Some Other Solutions (SOS) has seen calls for their counselling services double since September, with callers ranging from young children to seniors.
There are more calls on suicidal thoughts, loneliness, isolation and depression. Other callers fear getting COVID-19 at work and passing it on, or worry about loved ones fighting the virus. The organization added a second counsellor in October, but both counsellors now have waiting lists.

Meanwhile, Alberta Health Services (AHS) is encouraging health care workers to be mindful of their emotional and mental wellbeing as they deal with rising COVID-19 cases. AHS is offering an Employee and Family Assistance program, and programs for dealing with stress, sleeping problems and healthy eating.
