At least 1,227 people in Manitoba contracted COVID-19 on the job last year, an internal Workers Compensation Board document reveals.
The Manitoba Federation of Labour obtained the document and shared it with the
Free Press.
"Far too many workers face the impossible choice between putting food on the table and protecting public health by staying home when they are sick because they don’t have paid sick days on the job," the union organization’s president, Kevin Rebeck, said in an emailed statement.
