Monroe Transit is moving the city into the future of urban mobility with a new contactless fare collection system that will provide both riders and transit workers with a safer experience during the pandemic.
"Technology is always improving," Monroe Transit General Manager Marc Keenan said. "Just like other modes of transportation, let's say the airlines, where they use the same type of system where they use cashless and they have the barcodes. This system uses the same thing."
Using MTSPay, Monroe Transit users can purchase tickets through the new mobile MTSPay app and website, which generates a QR code for each fare.
