Commons approves legislation to reopen port: The House of Commons voted early this morning to approve legislation to put an end to a strike at the Port of Montreal. Dock workers at the port, one of Canada’s busiest, have been on strike since Monday. One MP said the strike could cost Canada $40-100 million per week and block the flow of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. Bill C-29, which won the support of Conservative MPs, still needs the approval of the Senate.
