Our CorrespondentKohima, Oct. 29 (EMN): Moarenla Jamir from Modern College on Saturday won the 15th edition of the inter-collegiate debate competition held at Sazolie College in Kohima. Jamir, speaking for the motion on the topic “Christianity has brought positive changes in Nagaland,” defeated other 15 competitors representing various colleges to become the champion of this year’s edition. She won a cash prize of INR 10,000 along with a certificate. Speaker from the opposition bench, Khusje Shiu representing Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung, secured the second position, while the treasury speaker, K Chunchun from Dimapur Government College (DGC), Dimapur, won the third position. They receive cash prizes of INR 7,500 and INR 5000 respectively along with certificates. The consolation prize winners were Tiasen, Pekivi K Kiho, Yongkhongjgumla Chang, Kitokali Yeptho and Nungsamanen Aier. They were awarded a cash of INR 1000 each. Dr. Ketoukhrieü, assistant professor of Political Science at Kohima College, was the critic and the panel of judges were Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC of Pfutsero; N Suhuto Chishi, NBCC youth secretary; and Apila Sangtam, advocate at Gauhati High Court and KDLSA empanelled lawyer.
