For over two hours Tuesday morning, defense attorneys and prosecutors argued over whether Julian Khater and George Tanios should remain in jail until their trial on accusations they assaulted police officers at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 - including one from New Jersey.
But the virtual hearing based in federal court in Washington, D.C ended without a decision. Judge Thomas H. Hogan said he needs time to digest all the evidence presented so far, and asked the parties to come back later next week for more oral arguments.
