In washington where the white house launched a fullcourt press, a hard sell on the president s 1. 9 Trillion Covid Relief Plan facing criticism today even from a former obama official. Well have more on all of that for you in a moment. Meantime, over on capitol hill, some folks may be experiencing a case of whiplash. Congresswoman Majorie Taylor greene fresh off getting booted from her House Committees sounding a whole lot different today than the Majorie Taylor greene we heard yesterday when she was trying to save her place on those committees, saying 9 11 absolutely did happen and School Shootings were absolutely real. Note, though, she didnt apologize yesterday. Including for things like previously endorsing the execution of Top Democrats including nancy pelosi. But her remarks were enough for 199 House Republicans, that is all but 11 of her caucus to stand by her arguing that she deserves redemption. Now listen to Majorie Taylor greene today. If i was on a committee, id be wasting my time because my conservative values wouldnt be heard and neither would my districts. I tell you again, im fine with being kicked off my committees because it would be a waste of my time. But youre doing a good job and addicting our nation to hate. Teaching people to hate people like me. President trump. On the right its the same way. Teaching people to hate aoc, ilhan omar, nancy pelosi. It goes both ways, doesnt it . Not so contrite. Im not going go through all of what she said. Dolinger on her accusation of who teaches people to hate. Look at this blownup Facebook Post from Majorie Taylor greene with the faces of ilhan omar, aoc and Rashida Tlaib that steny hoyer used to make his point last night. This is an ar15 in the hands of ms. Greene. Look at that image and what message you think it sends. Also today taylor green accused ocasiocortez of lying about her experience during the insurrection. I was in the chamber unlike aoc, representative ocasiocortez that faked her outrage with another hoax. Just another hoax that gets shared everywhere. Teaching people to hate. Any way, about donald trump, Majorie Taylor greene said the party is his. It doesnt belong to anyone else. Tell that to republican ben sasse who said this in the face of a censure from his own state party. You are welcome to censure me again. But lets be clear about why this is happening. It is because i still believe, as you used to, that politics isnt about the weird worship of one dude. The weird worship of one dude. Fox news, three hosts and Trump Lawyers are all facing a Multibillion Dollar Defamation Lawsuit from an Election Technology company, dominion. It accuses them of conspiring to defame the company with false claims that the election was stolen. The story turned neighbor against neighbor. The Story Led A Mob to attack the u. S. Capitol. As donald trump faces an Impeachment Trial next week tied to that riot, it was one year ago today that donald trump was acquitted in his first Impeachment Trial. And this is what senator josh hawley said at the time. It has been the resentment of a professional Political Class that cannot accept the verdict of the people in 2016, that cannot accept the peoples priorities and that now seeks to overturn the election and entrench themselves in power. Its time to turn to the future. A future where this town finally accepts the peoples judgment and the peoples verdict. February 5, 2020. If only senator hawley had a crystal ball. Joining me now is leann caldwell, who was on capitol hill. Also with us david jolly of florida and former u. S. Attorney joyce vance. Everybody, welcome. Leann, Majorie Taylor greene yesterday sounding like she was contrite, sort of, On The House Floor, distancing herself from those conspiracy theories. Today she sounded like her old self. Yeah. Well, she started her Press Conference talking about policy. Her deeply conservative policy beliefs. But then it took a turn. Theres a couple things that stood out to me. Its clear that Majorie Taylor greene will continue to be a troll. She will troll the left. Shes going to troll the media. And even her republican colleagues who she thinks is not sufficiently conservative enough. She said that when she is no longer or she will have a lot of free time because she doesnt have Committee Work do which takes up a lot of lawmakers time around here that she will continue to espouse her conservative beliefs and she says push her party to the right. The other thing that stood out to me is that it was very clear after her News Conference that the party is nowhere near united than republicans are trying to say right now. After their fivehour family huddle a couple days ago where they talked about liz cheney, everyone came out singing saying the party that never been so united. But Majorie Taylor greene says the party is of trump and hes still the leader of the party. Thats not how a lot of republicans think the future of the party should go, namely liz cheney, senator Mitch Mcconnell in the senate and theres a long list of those republicans including the 11 who voted to strip her of her Committee Assignments last night. So this party has a lot of reckoning to do and a big decision of how they move forward. It could be a big headache for republicans moving into the 2022 elections. So, we have that list up on the screen of the 11 republicans who voted to oust her from her committees. There were ten republicans in the house to voted to impeach donald trump. We dont know whether republicans will go there in the senate trial, but it looks like theyll acquit him based on the constitutionality of the process. At the same time you have what leann is reporting, you have ben sasse saying this is the weird worship of a dude thats not conservative. If there is this feeling among republicans that donald trump is not their party, why are we not seeing more republicans come out and be open to at