4.5 quake 12 May 8:30 am (GMT +9)
Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Japan near Hachinohe, Hachinohe Shi, Aomori, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Wednesday 12 May 2021 at 8:30 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 33 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake.
