A mountaintop forest fire that began Sunday afternoon at Camp Tuckahoe in the Dillsburg, York County area — destroying nearly 150 acres — is under investigation, according to a Michaux State forest official.
District Forester Roy Brubaker at the Michaux State Forest said the initial call came in at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. About 12 hours later, most of the fire units had cleared, with forestry trucks remaining to monitor the area for any flare-ups, according to York County 911.
Michaux State Forest spans three counties, Cumberland, Franklin and Adams. Camp Tuckahoe is a Boy Scout facility used year-round, according to the New Birth of Freedom Council website.
