Monument Circle was briefly closed after a police dog alerted to a suspicious backpack

A suspicious package closed Monument Circle Tuesday evening while police investigated and curious onlookers pondered the possibilities. 
The commotion commenced around 7:15 p.m., when officers at the scene said a police dog alerted them to an unattended backpack. The discovery interrupted and twice moved 20 or so anti-mask activists who had gathered at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument to demand the end of Gov. Eric Holcomb's emergency declaration.
