Some rockets were fired towards israel. From gaza overnight. I am joined here in jerusalem. Correspondent alasdair bunkall. Bring us up to date with developments overnight. Extraordinary hamas gunman still inside southern israel. Yes, not just that. Yes, they are in southern israel as youve said in a introduction where the fighting is going on. One of the reasons, the fact is really so not yet got control of it is because a lot of this is going on in some areas, villages and towns. Using Special Forces to go carefully. Although robustly. In order to try to clear them. Without further loss of civilian life. The sights and sounds we are hearing of the airstrikes. More than 1100 airstrikes now on gaza. Targeting hamas infrastructure, hamas leadership, come on posts. But as we have heard and seen, from our teams in gaza, civilians also caught up in. This one other extraordinary element to all of this is that whilst the israelis have managed to resecure most of the, i think it was about 29 infiltration points saturday morning, some are still open and hamas fighters are still getting into israel. , alistair thank you very much indeed. So we are hearing Israeli Forces are fighting hamas gunman. Seven or eight locations there outside of gaza. That is according to the Israeli Military. This morning. Our chief correspondent, Stewart Ramsey reporting from the southern city. A warning his report contains images of the body bags containing victims in the bloodied aftermath of an attack. Murdered in cold blood on a sunny saturday morning. The bodies of some victims of the hamas attack have yet to be removed. The blood splattered cars where they were killed, parked a few feet away. The vehicles, broken by the hail of bullets. This was a coordinated attack on the town of surat. The road leading to it is lined with vehicles, attacked by hamas as they drove towards the city and the surprise attack. Some escaping on foot. But many were killed, were taken hostage and driven into gaza. Survivors hid in their homes, praying that the gunman would not find them. Simply terrifying this. I was shocked, shocked. I heard shooting. I couldnt believe it. Six in the morning, on saturday. On the holiday, it was scary, very scary. The main Police Station is destroyed. Taken over by a gunman who killed 20 officers. The scale of what happened here is unfathomable people of israel. Nobody ever thought that this was remotely possible. In the, and the Defense Forces destroyed the station. In many, is it is a symbol of a Security System that simply failed. Even when we use the idea of one person killed, we take it as a personal loss. And personal responsibility, here, hundreds of people have been killed wielded the most thorough analysis ever done. Learn our lessons, ensure that it never happens again, but its going to be for tomorrow. Today, we have to do everything to protect our civilians. Restore peace to the people of israel and make sure that hamas never has the capabilities again to do this kinds of carnage to the people of israel. The roads heading to south israel are fairly quiet. The country, scared and has been scarred by this attack. Security is not everywhere. The only cars in any significant numbers are headed north. On board, families moving away from the gaza borderline. With anything that they can squeeze. I petrification, we came across swat teams. They are here to retrieve hostages taken by hamas and still inside of israel. Amongst them our negotiators. But this is an ongoing war and you will blur never be far from it. ,. That is the sound of the iron dome, the Israeli Defense system. So just putting on their helmets. You are never quite sure what is happening at any given time. The dome is protecting israel. Still or never. See the jets about this as well. This is very much an active battlefield in many ways. The police and swat teams are here. Because further along the road, where it is believed hostages are still being held. The Defense Forces are still securing the gaza border. But there is already a huge buildup of soldiers and hardware. And israeli incursion is coming, and it will be bloody. The government is in no mood for mercy. And that will inevitably cost the lives of civilians. Stuart ramsey thats kind of southern israel. Let us speak to our international affairs. Down there in southern israel. And dominic, this is extraordinary. The israelis would not have expected this. 48 hours on. And we are told hamas gunmen are still operating or hiding down there. Yes, its astonishing mark as you said. Weve had a brief and they are saying that we thought this morning we would be a better place and they are not. Theyre being pretty frank about that. Saying there is fighting still going on between what they call their warriors on the Hamas Terrorists as they call them. And seven or eight places, around the israeli communities to the east and north of the gaza border. They will not be drawn on exactly what thats going on. Saying that they are operating surgically. Complicated by the fact that theyre