Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 5) - More trains are expected to operate in the extended section of the Light Rail Transit-2 after two weeks pending installation of a safety feature, an official said on Monday.
Only one train is servicing the new Marikina and Antipolo stations that opened on Monday as the Light Rail Transit Authority completes the signaling system in the east extension.
The signaling system is a safety mechanism to direct traffic and keep trains clear of each other.
“So probably after July 18, with the completion of the integration works, we could deploy more trains and then we could normally operate na dun sa area (in the area),” LRTA spokesperson Hernan Cabrera told CNN Philippines’ Traffic Center.
