SANFORD, MI — As owner of Jack’s Hometown Pizza in Sanford, Jack Brady was encouraged when friends and neighbors rallied to help rebuild the 1.5-square-mile village in Midland County devastated by dam failures and flooding.
His own pizzeria was one of many structures swamped in the May 19 flood, and it remained closed for nearly half the year as he and his family worked to rebuild it. His restaurant might not be open today without all the help, donations and grants Brady received from family, friends and the community, he said.