operating in civilian areas. And possibly hamas is Holding Hostages as well. Clearly enemies are more capable than have been previously thought. Also staunchly, theyre still not sure whether hamas can get in or out through tunnels or possibly preachers. On the sea. , between ashkelon and then in ashkelon, where we are now they were able to operate. Shooting at israeli soldiers. So the people situation here and saying this is a very different situation to they hadnt. Past and scope and scale is a different conflict and we should expect a long and hard conflict in gaza itself. Saying this is full on war. And i cant respect the norms in the past. They are not necessarily going to one palestinians. They will do as much as the game. But when they strike targets in gaza, they will not be able to do as much as they have in the past they set. To avoid collateral damage. So i think the gloves are off. Its a very different compared to what anything weve seen in the past. Absolutely, dominic thank you very much indeed. On top of this, more than 100 people have been taken hostage by hamas. Thats according to a senior official of the militant group. More remain missing. These are the faces of just some of those. Families have posted their pictures on social media. Desperately seeking information. Sharing fears that they are dead or as is becoming increasingly clear they might have been taken hostage by hamas. Among them, a 25 year old, among hundreds of people dancing the night away and Music Festival just hours before the hamas attack and this is the moment, being kidnapped, manhandled. On a motorbike and driven across the desert. A friend no has confirmed to sky news that it is her. On the spike. Arms outstretched, she is begging her captors not to kill her. Just awful scenes. Later, if video was released, appearing to show her sat on her own. Drinking some water. We do not know exactly where of course. But her father spoke to the media. What can i say . All my life since she was born, ive tried to protect her. And tucker, and supporter, and lover. And here at this difficult moment, at least cheer her up. I could not offer her a hand. T offer her a hand the British National jack marlowe was working at the festival as a security guard. We havent heard from him since about Early Morning yesterday. What i understand is that there were rockets that were fired over that party, and they were in attempts to try and evacuate party goers from the venue. Well be bringing you a special program. Israel hamas war, live from jerusalem. That is at 9 00 this evening, uk time, here on sky news. For now, from jerusalem, lets go back to in westminster for the days other news. K kay . The single biggest obstacle to the economy. Lets find out more. Should we be standing by for us this morning. And there you are mari. What are we going to hear from Rachel Reeves . Thank you, kay. It is her pitch to the country to show that the labour party can be trusted with the uks finances and the government economy, but also, what is really important this is a chance, really, for the labour party in general to try and win over what they call floating voters. Floating voters are those voters who have not quite decided if they can move from one party to the other. The Labour Party Needs to find a way to win voting voters, and persuade them to move to labor or move back to labour in so Rachel Reeves, today is, going to say in the focus on making sure that Critical National infrastructure is accelerated when it comes to those building projects. So, talking about updating all National Policy statements, Prioritizing Growth in the economy, specifically battery factories, laboratories and 5g infrastructure, ensuring local communities get Something Back in incentivizing local communities. For instance, they could get Cheaper Energy bills if they allow Energy Programs to be happening near them, in their communities. They also say they want to clear National Guidance for developers, and that they are going to actually fund 300 more planning officers, raised by a surcharge on as well. So, they are trying to help create a picture of hope and optimism for the future under the labor government. Obviously, as you can see from your reports, across gaza and israel, that might be overshadowed by what is going on internationally. All right, mhari aurora thank you, speaking to the shadow chancellor, thats Rachel Reeves, of course. Thats coming up at about 20 past eight this morning, when Rachel Reeves will be giving her speech at the Labour Party Conference coming up for you live here on sky. Meantime, what is happening in whitehall today just. Lets get more with another strike. Another strike. And that is by cleaner, Security Guards and support staff at three government departments. They are the departments for energy security, the Department For Business And Trade and the department for science, innovation and technology. And this is the second time in two months this group of workers from the union have walked out. Its all about pay, and its with all these other industrial disputes. They say they havent offered a pay rise of 2. 