Four-legged pets in the Salina area were surprised on Friday thanks to the new Meals on Wheels for pets program. Area seniors who already receive the Meals on Wheels can apply for the free meals for their dog or cats thanks to a partnership between Salina Senior Services, Friends of the Salina Animal Shelter, and the Atherton Veterinary Clinic.
“Are fear was that seniors who were receiving the Meals on Wheels and cannot get out were giving their animals part of their food," said Rosie Walter, director of senior services. "We want to make sure everyone and every animal is eating what they are supposed to be eating."
