And in the southwest corner of the city it will sit side by side with the industrial businesses that have anchored that neighborhood for decades. It would join two other apartment buildings that have risen there in recent years, The Modern at Mount Vernon Avenue and Macquesten and 22 South West St., with others in the works.
Jonathan Gertman, vice president of development for Cleveland-based NRP Group, said it is consistent with the city's "clear vision" for the walkable mix of uses around public transportation.
He said there is always some reticence to change but "people who want to be in interesting, active urban settings are willing to be around different uses. They are attracted to where stuff is going on."