2 by their employer, which is a big Facilities Management form called iss and they nowhere near enough and they are calling on the iss to come back to the Negotiating Tables separately work at the house of commons, they are getting balloted on whether not to strike. And if they do decide to, that could mean restricted access to parliament and long queues for all those who work inside, including, of course, mps. It means these ongoing industrial disputes are getting closer and closer to the heart of government. All right, thank you. Ivor bennett, thank you very much. Indeed, taking shortly back to liverpool and also shortly back to jerusalem for the very latest on the israel hamas war. Before that, though, other stories making headlines for you on the program this morning. Remember, Morning Schools have shut and flights have been grounded in hong kong over remnants of typhoon coin in overnight, and the typhoon has weekend into a severe tropical storm. But many areas were still inundated with water, just a month after the city was hit with record breaking rainfall. Hundreds are still feared to be trapped in rubble as Rescue Workers and survivors degree round the clock to reach them. [speaking in a global language] translator this earthquake was a very terrible event that happened in several villages, and we had many injured and killed. The intensity was also strong. Two or three people were killed from each family. More than 400 criminals, including senior king pins in organized crime, have been sent to prison, following a metropolitan police operation. They have been jailed for a total of 3722 years behind bars. Operation eternal targeted an encrypted messaging platform use the data to identify criminals and tackle the drug trade. And the u. S. The figure is now the worlds fourth largest lottery after running over for 34 consecutive draws. The last time someone one was on the 19th of july. But you have to pay tax on that, though. You do have to pay keep that in mind, i suppose. Got the latest on what is happening with the government this morning. I have got that conference cold. You guys gave it to me, i think. Probably over the local government minister, its good to see you. Thank you. What is the latest as far of as the British Government is concerned as far as israel and hamas. Outrageous what has happened. The support to israel and israel has an absolute right to defend itself and its going to be difficult days ahead in the middle east. But israel will have its defend itself and the uk government will step out there . The Foreign Office, as it always does when there are challenges around the world, it is working very hard to make sure it knows where British Nationals are to pride provide the support necessary and whether its gaza or whatever it is its trying to encourage people not to travel also support where its needed do we know the where the brits are . Many, many people are going in and out of israel every single day. The Foreign Office is trying to focus on where it is necessary, where the support is needed and obviously there is the significant challenge at the moment, with people from israel who maybe and have been taken into gaza, the Foreign Office and the ford secretary is working very hard on showing that we are and should brits travel to israel at the moment . The Foreign Office will make any announcement that is appropriate. At the moment as i understand it, it is still okay to travel to israel. We have advised against traveling to elsewhere, such as gaza and underlying. But it really is foreign secretary hughes who has got a full understanding of the situation. That data tell me what the government is doing to sort out or challenge or get into sharper focus any antisemitic attacks, whatever form they might be, here in the uk. As i said, this is absolutely unacceptable. The government is being very clear about that. We have brought in laws over many years to do that and we have seen some isolated incidents over the past few days. And the Met Police Have said they have stepping up patrols, and are clear rules about what can be done, what protest transgress is into things that are unacceptable. And i know that police around the country do what is necessary, should that be the case. Fluttering from the back of a car. Is that too much . As i understand, there are some things which absolutely cant happen, we cannot for support prescribed organizations in hamas, in the United Kingdom, and if thats the case, we would expect the police to take action accordingly. There is a right to protest. We does that include flags . I have no idea in your opinion i have no idea why people would do that. A clear Terrorist Attack on israeli soil. They are describing it as they are equivalent of 911 and ultimately, there is a right to protest, but there is not a right. There is absolutely not a right to glorify terrorism and make if it occurs. Of course, we have to hold our noses if sometimes