Michigan deputy kills attacking dog, angry owner armed with knife, police say

A man and his dog were shot and killed by police Wednesday evening when an animal-at-large complaint quickly escalated into an animal attack followed by a police shooting in Hillsdale County, Michigan, police say.
A Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, to a dog-at-large complaint at a residence in Reading Township, according to the Michigan State Police.
The deputy arrived at the home and was immediately attacked by the dog and bitten, leading the deputy to fatally shoot the animal, police said.
