack obamas new Running Mate and it was here in pittsburgh. He came back in 2009. He came back in 2015 when he was thinking of running for president in 16. Chants of run, joe, run. He came back in 16 and when biden was planning to run in 2020, he sort of soft launched it by marching literally in the pittsburgh Labor Day parade. So this is another passing of the Torch Moment from him to harris and well see what democrats feel he does so well. And one of the reasons he has such a great support. Acting as a validater for somebody else. Saying harris gets you in a way you have been with me and i have gotten you after all these years. An important opportunity to see this ticket together. And mike, no mistake that this is their first joint Campaign Appearance. I assume. Thats absolutely right. I was talking with a senior Harris Campaign adviser and laying out what i just did to you, that long History Biden has with pittsburgh. Its almost as if we planned it this way. It was almost like youre stating this obvious, this is why youre doing this. It was a preview of what youre going to see from the president. We havent seen him on the trail since he said he wasnt running. Gave that quote emotional address at the convention and he has been spending quite a bit of time with his family, on vacation for the last few weeks. Part of that with the presidency is a Working Vacation to plot out what do you want to do with the rest of the Campaign And Rest of your time in office. Weve seen what this is going to look like now for President Biden moving forward. Here today in pennsylvania. Later this week, talking about the economy and his economic accomplishments in wisconsin and michigan. Those three states have always been and will continue to be the most critical for assembling the path to 270 for Vice President harris. Yes, there are states like north carolina. Especially georgia where they push the envelope and expand that traditional political map. Those are the core states, states where President Biden has pocketed of support for senior voters and Union Voters. This is somewhat of a kickoff for the effort that the White House says will be a determined and busy one through these last nine weeks of the campaign. Tim miller, you are like human truth serum. Tell me how you see the state of the race today. I think that the Harris Walz Campaign has a small lead but and then its a complete inverse of where we were at the fourth of july. So if were using our summer holidays, its been a dramatic turn from that barbecue to this one today on Labor Day but its not an insurmountable lead. I think theyve got to do better with some of these voters that are here at these events today. The traditional obamatrump voter, the stereo typical one is Working Class white voters. A lot of the Union Leaders have stuck by the democrats while some of the Rank And File, not all, but some have defected. And so thats why they are out there today campaigning aggressively. Very amusing not to see, the whole point of the Jd Vance pick that they were supposed to be going for those groups. It is amusing to see the contrast of Donald Trump just i dont know, who knows, watching News Max or whatever hes doing today. The tim walz thing, i should be truthful about myself. I was slightly skeptical of the value of walz as the vp. Compared to some of the other people she was looking at. And just watching that speech in the lead in, i mean, today is why the tim Walz Pick is valuable. That speech that we saw five minutes ago just shows, its ongoing now, what his value is to this ticket and Kamala Harris coming from the bay area, you know, that sort of cultural soup she has swam in her whole political career is different than the cultural soup that Working Class white voters, wisconsins a very white state. So is pennsylvania. A lot of them labor folks. It is a little different. Than kind of what theyre experience is. I think just tim walz can speak to that so authentically, passionately. He had me chuckling about the line about hes the poorest person ever to run for vp. And its genuine in the way that hes reaching out to Working Class voters. Again, youre not going to win back all of the Obama Trump voters, again, if they can just get those margins up in rural pennsylvania, in green bay. In some of these smaller cities. If they can get the margins where trumps are smaller because theyre doing better with Working Class folks because of working issues and also because of abortion, thats going to be the ticket to victory. I wasnt skeptical. I didnt know much about walz. I trust harris to pick who she thinks she needs. This is what walz said. Their plan amounts to quote how to screw the working people. I mean, he just bottom lines things in a way you didnt have to watch the whole rally. Youll see that clip, i am sure, on tiktok and Social Media no matter who you are or what your algorithm feeds you. You know, he is a plain spoken man. Hes not into those thus thou art where fore are. Tells you how it is. Like my friend joe used to say, he said put it where the goats can get it and they sure got it. Tim walz is a breath of fresh air. Listening to those who were on the Selection Committee for the Running Mate for harris, they said look, the person has to be someone that people can gravitate to. People from all walks of life. And that is the piece about walz that we gravitate to. He talked about his mother. How shes on federal assistance and uses that to pay her bills. He resonated with other people. With not only the elderly, but People Who are the underserved if you will, or People Who are looking to the future. What am i going