least hearing the evidence during this trial . Because i think the party is still gripped by trumpism. Ben sasse is a minority, so is liz cheney. The telling dynamic this week is more House Republicans voted to remove liz cheney from leadership because of her Impeachment Vote than voted to remove Majorie Taylor greene from her committees over the incendiary comments she espoused. So were witnessing Kevin Mccarthy, a man desperate, desperate to be speaker of the house, hes trying to build a big tent. The remarkable thing about this moment for Todays Republican Party is in the past conversations about a bigtent party, about ideology, trying to coalesce moderates and conservatives in the Republican Party, right now Kevin Mccarthy has to build a big tent around people who propagated the big lie, who tried to tackle our democracy and those who tried to defend it. This is not an ideological big tent that Kevin Mccarthy is putting his hands around, its one lacking Democratic Values and thats why that message keeps falling flat with the american people. You talk about how Kevin Mccarthy sees being speaker as within his grip. Is it within his grip if theyre fighting over whether to embrace Majorie Taylor greene or reject donald trump . Is this a Winning Strategy . Im curious because republicans gained seats in 2020 in the house. Yeah, youre right. This is counter intuitive. But republicans picked up seats in the house. Democrats lost seats in the house. Though democrats retook the majority in the senate, its still a 50 50 senate. I would say donald trump is correct, he got more republican votes than any other republican president before. So by Performance Mccarthy and other republicans dont see a need to correct. The craven lust for power, they look at it through that lens and they say look, were doing okay. We pick up 5 or 10 more seats in the house, Kevin Mccarthy says hes speaker. Dasha burns is in michigan. Youre in the Congressional District of one of the members of the House Republican caucus who voted to impeach donald trump, congressman meyer. What is going on there and how do they see whats happening within the Republican Party . Thats right. Congressman meyer won the district that kent county is in even though joe biden flipped this county turning it blue for the second time in half a century. So this county really represents some of the challenges that the Republican Party is facing. We spent a lot of time here in 2020. The trends we saw evolve here in many ways were harbingers for the explicit Identity Crisis playing out in the party right now. The voters we were talking to were hoping once donald trump was defeated there would be a sense of normalcy trickling back into the Republican Party. They say instead the opposite happened. I want you to hear from two voters, katie and cynthia. I would not associate myself with the Republican Party at all anymore. Their values are not my values. Its been pretty evident the way we watched this play out over the last couple of years, what they continue to endorse and stand up for. Until the Talking Heads started coming on and minimalize it and make excuses, i thought there was hope for the gop, the gop i grew up with and admired. Not this teastained trash that we have. Its a much Bigger Picture than just one insignificant former president. And they need to start thinking about who they serve. For cynthia, january 6th solidified cutting ties. She called her gop office and said take me off your mailing list and your phone list. Some other republicans are not ready to say goodbye to the party yet. Theyre looking for some bright spots in the Republican Party right now. They point to peter meyer as one of those, standing up voting for impeachment. We are in a very different position now than we were even as we experience a bit of a Groundhog Day situation here. When i first met these folks it was around the first Impeachment Trial and here we go again. Dasha, you have such good perspective on all of this because of the coverage youve been doing for the past year comparing voter feelings from a year ago to today. Im stuck on that teastained trash, that comment from that voter about the Republican Party. Joyce vance, this big lawsuit against fox news, its host, and Donald Trumps two lawyers, Sydney Powell and rudy giuliani, its not dominion, its another company, smartmatic is suing them. What does it mean for fox news and the rest of the defendants . This is a pretty fascinating lawsuit. The complaint, this is a civil case, not a criminal case. This is a company suing fox news, its hosts, and some of the president s former lawyers alleging defamation when fox news and others perpetuated parts of the big lie that involved their equipment that provided part of the infrastructure for voting. One suspects early on what will happen is a motion to dismiss, saying the complaint doesnt raise sufficient legal claims of defamation to move forward. But this complaint on its face is very strong. It is very likely to move forward. And then fox news and the other defendants will have to decide whether they want to run the risk of going through the discovery process, where smartmatic can suppose questions, ask for documents, get a lot of testimony about whether or not fox news and the other defendants were deliberately perpetuating information that they knew wasnt true and calling it news or whether theyll decide to settle. If so whether or not the plaintiffs will be willing to settle the case. What about the larger consequences of this, joyce . If they do get convicted or if they do if theyre found guilty of malicious intent here, does that mean that its going to be a lot harder to say whatever the heck you want on Television Going forward . So, heres a really interesting nuance. This is a civil case, but if there is a judgment against the defendants, one of the forms of relief that the plaintiffs have asked