people feel it is appropriate to flatter flags and shout abuse from a vehicle. But what about if these are kids who are just being overexuberant, for whatever reason . Should they still be arrested . Theres no over exuberance and glorifying terrorism. People should be very clear with the laws. People should not break the law. And people should also have the decency to recognize that, over 1000 people have died in over the weekend, in a completely unprovoked attack. No, i understand. And i would be very cautious about what but i would put it to you that, while another way of looking at that, potentially, is offering support to those who are in gaza who are being bombarded at the moment. Israel has just seen a large number of people come over a sovereign border, and kill indiscriminately some of their citizens. 240 people, as i understand it, who have died, who are at a festival. And i think it is incumbent upon us all to recognize that israel has a right to defend itself, as a right to resolve the issues which are going on, and what happens on the streets of the uk is that people should be extremely cautious and should know exactly what the law is absolutely, minister. But also civilians have the right to live in peace. And im saying to you, if people in the United Kingdom are flying a flag to offer support for civilians in gaza, is that something that this government would be opposed to . There is absolutely no way that we can ever get to peace in the middle east which we all want to see, and have wanted to see for many decades through the kinds of things which happened over the weekend. And therefore, i think, in terms of choices that people are making in the United Kingdom right now, i would suggest they be extremely cautious about those choices, which so, the demonstration outside the Israeli Embassy later on. Palestinian supporters should not go ahead . As i, said there are laws. People know when they treacherous those laws. They know what they are not able to do. And i expect everybody else to know, i dont necessarily think that that is completely what you were saying. You are saying that they should not be offering support for civilians in gaza. And this demonstration outside the embassy this evening, is exactly what they will want to be doing. As i said, there is a right to protest in the United Kingdom. And we have to accept that right to protest, even when we find it distasteful. But at the same, time there are laws around glorifying terrorism. There are laws around Glorifying Antisemitism and and there is also, about, relevance about what people should do and how they should consider their actions. But ultimately yeah, but i think its a reasonable discussion. Let me just ask you one final question on that, and then we will move on to other topics. And that is, we get to see a number of the labour party on sharing a platform with a palestinian organization. Do you think that that is reasonable at the time . I was surprised to see the chairman of the Conservative Party to highlight that and to as the Labour Party Leadership what they are doing about that. We hope to hear from them soon. Hes not an organization that is illegal in this country and, as a result, or theyre not going to take any action . A member of the Conservative Party, would action have been taken, do you think . Thankfully, she is not a member of the Conservative Party. And ultimately, it is for people to determine how they want to conduct themselves, but for members of parliament, they particular need to send think about message they saturday appropriate thing to do, and we okay. Talk to me if you would, please, about we generation projects which would, undoubtedly, involve building more homes. These homes, are they going to be private homes or Affordable Homes . How are you going to decide . And where are you going to build them . It will be a mixture of all. Its about brewing the brownfield sites which are more challenging, more difficult, have back into you so that they can be across communities, across the uk, and they can be used to build housing. So, we have an Old School Site in hole hull and the different sites across the building on greenbelt . The intention of the announcement today is to bring brownfield on, brownfield first, whether it is previously development, whether we can use that, where can be used to both redevelop and regenerate and bring on new housing that we need. We want to do that first. And our preference is not to use greenbelt. Weve been made clear about the fact the greenbelt should be protected. And throughout the years, our policy has always been to okay. Successful on conference minister, do you think . I think it was clearly setting out the willingness of the Prime Minister to make difficult decisions within a challenging time, both nationally and across the world and what rishi were showing last week was kind of i want in the coming years. Okay. Its good to see you, minister. Thanks so much for joining us on the program this morning. But there will be more rain now