McLean County declares local disaster after severe storms

MCLEAN COUNTY (WEEK) - Historic rainfall prompted McLean County Board Chairman John McIntyre on Wednesday to declare the county a disaster area, enabling local officials to determine if the county is eligible for state and federal funding.
The declaration is in effect for the next seven days while the county undergoes damage assessments from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
State Rep. Dan Brady (R-Bloomington) said IEMA staffers will decide if the county will receive state or federal funding.
He said the results of that review will determine if the county meets the $20 million threshold for funding.
