BAY CITY, MI — Officials are investigating how a man fell to his death Tuesday at Michigan Sugar Co. near Bay City.
About 7:49 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a work-related death at the facility located at 2600 S. Euclid Ave. in Monitor Township. They arrived to find a 53-year-old male employee who had died, said Sheriff’s Lt. James Chlebowski.
The man had been part of a crew working in an elevated area cleaning a chute, Chlebowski said. He fell about 120 feet to a dual-screw system used to grind sugar beets, the lieutenant added.