tomorrow. Mostly mild now, but its rather murky for the much of the north, and your coast in the west, while Central Britain has some patchy rain. Theres some inland fog in the south as well. South as well. Com before they sell out again lets talk about what is happening with the israel simon male, former deputy chief of defense staff, of course. Hello, its good to see you. Good morning, kay. As the dust settles how on earth could these really Defense Force and Israeli Security not have known this was coming . It was a real shock. Huge amount of investment in intelligence and we know that hamas, gaza are full of israeli informers, and the capacity of hamas to launch a large, widespread Terrorist Assault for comes as a shock to everybody. And of course, the failure has huge consequences, as i said, at every level for the region globally, level a and obviously Israeli Citizens, and now the citizens of gaza strip. So, it is a massive, massive intelligence failure. It will be examined on the scale of pearl harbor, 9 11, and many other intelligence failures. And israeli Prime Ministers do not survive Security Failures like this. No. And benjamin netanyahu, one of his, of course key elements so called appeal to Israeli Citizens to exactly on the security side, that he is a very hard, hardline robust defender of israel. So, again, this is a personal, political failure as well as one of a military and intelligence failure. And inevitably, because of the consequences, there will be very hardline response from the idf and israel, and partly, in combination, for that intelligence failure. You say that, minister simon mayall, but we are hearing that from dominic this morning, who said the that there are still pockets of strong resistance. Indeed. Youve only got to look at almost any conflict. Once you can get committed fighters, terrorists in this case, inside a building where the term fight the last bullet, it is extremely difficult to get people out. Because any fighting in builtup areas is an absolute nightmare for a conventional army. And so, if there are pockets, it will take time. And of course, from an israeli perspective, it is it will be a sort of hallmark of i. D. Half idf failure at the moment it will roll on for a while. Throughout the morning indeed. Thank you. Considered view of the politics here in london, lets take you to jerusalem, where mark is standing by for us for the very latest on the ground. Mark, good morning. Yeah, kay, good morning. Thank you very much indeed. With me now is the deputy mayor of jerusalem. Thank you very much for being with us. And we have just been hearing that hamas gunman are still active in southern israel, 48 hours on. This is extraordinary. It beggars belief. I dont understand i dont think anybody in israel understands. We are all feeling shocked how this could possibly happen, and how, 48 hours after this, still 40 terrorists running around Southern Gaza with the army in hot pursuit. We dont really understand the scope of what has happened, and, we really, that terrible massacre that has occurred in the last 42 hours. Do you consider this is security well, it is a Security Failure by the Israeli Defense forces. We have a border. We left gaza in 2005, with actually a real border. We have the best technology in the world. We have a very strong army. We know how to secure our borders. Nobody understands what happened. And i think that, after this whole nightmare is over, there will definitely be investigation to understand what exactly happened. You are the mayor of the city. How worried are you about violence spreading here. So, we are a little worried because the last thing we need is more fronts to deal with. There was threatening noises coming from the north as you know. And here we know there are some small hamas super cells waiting to attack. We have had a couple scuffles scuffles over the past few days, but by, large the Police Presence that we have kept things calm. What do you mean a couple of scuffles . Have there been contacts between the Security Forces and hamas Gunman In Jerusalem . We dont know if they are hamas, another islamist group, but there have been some hooligans trying to take advantage of the situation, and weve probably calm the situation down. There are those who say that while hamas is in control in gaza, and while you have this rightwing government in power here, that there is no chance of anything other than violence. What was the excuse all these years . What was the excuse under leftwing governments . This kind of rightwing government excuses is the state of israel. Hamass charter has is antisemitic but its been the most violent for two decades. I think there is a Bigger Picture that we need to kind of zoom out and look at what is going on in iran, and look at what is going on with israel normalizing, with saudi arabia. Why is it happening now . Is it a coincidence that we have got this kind of roadmap to normalization in saudi arabia. One country that doesnt want that . Iran. And so i dont think that any of this is a