to have to deal with when im Retirement Age Et cetera. Going back to the piece we put it to Donald Trump talking about how he really doesnt care about the average worker. Lets think about when had many of these lawsuits and kept litigation going on a lot of these contractors who went out of business. Because he didnt pay them. This is fact. That i think that tim walz should expound upon when he gives those issues, especially on this day. Labor day. When we celebrate the nations workforce. Tim, there is something fraying. I wont say going away completely, but there is something fraying. In 2015 and 16, when you were on the Jeb Bush campaign, trumps celebrity and were an asset. They now feel like liabilities. They feel icky. What do you make of Harris And Walz, he doesnt get you . Yeah, i definitely in 2016 primary, right, that he kind of had the line about unapologetically rich. Pretending to be honest about his wealth, really lying about it. That did help him in the 2016. I think its interesting in the playbook. In some ways, Democrats Swhou got away, thinking about mitt romney. There was a concerted effort by the Obama Campaign then to say they care about the Working Class. Theyre arguing that is going to be their focus. He cares about rich people like himself. I think more of a fair critique about Donald Trump than mitt romney. But just speaking politically, that worked, right . Thats Bread And Butter democratic campaign politics. And because Donald Trumps so weird and cruel and horrible, you know, theyre like so many things you can criticize him for that in a lot of ways i think some of the other campaigns had gotten away from that. Particularly in 2016 in the general election and i think that ive been intrigued to see in particular since the switch to Harris Walz, theyve been going right back at that kind of economic core economic message and yes, attacking trump for being a criminal. Yes attacking him for being cruel but like really focusing in on the Policy Problems and how he cares about people like him. And tim walz mentioned that one video of him at maralago talking to his rich buddies. Very damning video but its like more of this traditional kind of democratic Campaign Attack against a very untraditional candidate and i think it works, actually. April, you also have really concerted, strategic, clear articulations of project 2025. I think henson may have started it, pushing it into the general discussion, but even the Union Worker who introduced Vice President harris in detroit this morning mentioned it twice that its in the plan. Tim walz mentioned it twice. Its in there. Child labor is in there. You may as well call it how to screw working people. They are holding trumps feet to the flame of what he plans to do in a way that wasnt really available to anyone before this blueprint was out there. Now everybody knows what project 2025 is and Harris And Walz and others are putting meat on the bones. Thats one of the reasons why Donald Trump is so desperate now because what was secret is now made public. And hes distanced himself. He still has not embraced it as of yet, but trust and believe this is what theyre trying to do. Weve already seen some of this in the last presidency of Donald Trump. Before he left, he cut a lot of jobs and did not, im talking about the government jobs in the administration. Cut a lot of jobs. I remember then Hud Secretary and over at hhs, they were looking to fill thousands of jobs because Donald Trump cut those jobs with a Loyalty Test F , if you will. Hes done it before and this is part of the plan to do it again. Weve seen it before. Even though there are whispers that he is not even embracing, this is part of their plan if they are elected as next administration. The 47th President Of The United States. Sure is. Tim miller, i meant it as a compliment to call you human truth serum. I love it. I love it, too. You just say it. Thank you for starting us off. Mike and april, stick around. When we come back, a global outpouring of grief over the murders of six israeli hostages including one Israeli American held by hamas. That Grief Turning to anger and spilling into the streets of tel aviv. What the biden administration is doing right now to bring an end to the war and bring the remaining hostages home safely. Plus, the disgraced expresident is struggling mightily around an issue of his own Making And One that has driven voters to the polls in state after state to vote for him and republicans. Thats access to abortion. How Donald Trump just cant seem to find the right answer politically now on the issue of reproductive rights. And we are expecting to see President Biden and Vice President harris together again on that stage in pittsburgh this hour. We will of course bring that to you live as soon as it begins. Deadline White House continues after a quick break. Dont go anywhere. Continues after a quick break. Dont go anywhere. woman cmon cmon man yes Vo Youve got your Sunday Obsession and we got you. Are you planning to present a final Hostage Deal for both sides this week . Were very close to that. What makes you think this deal will be successful in a way the others were not . Hope springs eternal. Do you think its time for prime Minister Netanyahu to do more on this issue . Do you think hes doing enough . No. That was president Joe Biden earlier today on efforts to secure a Hostage Deal between israel and hamas. The comments came ahead of a meeting with the u. S. Hostage Deal Negotiation Team following the murder of Israeli AmericanHostage Hersh Goldbergpolin and four others over the weekend. Its led to protests in israel