Tomas Nido, Kevin Pillar and Jonathan Villar drove in two runs each to power the visiting New York Mets past the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday.
The result ended the Cardinals' winning streak, which reached six games after St. Louis took the first game of the twin bill 4-1.
In Game 2, Mets manager Luis Rojas deployed reliever Miguel Castro for one scoreless inning as his opener before turning to Jordan Yamamoto for 2 2/3 innings. Yamamoto (1-0) earned the victory by allowing one run on four hits with no walks and one strikeout.
