Missouri and athletic director Jim Sterk mutually agreed he will step down once a replacement is found, the university announced Monday. Sterk became Missouri’s athletic director in 2016 after tenures with San Diego State, Washington State and Portland State.
“We are grateful for the dedicated leadership Jim has provided over the last five years to position Mizzou for even greater success,” University of Missouri president Mun Choi said in a statement. “We recognize his many contributions and appreciate his continued role as we search for the next leader of Mizzou athletics.”