where crowds have taken to the streets to demand a cease file deal. They say the bodies of the hostages were found in a tunnel under the city Of Rafah and they were shot shortly before the soldiers reached them. Thousands of mourners gathered today in jerusalem for the funeral of hersh, including his parents, who have campaigned tirelessly for the release of their son. For 330 days, mama and i sought the proverbial stone that we could turn over to save you. Maybe, just maybe, your death is the stone, the fuel that will bring home the remaining 101 hostages. I am honest and i say its not that hersh was perfect. But he was the perfect son for me. And i am so grateful to god for 23 years i was privileged to have the most stunning honor to be hershs mama. Its hard to watch. Joining our conversation, former deputy national Security Adviser under president obama, Ben Rhodes is here. Mike memoli is also here. Ben, these parents shared their grief. They spoke at the democratic convention. They worked with politicians on both sides of the aisle in this country and around The World and days ago, yesterday, they got the worst news possible about their son. Yeah, its unimaginable the loss they feel. And its a reminder of the humanity at the center of this conflict. Its been grinding on since october 7th, almost a year now. What strikes when you hear the voices of those parents is that theyre individual human beings, individual stories that are at the center of all this. And individual people that are suffering. As this does grind on. I think the other thing thats been noteworthy, of course, is the activism of these families. Theyve been very prominent in israeli politics and in israeli media trying to keep the attention on the plight of the hostages and theyve been very outspoken in their belief that prime Minister Netanyahu needs to adjust his position in order to get that kind of deal that can bring back dozens of hostages hopefully. So you heard in their grief that theyre not giving up on that. Its so striking to hear the father continue to raise the cause of the remaining hostages. Just shows you how profoundly connected these families have become through this period of activism on behalf of their loved ones. Mike, this was Kamala Harris statement yesterday, quote, hamas is an evil terrorist organization. With these murders, hamas has even more american blood on its hands. I strongly condemn hamas continued brutality and so must the entire world. It was her nominating convention that we met this family, a lot of us knew them, their story, knew of their son, hersh, and their efforts to free him. She has been so lock step with President Biden and i wonder how sort of the vision of labor and how much his ability to sort of focus and to see this the same way she does frees her up or how that Dynamic And Partnership works. Well, weve seen politically the ways in which this issue of President Biden and his steadfast support for israel was such a drag on him politically for a long period of time. Especially in a state like michigan where every vote is critical. But he has taken every effort he can to put the work in to get this done and with all the focus of the last few months politically, the political Turbulence Weve been through from President Bidens debate to the drama about whether he would stay on the ticket to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and ultimately the change in the democratic ticket. What has gotten lost is the intense amount of diplomacy, of hard work this administration has been putting in. Not just at the level of President Biden and Vice President harris whos been involved in making calls, but we see it in brent mcgirk, Jake Sullivan and John Finer in the national security council. There has been so much work that has been done to try to bring a deal to the table. You can always sense the impatience on the part of biden administration officials with prime Minister Netanyahu. But theyve also been careful to say this is not entirely on him. That hamas is no easy partner to work with here. There is a sense that now with the Campaign Burden lifted of him, that President Biden has more time to invest in this, but its really when you talk to officials about the time allocation prior and now since his decision to withdraw from the race, they dont actually think theres that much more time he can give to this because it has been such a central focus of him, but i also think it is worth highlighting as you have just done, the ways in which Vice President harris has continued to put the pressure on hamas in this situation. I think one of the most fascinating parts of her Convention Speech was the time she spent on Foreign Policy. Typically not an issue you hear about in a Convention Speech, and so much of her strong rhetoric directed at hamas, but also in terms of broader threats of the region, iran. This is somebody who has watched President Biden up closely and has learned from him to supplement her own experience in this field as a member of the Intelligence Committee and i think youre going to continue to see both of them put a lot of time on this in the remaining time they have left in office. You know, ben, she used the word, lethal. She talked about the role of the commander in chief overseeing The Worlds most lethal military. I actually thought that night, the fourth night of the democratic convention, it featured speeches from Adam Kin and others. To pass the commander in chief bar. And mikes right. Voters usually have domestic Issues Front and center, but she has sort of sat in the Situation Room, Fox News seemed so flumics by it. Jeanine