After nearly a decade, the group spurring the conversation to build a new community auditorium and performance space at the ConVal Regional High School has disbanded, saying there has just not been enough financial support to keep going.
The campaign, known locally as “Fill the Void,” sought to build a center, proposed to be named the Thornton Wilder Center for the Arts, in a U-shaped gap at the back of the high school.
“It’s a lack of traction on funding and overall regional resources,” Rob Eichler, president of the board of directors for the Thornton Wilder Center for the Arts said Monday. “There are too many competing projects asking for philanthropy, volunteers and donations.”
