Work is nearing completion on the screw-pile foundations and sub-flooring for the new Motueka Library.
As the new Motueka Library takes shape on Decks Reserve comes news of $250,000 in funding from the Lottery Grants Board for a photovoltaic (solar energy) system to power the Tasman District Council asset.
Community development manager Susan Edwards last week delivered the good news to councillors, pointing out the $250,000 grant follows matching funding from the Rātā Foundation.
“That’s half a million dollars that we’ve managed to receive for that project, which is absolutely amazing,” Edwards said. “It’s really, really excellent news. It does mean that we can get those extra sustainability measures under way for the project.”
