WOOSTER A generous donation from Miss Amy's Bakery will put the Wayne County Public Special Olympics team back on the bowling lanes this year.
In honor of Autism Awareness Month in April, bakery owner Amy Crosland wanted to raise money for a cause special to one of her favorite customers, Andrew Vossler, 17. She reached out to Vossler's mother, Carrie Buchanan-Farkas, who suggested Vossler's involvement with the local Special Olympics team.
Blue cupcakes for autism awareness
With Vossler's input, Crosland sold blue iced cupcakes, the color associated with autism awareness, during April. Each cupcake came with a side of sprinkles, or "sparkles" as Crosland and Vossler refer to them. The bakery raised $2,750.50 for Wayne County Public Special Olympics.
