ConVal Nordic skiing co-captain Eva Calcutt qualified for the NHIAA Nordic Meet of Champions by taking fourth place in the classic leg and eighth place in the skate leg of the Division I State Championships held this past Wednesday on the Great Glen Trails at the base of Mount Washington. Normally held as two separate races on the same day, classic and freestyle, this year the race was structured as a Duathlon, with skiers skiing the first leg in classic style, then switching skis while still on the clock and finishing the second half as a freestyle competition. Each leg was roughly 3.5 kilometers, for an approximate seven-to-eight kilometer total. Schools were started separately to avoid congestion and cross-school exposure.
