Jessie Votary, the general manager of Ramshackle Industries’ four worker-owned restaurants in Stratford, is keeping an eye on the numbers – and not just the total amount of meals heading out the doors of Old Man and Son or The Red Rabbit.
“Making a decision that is between the health of your business and the health of the humans around you is not one that can be made lightly; it’s a difficult equation,” she said. “The reality is the (first) time we went into lockdown, there were about 100 cases a day in the province and, of late, of course, there’s more like 1,000 cases a day, so (reopening) seems very counterintuitive in my opinion.”
