Midland oilman's Ansel Adams pictures sell for $6.433 million

The auction was held Monday and included 123 pictures from the Midland oil man’s collection of more than 650 Adams photographs.
Sotheby’s called Arrington’s collection “the holy grail of Ansel Adams’ collection” and that it represented “one of the most significant and impressive private collections of Adams work in the world.”
The top seller, according to Sotheby’s website was “The Grand Tetons and the Snake River,” from Grant Teton National Park, Wyoming. It sold for $988,000. “Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico” and “Half Dome, Merced River, Winter, Yosemite Valley” both sold for $685,000.