piro, whatever her name is, is sort of scolding him in whatever weird dynamic that is. But i wonder where you put Foreign Policy and the brutal war in ukraine and the brutal and savage murder of six hostages by hamas and her strength that shes articulated as a candidate in her Convention Speech and in yesterday. How important do you think that is for her candidacy . I think its really important both because of the issues themselves but also because of the broader contrast that it makes between her and trump. You know, you mentioned that last night at the convention. They did something theyve been doing on other issues which they draw the comparison in part by just putting forward her own experience and vision. Shes someone whos been in the Situation Room doing the work. Someone who is values based instead of someone who cozies up to dictators. She values the u. S. Military and having a mission Above And Beyond politics. Obviously a Contrast Trump himself makes when he gets into fights and has Campaign Rallies at arlington cemetery, right. So theyve been drawing a contrast that is about the kind of Leadership Shed bring to issues and on ukraine, theres a clear contrast obviously with Donald Trumps willingness to quote do whatever the hell it wants to nato member states. Its also about the kind of leader she is versus the kind he is. She threaded the needle carefully on gaza in expressing support for israels right to defend itself against hamas but also expressing a sense of solidarity with palestinians and the Suffering Theyve been through. So shes trying to hold together the democratic coalition on this specific issue. But i think more broadly, shes just trying to model a form of behavior, a temperament and a set of values that is implicit and explicit contrast to Donald Trump. So amazing how simple the contrast can be made. How simply the point can be made. Youre right. Thank you both for spending time with us on this. When we come back, Donald Trumps increasingly awkward and painful contortions on an issue he made much worse for all women in america. All families in america. Access to abortion healthcare. At the same time, the democrats are radical because the nine months is a ridiculous situation so ill be voting no for that reason. How many times can a Flip Flop Flip or however that goes. I dont know if thats a Flip Flop anymore. Maybe like a pretzel, soft one, swishy one. Whatever you want to call it. Thats Donald Trump. In year nine as the leader of what was once the republican party. Now more like a maga movement. Still out loud and before the cameras trying to figure out just what his position really is on the issue of abortion but it is a fact that he appointed the justices who overturned roe versus wade. With that last answer from trump, hes going to vote no on Floridas Amendment four. Hes confirmed from a draconian Sixweek Abortion Ban is good enough for him to support. Joining our coverage, mini. Some of what has benefitted trump is the fog machine, the blur. I think its important that he not be allowed to say whatever. The truth is hes the reason american women are now dying of sepsis in public bathrooms, the reason women are infertile. The reason men and women who are physicians have back up plans in case theyre arrested for providing healthcare for women. Hes the reason why republicans are struggling in so many elections. What do you want to see happen with this latest Rhetorical Mishmash from him . You know, i think what weve seen over the last few years has been an effort on our side to really define Donald Trump on this issue. Since he picked Jd Vance, the definition has just gotten clearer. Youve gotten two incredibly misogynistic anti woman candidates on the ticket. One of the refreshing things about the coverage of the last 72 hours has been our clear eyed our friends in the press, activist candidates, have been about making it very explicit that the message stays the same. Donald trump will say and do anything to distract from his record on reproductive freedom. What you can trust are the facts as you just laid out. You appointed the justiced. He is responsible for this crisis and not only that, hes bragged about it and wants to punish women and doctors. That seems to be coming up clearly with voters. Theres a new Piece Poll about how women under 45 are picking abortion now as their top issue even over the economy. And that theres a 20point Margin of favorability for harris over trump on abortion. April, i feel like some of what the media got wrong with trump was looking at trump as a politics in a time capsule. I had Fred Trump on Today And Trump describing the men and women who died in service of the nation as service and losers wasnt a blip. It was part of a long line that started with a podiatrist writing him a Bs Note saying he had Bone Spurs so he didnt have to serve this country. His views on overturning Roe Arent a blip either. Theyre part of Grab Women in the P Word because when youre famous, they quote let you do it. Its a feature of who Donald Trump is. So, yeah. Donald trump right now is in the Kitchen Cooking spaghetti, taking the noodles out and throwing them up against the Wall To see which one sticks and thats the problem. He is desperate right now and this abortion battle, he is losing. He was losing when roe v. Wade was overturned and he said he did that. He was losing at that time and he continues to lose even more so. And if we look at the polling and also the numbers of women who are historically registering to vote in this election process, looking at the numbers of women who are running, particularly black