for is that that would force fox to repudiate the big lie. It would force them in the same venue where they put these untrue statements out for public circulation, to then come back and say, no, what we said wasnt true. Heres what the truth actually is. Weve seen a little bit of this going on in the context of the dominion situation with demands that people repudiate defamatory statements. So we could face a situation where fox and its hosts and the company was selective, they only sued fox hosts on the news side, not the opinion side of the programming. So they could literally force them and have a judge order these people to tell the American Public the truth. That would be refreshing. Really interesting. Smartmatic that is suing them. Joyce vance, david volley, dasha burns, leann caldwell, thank you very much. Still ahead, what this years House Impeachment Managers can learn from last years. Congressman jason crow joins us on how the second trial will play out. Another vaccine could be coming. This one is easier to store and faster to take effect. Watch out for this. First, President Biden says he wont back down on a key component of his relief plan. This is about peoples lives. This is not just about numbers. This is about peoples lives. I can tell any of you that are really hurting. Why there is fierce pushback from the white house today on a former obama official. There was a time when this represented the future. But this, this is the future. The future of communicating of hearing and connecting with life. And this, is eargo. No appointments no waiting no hassles. And they are practically invisible in your ear. Now you see it. Now you dont. If you have hearing loss now is the time to do something about it. Show your ears some love on valentines day with 350 off eargo neo hifi. Its our best deal on our best product. Others think that things are Getting Better and we can afford to sit back, either do little or nothing at all. Thats not what i see. I see enormous pain in this country. President joe biden says theres no time to waste. His administration launched a fullcourt press on covid relief this morning after the senate cleared the way to fast track the bill during an allnight voterrama. It included a white house invitation for leading democrats, a high profile address to the nation making the case for immediate action and a White House Press briefing on the economy. Now that the bill is on track to become law, much of todays conversation has been about an oped from former obama adviser Larry Summers, who arcs that the president s 2 trillion package could go too far. But the Democratic Party remains united behind the president s plan. Biden says the only risk is not going far enough. So, the way i see it, the biggest risk is not going too big its if we go too small. Joining me now is politicos ben white. Also with me is gene sperling, he served as director of the National Economic council and assistant to the president under president s bill clinton and barack obama. Gene, what do you think of Larry Summers oped if the package is this big it could do more harm to the economy than good . Well, on this issue i strongly disagree with larry. And i actually think that what he said is inconsistent with a lot of his recent writing that made the case for going big fiscally and not worrying as much about somewhat higher deficits when Interest Rates are so historically low. Let me put in more real terms why the risks are why i think larry is wrong. Its not just its partly what the president said so eloquently, this is about peoples lives, its about longterm employment, its about evictions, its about real suffering. It also is about risk. And what we learned from 2009, i think we learned from the past, is you have to have enough fire power not just to encourage recovery but to get all the way to full employment. That, number two, you have to take into account that things could be worse than you think. Look at todays job number. That suggests the Unemployment Rates were hearing are wrong. Theres much more pain. Were still 9. 9 million jobs behind. We have over 4 Million People who have dropped out of the labor force. And, three, finally, theres a risk that things dont go perfectly. We could have troubles with, you know, variants of covid that all sorts of things. When youre in this type of deep hole you do not take the risk of getting stuck in the hole. You put all the fire power you can. So on this one, i strongly agree with the president and strongly disagree with my former colleague, Larry Summers. So, theres also this, Larry Summers in the oped does say he made the mistake of not going big enough back when the Obama Administration faced the massive recession and the housing crisis. Talk to me now about the push back were seeing from this white house on somebody who was a big part of the Economic Strategy the last time joe biden was in office. Yeah. Thank you for having me. Great to be on with gene who was in the white house with larry during that period where the stimulus wound up being 800 billion, and he and others have acknowledged it wasnt big enough, not even close. And that the recovery that followed was too slow, too uneven, and continued a lot of pain for a lot of people. When i read that oped yesterday i was blown away by it given that larry has moved away from that idea of fiscal restraint in the face of crisis and has been much more progressive in his willingness to use deficits and spend whatever it takes. Everybody is talking about Lessons Learned from 08 and 09. The biggest lesson is you cant go too big. You have to go shock and awe, particularly now there are so many people suffering. Theres such a need for expanded unemployment insurance. These 1,400 checks and to fight the pandemic with every dollar and cent we can. Theres only one thing that will make this economy crank again and thats beating the virus. Throw