FONDA — Montgomery County officials pointed to the availability of hospital capacity in the region as helping to stave off a state COVID zone designation locally despite a continued elevation in infection rates.
Montgomery County Executive Matthew Ossenfort during Monday’s weekly update expressed surprise that the county did not receive a COVID zone designation imposing related restrictions from the state based on the county’s current case counts.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases among county residents since the spring reached 722 as of Monday’s update with 161 active cases isolating at home while nine individuals received medical care. A total of 17 county residents have died from the coronavirus since the spring.
