Mississippi new COVID-19 cases rise more than 1,200

JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported the daily COVID-19 case count in the state had risen by more than 1,200.
MSDH reported 1,210 new COVID-19 cases and 40 additional deaths Friday.
Twenty-one deaths were reported between Jan. 18-Feb. 4, including two in Jones County and one in Forrest County. Another 18 deaths were discovered during a review of death certificates between Dec. 13-Jan. 28.
The latest figures brought the state’s total cases and deaths since March 2020 to 279,742 and 6,222.