all the money you can at it, then help people suffering right now. So to have larry say that its not that he makes no decent points. Theres questions of does this crowd out other points of the agenda, is there inflation lurking out there somewhere. So theyre not ridiculous points to make but they fly in the face of the experience of 08 and 09. Gene, i wonder, given that the Biden White House is trying to go big on this, theyre embraces more of the policy of someone like Bernie Sanders than Larry Summers, does that signal that this white house is going to shift towards more of the progressive wing of the party when it comes to Economic StrategyGoing Forward . I had the honor of not only working with joe biden for so many years in the Obama White House but working with him during the campaign and being part of discussions with him as the crisis hit. And i think the way biden looks at President Biden looks at things is, you know, hes not engaging in some philosophical battle. Hes thinking about people who are hurting. You know, i know that one of the things that was really on his mind when we were when he was first dealing with this was he had seen the pain of longterm unemployment. He had seen the pain of eviction. He had seen the pain of young people coming into the labor market and being scarred by a weak labor market and not getting earnings up. I think that says to him is that theres real Human Suffering that is longterm when you dont get to not just get to full employment but how fast you get to full employment. The faster you get, the less human beings suffer, the less parents are as he says taking that long walk up the stairs to tell their kids they lost their jobs. He really feels it in his heart. I think that he has seen that the overwhelming amount of people including the last, i believe, three fed chairs, ben bernanke, Jerome Powell and janet yellen have all said this is the time to go big. Dont take a chance. Dont get a chance of getting stuck in the mud because the risks are too high. When youre doing policy, you have uncertainty. You have to decide what risk will you take in an unearth uncertain world. Joe biden is not taking the risk and has the hole is deeper and that people will suffer. He will take the risk that things are going great, if it was too larger than someone thinks it needs, with negative real Interest Rates and very little signs of inflation, i mean, thats a choice he is taking easily. Its from his head but also from his heart. Listen, people are scared out there. Even the people who have been able to hang on to their jobs, theyre wondering how much longer their employers will hang on to them if this pandemic keeps on going, so that fear is real. Gene sperling, thank you very much for joining us. Ben white, thank you for joining us as well. Really important conversation. Coming up, those who dont learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Unlike pfizer and moderna, the j j shot is not stored in cold storage so americans could get vaccinated a lot faster, but will there be enough supply. Dr. Kamita patel joins us. Weve been told the j j supply is not where the white house or where our Health Departments would want it to be. But even with this emergency use approval, what is it going to mean for our ability to fight bako back covid . I think no manufacturing is where we want it to be because we do we have way more demand than supply. Some good news, that Johnson Johnson vaccine has much easier storage requirements. Through Operation Warp speed the federal government purchased 100 million doses and likely options to buy more. It doesnt come right away. Not having to use those freezers and having one shot makes this a much more accessible vaccine as you piggyback to what biden Team Announced recently that theyll turn on federally distributing to retail pharmacies around the country. Cutting out middle men, so to speak, and putting vaccine shots into pharmacies and hopefully directly into Community Members arms. So we keep talking about the percentage of effectiveness and i wonder if thats the best way to talk about it. When you look at the breakdown that j j is offering us for what it believes its vaccine does, obviously the fda will look at all of these results, presenting severe diseases, 85 . But it is 100 effective they say against covidrelated hospitalizations. Yeah. And it should go without saying, 100 against death. And effectiveness, youre right. I think its something that is kind of used and often not as well understood. But effectiveness means really reduction of risk. And thats really what were looking for with these vaccines. So we really do see, and to your point, i will take 85 reduction of risk of severe hospitalization and 100 of death all day any day. I think thats how the American Public should look at it. Its why i do think that whatever vaccine is available to you, you should take. And the first goal of the vaccine, remember, is to prevent these hospitalizations and death. Well see more data in the next months to see whether or not getting these vaccines protects you from also giving the coronavirus to anyone else. That will also be helpful. Most scientists believe it will, but we need to see that data. The efficacy numbers alone are a little deceiving. And remember, Johnson Johnson was in trial in countries at a time when those variants were emerging unlike pfizer and moderna, which were not. Yeah, they even have numbers on south africa, which is interesting. Get me a shot, any shot. Ill take it. Dr. Patel, thank you very much for joining us. Communities of color are still getting hit a lot harder by this pandemic. Even though they argue they need the vaccine faster because of that, many of these same communities are falling behind when it comes to getting people vaccinated. In the first months of the vaccine usage, the majority of shots went to White Americans. To