Momentum Center expanding services to Holland, Zeeland
Sentinel Staff
The Momentum Center opened in Grand Haven in 2017.
The "grassroots movement" aims to create a stigma-free community with social and recreational opportunities for people suffering from mental illness, addiction or disability.
Research from the nonprofit shows its members experience a statistically significant decrease in depression, anxiety and loneliness after using its services — and a corresponding increase in social connection.
The center's expansion to Holland and Zeeland will be housed at the Northside Holland Boys & Girls Club at 583 Riley St.
The pilot program includes a mental illness recovery group led by a certified peer support specialist, which meets 6:30-7:45 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of each month.