coincidence. I think there are some big Puppet Masters involved. And i dont think we should minimize the big original picture. No, absolutely. That is true. But there are those who are clear. And they are saying that palestinian grievances are fueling all this, and that this government has done very little to address the grievances legitimate grievances, many would say of the palestinians. Absolutely. And the last three months, this government has given unprecedented work permits to gaza residents to come into israel, to work. Why did they need to come into israel to work . These really economy. Why is their blockade . They also have a border with egypt. Why doesnt anyone talk about that . The egyptians lap them more than israel does. Is your brings in humanitarian aid. Israel brings in children for medical care. Israel brings in work permits for palestinians to come in and work in israel. We do way more than the egyptians and nobody talks about thank you, deputy mayor. We are going to hear from the palestinian delegate to the u. N. But thank you very, much indeed. After a closeddoor emergency meeting, the u. N. Security council opted for no immediate action over the growing conflict over the strongly condemn what it described as the heinous Terrorist Attacks committed by hamas. Meanwhile, the palestinian ambassador, as i was saying to the u. N. , has called for International Protection killed palestinian civilians. We are not sub humans that let me repeat, we are not sub humans. We will never accept the rhetoric that denigrates our humanity and our rights. Rhetoric that ignores the occupation of our land and oppression of our people. Pression of our people joining us for more on all this is our international correspondent, alex rossi, who is in the lebanese capital, beirut. Alex, we have just been talking to the deputy mayor of jerusalem, who is very keen to talk about the regional dimensions to all this. And all eyes will be on lebanon and what hezbollah choose to do next. Yeah. Since the summer war, mark, of 2006, this border with israel has been relatively quiet. I think it could be if you want to look at the framework of it, it is Something Like a mutual deterrence. Both sides know that they can cause enormous damage, as they did in 2006, to each other. Now, they have been skirmishes on the border. But they have been within the parameters of what you can call the wars of engagement. Each side knows what kind of provocations they can get away with. Now, yesterday, we saw one of those, hezbollah, fired an israeli radars easton station, with what it says are guided missiles and artillery. It appeared to have hit that station. And you have a tally eight id by described as the Terrorist Infrastructure of hezbollah. But if you look at that as an example, it wasnt a contested area, although, to pick something, it wasnt fired into israel, that cities, for instance, which would have been a dramatic escalation, bringing things out of the rules of engagement. So, perhaps the way to interpret it is as a warning shot from hezbollah, a sign of symbolic resistance and a sign of solidarity with hamas. But heres what it is saying, that its rockets and its missiles are with hamas. It has warned if there is a serious ground encouraging and its hard to think that there would be one it will get involved in this conflict. So, the dynamic for a regional war is very, very real indeed and, also very worrying. Yeah, okay, alex. Thank you very much indeed. And with all that in mind, the u. S. Is sending a Carrier Strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean as part of its pledge to support israel. Our u. S. Correspondent mark stone has the latest details are not from washington. Yes, as significant announcement at the white house. A u. S. Aircraft carrier, with a strike group of five more ships is now on its way through the mediterranean, to sit in the waters off israel. And President Biden has also approved the deployment of fighter jets to supplement its existing capability in the region. And the Defense Secretary has said these steps are to strengthen Americas Posture in the region to bolster regional deterrence efforts. It is clearly a show of force. But it reflects to just how serious the weekend developments are and how quickly this could all spiral regionally. And honestly, the mood among diplomats i have spoken to this weekend across the region is grim. The shock, for israel, is so massive that its government will feel compelled to mount a massive retaliation. It is a dangerous moment on so many fronts. Gaza, of course. But lebanon, hezbollah, syria and iran proxies there. And then, of course, iran itself. Israel ultimately blames iran, its regional influence and its desire to seek the destruction of israel for the weekend of bloodshed. The u. S. Naval task force is unlikely to operate offensively and must directly threatened. But it is there because President Biden knows how this could spiral. America is also providing a resupply of weapons to israels army for the expected operation in gaza. And on that, just another piece to the geopolitical jigsaw. Because if america is finding a war in gaza, that will impact weapons has available for ukraine. A weekend with implications far and wide. Implications fa and wide mark stone there. And kay, it is a fast moving a grim story developing here. Indeed. So, mark, please keep safe. And at the same time, they are employed by iss and have a 2. 