make things worse the New York Times reports this is even happening within communities of color. Speaking to the New York Times, the ceo of a nonprofit that runs a Medical Clinic in washington, d. C. Said as soon as it began offering vaccines, suddenly our clinic was full of white people. Joining me is the ceo of george jones, he runs bread for the city, a Nonprofit Group that serves the washington, d. C. Community by running a Medical Clinic and helping to feed the hungry. Since you have spoken to the New York Times, youve said that you have seen a change in who is coming to your clinic. Explain . Yeah. At bread for the city, we were not stunned but i guess concerned when the first week or so we were distributing and administering the vaccine and the entire clinic was full of white people. People who were not typically our patients. We have 95 of of the people we serve are people of color. When the d. C. Health department allowed us to essentially target our own patients, get off of the Internet Access and call our patients and set up appointments for them. Since then we now probably have about 89 of the people we see are black or brown people. People of color. That is interesting. So you opted out of the portal and people would just naturally assume you would want to be a part of it because thats how people are able to sign up and know about the supply. Why has it helped you getting out of that portal, reach the people in your community who need this vaccine right now . I dont pretend to understand all of it. Its not surprising that we know in our community theres been a huge digital divide. Its not surprising if you use the internet to have equal access, you will end up with inequitable access. It was important for us to use more direct efforts to reach our communities, to make sure that we were intentional about who we targeted. Just calling people, to be honest with you, its more rational of a way to make sure you get black and brown people in. Particularly if thats the community you live in and thats who we have historically served. So i really applaud the d. C. Government for being nimble enough to say, hey, lets shift this process and allow these clinics and other communal clinics were a part of are doing the same thing to target their own patients in their own communities to make sure that the vaccine gets to people. As you know, black and brown people have been disproportionately affected by this disease, contracting it and more importantly dying from it. So it makes sense that we are intentional in trying to reach those communities. Are you seeing a decrease in Vaccine Hesitancy . Thats a good question. We are seeing a little bit of it. Even among one of the narratives is true that we had some trouble getting our own staff comfortable with it. But we now are well over 50 of the people and we think were tracking towards getting all of our employees to take the vaccine and one of the things that we think that has been effective in reducing the hesitancy in our own community is that we have had people who have good relationships with our patients, have relationships with our staff, talk specifically to people. Ive talked to 5 to 10 people myself about taking the vaccine and why, you know, the fact i didnt have any symptoms. The fact i had the second shot symptomfree, feeling good about that. I think one of the key factors is having people who a wouldbe patient talk to somebody who they trust, thats effective in getting people to get over whatever fear they have. George jones, thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate it. Coming up next, donald trump refuses to testify at his own trial. Does that help him or does that hurt the case against him . In an interview with nbc news, one of the president s lawyers, bruce castor, said the focus would be entirely on the disputed argument that you cannot impeach a former president. Castor said the team does not plan to invoke the lie of widespread voter fraud and does not plan on allowing the former president to testify. They said no. Joining me now is democratic Congressman Jason Crow of colorado. He was an Impeachment Manager during the first impeachment of then president donald trump. All the way back to one year ago. Congressman crow, thank you very much for joining us. I wonder what your advice is or if you have given advice to the Impeachment Managers for next week about what what you could have done better in the first round given that obviously these are two different events, but given that you might be running into or they might be running into the same united republican refusal to consider the evidence. Hi, katy. Thanks for having me on. I have spoken with a number of the Impeachment Prosecutors that will be starting the trial next week. Though i dont think they need my advice, and i think my advice is probably fairly limited in its use because this is such a radically different situation. In our case a year ago, youre right it seems like a decade ago, but just last year we had that other trial Going Forward. You know, foreign Corruption Case where the president used National Security money, taxpayer dollars to try to influence a Foreign Government leader to help him in his election. In this instance you have a crime that was committed against our democracy, against the capitol. And the jurors in this case and the house members that will be trying the case are actually victims of that crime. The court room is actually the scene of the crime. We all saw it play out on live tv. I was locked in the chamber myself. America saw this crime happen in realtime. Its a radically different situation. It will be important that we tell all the background and establish the context of what led us to that day. What about the individual experiences . What about the video . We heard from Rashida Tlaib and alexandria ocasiocortez yesterday On The House Floor describing