Michigan NAACP Youth and College Division reflect on 2020, how to keep momentum
Some days in life you remember forever. June 10, 2020 was one of those days for Kyra Mitchell, President of the Michigan NAACP Youth and College Division.
As she helped lead a march to the Capitol steps in the “We are Done Dying” protest, she continued to take glances back at how many people were behind her, but couldn’t tell how many came. When she made it to the steps, ready to deliver her speech, her hands began to shake, because as she stood at the top of the Michigan State Capitol, she finally got a chance to see how many people gathered in support of the protest against police brutality, racism and injustice.
