WOOD RIVER — Riverbend residents are expected to be impacted by Missouri’s plans to drop pandemic-related supplements to unemployment benefits.
Madison County Employment and Training Administrator Tony Fuhrmann said that, unless the federal government takes action, Illinois unemployment benefits will be reduced by the end of September.
He stressed that there is still time for people interested in a career change, wanting to improve their skills, update their resumes or just find new jobs.
“The state of Missouri, as of June 12, is eliminating the extra $300 per week (pandemic) unemployment benefit,” Fuhrmann said. “That will affect Madison County residents working in Missouri, because they’re collecting Missouri unemployment.”