their experiences. Lets play a bit of that. It was so compelling. Some are already demanding that we move on, or worse, attempting to minimize, discredit or belittle the accounts of survivors. In doing so they not only further harm those who were there that day, and provide cover for those responsible, but they also send a tremendously damaging message to survivors of trauma all across this country. So what happened on january 6th, all i could do is thank allah that i went hear. I feel so bad for my colleagues that were here. As i saw it, i said thank god i was not there. I know this is radically different. They all were there for this. They all had their own experiences. Will there be a place to allow members to retell their experiences, to remind, i guess, other members of how scary that day was . Theres a couple things going on here. Members of congress and the Republican Party want us to move on because they dont want to talk about this. It was so egregious what happened, the murder of a police officer, the brutal beating of 140 others, the attempted derailing of our democracy, they dont want to talk about it, but we will talk about it and hold folks accountable. Youre seeing the revictimization of survivors here, which is a societal problem. This is not new here. It happens with Sexual Assault survivors, it happens with trauma survivors. Its happened for a long time. Its similarly horrific and it cost people their lives. Thats why weve been speaking out to say enough is enough. We wont allow people to Retraumatize Victims and survivors, well stand up against it and try to change that stigma that society puts on survivors so we can start saving lives and move forward with the healing process. A lot of members are gathering a group of us were locked in the chambers surrounded by that mob that day that talk frequently and text frequently. We are putting our experiences and thoughts and video and archiving that for history as well as the criminal investigations that are going on. Tomorrow is one month to the day from the insurrection. Its only been one month. Congressman jason crow like i need to remind you. Congressman jason crow, thank you very much for joining us. We hope youre doing okay. Thank you. Coming up next, canada declared the proud boys a Terrorist Group. Why hasnt the United States . Introducing fidelity income planning. We look at what youve saved, what youll need, and help you build a flexible plan for cash flow that lasts, even when youre not working, so you can go from saving. To living. Lets go it has been nearly a month since a pro trump mob stormed the capitol. Today we are still grappling with how to move forward. Canada designated the proud boys a Terrorist Group this week but the United States still has not. The New York Times reports it is the main focus of the fbis inquiry into the insurrection on january 6th. And while the Biden Administration has said that domestic violent extremism is a growing National Security threat, it may not be so easy to crack down on it. Nbc news National Security and justice correspondent ken dilanian has been digging into this story. So lets start right there. Why wont it be so easy . Well, because as you alluded to, there are some legal impediments. While canada designated the proud boys as a terrorist organization, the United States cant do it because our law doesnt allow it. As a society weve decided the First Amendment of the constitution does not allow the u. S. Government to call a Domestic Group a terrorist Organization Even if it espouses violence because thats protected speech. What the fbi would say we dont investigate ideologies. We dont investigate groups. We investigate violent conduct. But in a story today, it has become much easier for the fbi to go after people that support international terrorism, americans other affiliated with isis and al qaeda than it is for people who are engaging in Domestic Violence extremism just like the proud boys and the people who attacked the capitol. Make no mistake, that was a domestic terrorist incident. The Congressional Research service looked at the law and said that Capitol Insurrection absolutely fit the definition of Domestic Terrorism. What joe biden is doing is to get the federal government to explore how we go forward and maybe we need a change in the law and maybe we need more political will at the fbi. Thats the debate Going Forward. My question was going to be, does it need to be legislation in order to make it, to carve out a way to label a Domestic Group a Domestic Terrorism group. And i wonder why, i know why, but the pushback that were seeing from some on the left to that, some civil Rights Groups saying theyre concerned it will be overused and used to target Protest Groups in general. Yeah. What they would say is imagine if donald trump had that authority. He would have designated antifa, black lives matter, and thats not what those groups want. And by the way, the far right is also very concerned about this and theyre accusing biden of going after his opponents. Its not, there is a definition of Domestic Terrorism in the law now but it is not even a crime per se. You cant even charge someone with Domestic Terrorism. Even short of designating organizations, some are saying we need a new law to at least criminalize Domestic Terrorism so we can charge people with that crime. We dont even count right now so many cases that might qualify as Domestic Terrorism but theyre charged as hate crimes, gun crimes, bomb cases, theyre done by the atf, the fbi. So Government Agencies dont even agree on a characterization of what Domestic Terrorism is. So, but there are some that argue, we dont need new laws. What we need is emphasis, money, resources by the fbi, which has definitely prioritized Domestic Terrorism even though right wing extremists have killed more americans than International Jihadi inspired terrorists.
