Montgomery County budget approvals for a new north Clarksville public library branch and improvements to Stokes Field headline a list of projects on hold, pending word on an anticipated $40.5 million in federal stimulus funding.
In all, the county has identified 16 capital projects this springtime budget preparation season that could be funded with federal stimulus money — at least in part — rather than with county taxpayer dollars.
But the unknownsin play with stimulus payout have placed projects on hold.
"What we think we know today is the amount that we will receive," said County Mayor Jim Durrett. "It will be in two payments and there is a deadline on when the money must be spent.