woman, who are running to Kamala Harris. Abortion is that issue that the democrats have. Thats that Number One issue they can rely on that Donald Trump is failing on. So the american public, and we have gone through this for the last two years or so. The american public has said they should not be tampering with the historic abortion issue. Now states are dealing with it. And its creating havoc all over the place and as you said, there are women going through Sepsis Being traumatized physically because doctors cannot operate on them as theyre miscarrying because of laws and theyre scared to go to court. But Donald Trump is at the center of this in all the things that he has said about Abortion Rights and how a woman should carry their child or not carry their child. One of the conversations you and i have been having for years now is about bringing everyone in. You see this reflected in how Vice President harris talks about this issue. Both as President Bidens Point Person and now as the nominee of our party. That if you think abortion doesnt affect you because youre a man or youre not interested in having kids, youre wrong because hes this World View, this Trump Vance Project 2025 World View will come for everyone eventually. Maybe it isnt abortion. Theyre coming for ivf. Maybe its birth control. Maybe it isnt either of those, but its a way of making clear that it isnt just about a single procedure. Its about a second class of humans that includes all women and i wonder what you think about sort of taking this message and broadening it . Yeah. I think its a really smart point. Look, we now know that we cant win these elections without independents and republicans crossing over and weve seen in every state where weve had abortion related Ballot Referendum that we have that happening. Number one, i think voters, not just women, but also men, are seeing the consequences of these bans not just on contraception and ivf, but in states like georgia, youre seeing entire swaths of the state where there are no obgyns to serve the general population. Youre seeing healthcare deserts. Youre seeing doctors leaving states. Youre seeing students choose states not to go to college because of Abortion Bans and i also think its interesting now is that Donald Trump cant be trusted and that he is beholden to his base. Hes made a deal with these evangelicals. He cannot wriggle out of it so when he tries to wriggle out of project 2025, we can point to this last 42 hours, 72 hours of interaction. You know, he came out and tried to fudge on florida. They came right after him and he flipflopped right back. So they got him in their grasp. No matter what you think of Donald Trump, hes beholden to the extreme elements of his party. Youre so right. They own him on this issue. But also just how him. I want us to stick around. Live picture of president Joe Biden and Vice PresidentKamala Harris. Theyre outside this Union Hall where theyre going to make their first joint Campaign Appearance. And this is a relationship that really i think sort of came into full view around these very painful weeks of president Joe Bidens deliberations about what to do. And that really moving first Campaign Stop she made to the Wilmington Headquarters where they basically said, you know, they loved Each Other and their families loved Each Other. This is their first joint Campaign Appearance. What do you make of how this dynamic will play out on the Campaign Trail over the next 60 days . Well, hes respecting her as Vice President. And as you said, over the last month or so when he made that painful decision and she was in on that decision aas he was making it they became closer. And only these two could understand this moment in time. And for this president , Joe Biden, to be in his home state, a kid from scranton, pennsylvania, and see this crowd, its a majority white crowd. He is sending a message to them, i am anointing her to be the next President Of The United States. Embrace her like i do. And those optics make a difference. It is beyond the words from the oval office. Beyond the words at the dnc. He is there with her arm in arm. Look at them smiling and touching. This is an important moment for her. And its not just for pennsylvania. Its not just for all of those Battleground States. But this is an optic that everyone will see, and it makes a difference to see this, that he stands with Kamala Harris. Hes walking the walk as well as talking the talk. And this is a twoway relationship, mini. I mean, you and i had a lot of these painful conversations too in this month. She stood by him. She never privately or publicly questioned his ability to run and prevail in november. And you know, this dynamic in Politics Cant be manufactured. This is a true partnership and a true friendship. And they both seem to sort of be reaping the benefits of what is a very genuine friendship between the two families. And you know, her standing with him sorry, april. Let me bring mini in for her reaction. Sorry. Sorry, april. I was just going to say look, she stood with him to the very end. It was so critical. You know, he talks about her relationship with beau. So many of us know President Biden as this transformational intergenerational leader, right . He came on board to support barack obama, really helping in the way that april said, you know, create credibility and like tell middleclass, workingclass white americans i know this guy, i trust this guy. Same thing with Kamala Harris. And i just want to note, the most prolabor President Weve seen in a very long time. So labor loves Joe Biden. Kamala Harris Today is really important.
