LANSING â The application deadline is fast approaching for the 2021 Michigan Air and Space Virtual Summer Camp program. The sessions will provide up to 50 Northeast Michigan students with an opportunity to learn about living on Mars, 3-D printing, astronaut training and drone racing.
Organizers point out that, following the successful landing of the NASA Perseverance rover on Mars and the Ingenuity helicopter flights, interest in space exploration is at an all-time high.
Region 12 of the Michigan Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (MiSTEM) Network will award $10,000 for virtual summer camps, for students in grades 3-12, offered by Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver, Colo. Scholarships will fully fund camp costs for eligible students.