2 boss inflation running at 6. 8 . Clearly, they also work alongside people who are looking at much bigger increases, many of them low paid members, anyway. Many of them were two or three jobs just to get by. And this is really a dispute to try and get them a reasonable pay increase. How many people are we talking about . There are not loads. Its just under 100 staff, most of the Union Members that are taking this action. Okay. And are they mostly men, women . Does not differentiate particularly . Its a mixture. There are a lot of women in these roles traditionally. But, more often than not, it is quite often a mix. And as i say, they are low paid workers. They dont really its quite a big deal for them. And they feel very strongly that they deserve to be able to feed their families. I get, that fran. But relatively small number from what you are saying. What impact is the Strike Action actually going to have . It will impact in as much as the services that would normally be provided arent going to be there for what are quite Important Group of workers, high paid, highprofile businesspeople that business visit those whitehall offices. And so, it does have an impact. I think theres a lot of public support for them. They have a very lively, vibrant picket lines, but also theres a lot of people that will stop and talk to them about why they are on strike. Its a reputation thats probably not great for iss to put on this. Our demands are quite simple. We would like to get into talks with the company to dispute. And separately, of Common Security guards also thinking about going on strike. Tell me about that. Yeah, similar issues. Again, our outsourced workers say the cs in pcs his commercial services, people who, traditionally, might have been Civil Servants if their work had not been outsourced. Similar we want the contracts on low wages, terms and conditions. We want that put right and talk to us, engage with, us and try and find solutions to these disputes that are cropping up. Okay. And youre heading up to liverpool, tomorrow, so hopefully i will be able to catch up with you and thanks very much for your time. Thank, you fran. Thank you very much, thank. You a quick look at the weather for you. R for you. Next couple of days, mostly very warm in scotland, will turn mainly dry for time. But it will be rain there as well. Mostly mild now. But, its rather murky for much of the north, the coasts and west, while Central Britain has some patchy rain. Some patchy rain israels Defense Force have told sky news they thought would be in a better place in them they are in the battle against hamas. At least 700 israelis have been killed, more than 400 palestinians killed since hamas launched attacks on israel on saturday we have just seen a clear Terrorist Attack on israeli soil. They are describing it as their equivalent of their 9 11. I would encourage people to not go out and protest in a way that they can, but also there is a right to protest. But there is not right there is absolutely not a right to glorify terrorism. And i expect the if you will hear in the United Kingdom are flying a flag in order to offer support for civilians in gaza, is that something that his government would be opposed to . There is absolutely no way that we can ever get to peace in the middle east which we all want to see, and ive wanted to see for many decades through the kinds of things which happened over the weekend, and therefore, i think, in terms of truce is that people are making in the United Kingdom right now, i would suggest they be extremely cautious. So so, simon mayall still with us. Former deputy chief of the defense staff. What is hamas hoping to gain in this attack . Because, once the shock has subsided, is you will have a mighty fist against gaza. And that, of course, is one of the names of hamas. They aim to create martyrs. And they know israel will have no idea macro level, there is, of course, an attempt to undermine rapprochement between saudi arabia and israel. Part of the abraham accords. On another level, it is acting, to an extent, to its pay masters in iran. It is a long ideological struggle. They are keen to create martyrs. But that is exactly what they will do. And any idea that they would garner support, by largely attacking a can only damage their reputation and increasing casualties. But they are not interested in that. They are quite happy for israel to carry airstrikes in gaza. Okay. Minister, i know you are going to and still to come, the idf Defense Forces said it thought it would be in a better place than it is that more on that. And also, you have a mortgage with metro .
