ULAN BATOR, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences on Thursday announced the launch of a saliva-based COVID-19 test kit.
The test kit, which according to the university has shown a high accuracy rate from saliva samples, was developed last year and approved by the country's health ministry on Wednesday, the university said in a statement.
"I believe that the saliva-based COVID-19 test kit has become more comfortable, time-saving and cheaper than other similar ones," the country's Health Minister Sereejav Enkhbold said at the launching ceremony.
In recent days, more than 300 COVID-19 infections have been reported on a daily basis in Mongolia, mostly in Ulan Bator, home to over half of the country's 3.3 million population.
