NORRISTOWN â After spending seven years in the dogged pursuit of easing the distress of crime victims and other witnesses, "Turks," the Montgomery County District Attorneyâs comfort dog, is retiring.
âShe has some medical issues that sheâs dealing with so at this point sheâs retiring. The vet thought it was best that she not have the full workload that she otherwise sustains,â District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said recently.
âI canât underestimate the effect 'Turks' has had on so many victims over such a long period of time. She has helped countless survivors of sexual assault, countless children to get through a very difficult process,â Steele added. âWeâre down an important player our team right now and itâs going to have to be something we address as we go along.â
